Introducing Rockman X DiVE's New Operator: RiCO

Ever since the Rockman X DiVE Official website opened, a new Operator-like character has been teased by Capcom Taiwan. And finally, we have our first look at her via an early press release sent to Taiwanese media outlets and later an update on both the Facebook Official Page and the game's Official website.

Her name is RiCO and will be voiced by Reina Ueda. She will be responsible for assisting the players and her personality is described as cheerful and lively.

So what do you think? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Thats the worst most generic bland and boring looking MMX female reploid design Ive ever seen, the generic operator girl from the day of sigma anime was better
    Are they even trying

    1. I guess you can do better right?

and if not, just shut up

    2. Define "generic".
I personally think her design looks great and way more "navigator-like" than any of the previous navigators in the series (barring perhaps Iris during Xtreme 2).

    3. Are you the same guy who also hates Axl? Because your opinions are really dull and repetitive.

    4. Between the boardshorts, tie, navy motif, sidetail, hair fade, and ribbon, your opinion is flat-out and factually wrong. Congratulations - that takes effort to hit a bar that low. If it were overdesigned like some recent PokΓ©mon, well that would be one thing. The vented skirt might be too much, but everything else jives well.

    5. anon1: i would'nt particularly call her generic (aside from the hair, that looks indead like any modern anim character hair) though i would have something other than white as the main color.
anon2, i might disagree with what anon1 said (and the tone in which he said it, but not being able to do something does'nt mean we should'nt criticize it.
DuoDynamo: i'd say that x5 Alia is the more navigator looking of the lot. aside from wearing a necktie and holding a pad, Rico does'nt really seems like someone who is working in alaw-enforcement force. or working at all.

    6. Yeah, seriously, come ON, sir, what's to hate about the poor girl? I think she looks AWESOME!! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

    7. Something about her head bothers me, but the rest of her looks aight.

Also I don't see what disliking Axl has anything to do with this. Not that it's me, though I'm sort of iffy on him.

    8. If you don't know what 'iffy' means, I can't help you.

    9. No, I know what it means, silly; but I just don't see what there is to be iffy about. I think Axl is a good character. Still, I know there are those who would beg to differ with me on that subject. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. :)

    10. I think he was introduced too late in the series for his inclusion to mean anything. He's not in the Zero series and he's only sort of in the ZX series from what I understand.

  3. She's not Iris, but she's pretty cute...really liking the gradient blue hair.

  4. i was wondering if they would keep the "painting" theme of Layer and Palette, or go for another them or just give her another non-theme based name.

    1. now i get what was bugging me with her name. X serie character either have a motif name (math for X, Zero, Sigma, paint for Layer and Palette) normal western name (Alia, Douglas, or -with a added flower motif- Iris ) function name (like Colonel, Double, Lifesaver) or a name related to their theme (like Geemel and Gareth having medieval sounding names because they are modeled after medieval armor). Rico is'nt assiociated with a motif, and because she is'nt introduced at the same time as another character, she does'nt match with anyone either. I would have picked another name, but i'll probably get used to it soon enough.

  5. let's see how long it'll take to get fan-art of this new character.
i have seen a couple of new Cinamon or Marino art since this game has been announced. Even teppen X got some attention.

  6. Her design is pretty decent! Definitely at home in the X series universe.

The same can't be said for the name, though. It's like something out of a bad fanfic.

  7. I like her. Her design is nice.
Here's to seeing her join the gang in Rockman X9.

  8. The hairstyle is a bit generic anime-girl, and making it blue seems to make it moreso instead of making it stand-out more. i also prefered the darker shade of blue from the sneak-pics for the blue lines.
Aside from that, i think it's pretty good. only my opinion, of course. i'm not going to throw insult at you if you disagree.

    1. What?! Preposterous! this is not how you express yourself on the internet! You have to scream what you think as if it where fact and everyone disagreeing must be stupid.

  9. She looks great. It feels very ps1 era in its design.

  10. If I never see this character again, I will have forgotten her existence. She looks like one of those reploids you save from X5 and X6 but with like a modern idol anime-like spice to her. She seems like the epitome of a background NPC in terms of hyper anime looking games. I'm good. I know she will appeal to that certain crowd but whatever, moving on.

  11. I like her design! My niece has started getting into Mega Man, and I could see her really liking this character.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Whew. Kinda glad they're not doing fusions. Also good to see an "idol" Reploid, because they can't all be military/combat-based! Gotta be civilian ones in there somewhere.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Except they ARE the military, well not exactly but something like that. Though only the repliforce, Signas and Signas were ever really military looking anyway.
All in all, i still like this design. i have a preference for simpler style, but that's just my nostalgia talking.

    2. The Maverick Hunter force seems to have comprised of either generic designs or militaristic designs (navigators included). X and Zero, as legacy and irregular units, are exceptions of course. The civilian Reploids we've seen have either been generic or specific-purpose (and I don't mean Mechaniloids). So, again, good to see a design that reflects something cultural for once.

    3. Signas & Signas? 😦 Sounds a bit like Johnson & Johnson. Did you also mean to say Alia? Or Douglas or somebody?

    4. I think he may have meant pre-virus Sigma.

  13. I like this design. Kinda office worker like.

It would be nice if Capcom could work some of the non-canon characters into canon at some point. Marino, Cinnamon, RiCO, Massimo, maybe iX.

Not all at once. And maybe even not in presence but in lore alone would be nice.

Or, better yet, just make CM canon. All they have to do is change the date the game takes place and maybe explain X's armor in some way. Big whoop. They could do that if it ever gets reissued.

    1. Although MegaMan X Command Mission takes place in 22XX this date doesn't contradict the canon because the Zero saga has no official date, the MegaMan Zero games mention that 100 years have passed since the Elf Wars but these wars have no official date either (the only thing that is known is that they occur at the end of the X saga) and Capcom has never said anything about dates of those events, so, the Elf Wars could have happened perfectly after the events of the X Command Mission and 100 years later the Zero saga without contradicting the canon.

    2. Personally I consider CM canon. Officially, I never read where its said otherwise even though it's purportedly out there, which is fine.
I always assumed X's armor in that game was another light capsule armor just given off screen before the game started.

Really, at the end of the day, it's up to whoever the design staff is at the time to decide what fits and what doesn't.

  14. Se ve realmente genial!, pienso que ella va actuar mΓ‘s de navegadora ahora que Alia y Pallete tambiΓ©n entrarΓ‘n en el campo batalla.

    ReplyDelete
  15. She's cute, but i don't know if she fits very well with other MMX designs, even though admitedly, the designs change with each era of X games. Also i think she lack something that really stand-out, that make her design more memorable.
Like Marino's "squirel's tail" hair, or how Cinamon's are shaped likes wings, going with the angelic look without actually having to givs her wings. Iris was designed to be pretty, but you could still tell she belonged to the repliforce Army with the military hat. And Gareth meshed the robotic style of the reploid with his medieval armor them really well.

    1. i remember finding Layer and especially Palette's "Solid hair" kinda weird when i first played X8, but now i kinda like them, as it make them distinctive. i won't ever confuse palette's hair with any other character.

  16. She's fantastic!! Really looking forward to seeing her join the group. She does for a fact have a really anime appearance, which I think is absolutely awesome. Has one of the most feminine designs for a female Reploid since Iris; I think she's going to be a smash! πŸ˜€ Also, to those that hate her name, what is wrong with it? I think it's very unique.

    1. i don't think anyone hate her name so far. it's just different to any name seen in the serie so far. like, it's not like there was a common theme for all characters in the X serie, but hers still sound off. but i think it's just a matter of getting used to it.

  17. Just another NPC. Oh well back to base

  18. She looks good. What are people expecting?

Not really sure what the significance behind her name is. Does it fit the Mega Man X naming scheme?

  20. A bit too close to NiCO from Dead or Alive 6 (from color scheme to NAME!)

Could be better, but could be MUCH worse.
There's some intresting potential here, too. Imagine a hover or double jump move using the jets/thrusts/exausts in the animation? Other than that, she reminds me of Internet Explorer for some reason

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wait wait wait, i just remembered... i think there was a Dead or Alive (ot something else) character with a similar name and a few comon design elements. She might be a delibarate hommage/Expy of that character.

  22. Rico Rico Rii~♪ !

  23. The design isn't bad. Nothing special but not bad.
The image itself bugs me. Rico looks personality in her pose; which is bad when the idea is that have a robot that acts human.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I figured she be a nurse or helping pallet in the upgrade stations or something. She looks nice though.

    ReplyDelete
  25. And upon her announcement, massive amounts of fan art were had. No really, Deviant Art got loaded with Rico fan art almost instantly the same day she was announced. XD
