Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Will Have Denuvo DRM at Launch

The Steam pages for Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 were recently updated, revealing that they will include Denuvo DRM anti-temper software at launch.

Although it's too soon to say if Denuvo will negatively impact Battle Network Legacy Collection, the third-party tech is notorious for hindering gameplay performance, among other annoyances. Seeing as the collection is made up of Game Boy Advance ports, it shouldn't be too severe. But for the brand-new PvP modes? Uhhh... we'll have to see.

The good news is Capcom typically remove Denuvo from their games a good 6-12 months after release. In some cases, like Mega Man 11, the tech is patched-out sooner due to a crack. Either way, keep those fingers crossed for a smooth launch.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is due on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC/Steam in 2023.

  1. Thanks, but I'm out. Tacking on DRM (Denuvo, no less) to an old game like that? Nah.

    1. just get the switch version or any other console version and that shouldnt be a thing iirc. this is for steam so it was expected. Capcom knows players want to mod game so either players will release a removal or they will etc

  2. Some companies will never learn…

Sad thing is, people will put up with it, so they have no real reason to "learn".

  3. Is this a joke. A anti-piracy measure for ports of old games which are easily emulatable anyway?

  4. I don't plan to pirate the game. I always ALWAYS support Mega Man products I "consume" especially if I have the means to, which I do.

Yet why do I feel like I'm being punished with this garbage. Crappy 3rd party DRM is the freaken worse thing to ever happen. The idea that it prevents piracy and brand growth is a MYTH, the most pirated games Pokemon are THE BEST SELLING games in existence. Enough with the BS Capcom, ain't no one left in this world who would pirate, that you could otherwise persuade to buy and play Mega Man Battle Network of all things by antagonizing them. A person like that would either A. pirate the game love it or hate it and move on. B. pirate the game love it support it legally later, but never C. look at DRM and have a change of heart and support it legally. That doesn't exist.

    1. DRM are definitly never going to persuade anyone to buy a game they intented to pirate anyway, that's 100% true.
but saying that the most pirated games are also the best selling does'nt necesarrily demonstrate that. just that for how many people who will pirate it, there are more who are willing to buy it legally, (they would probably only sell a few thousands copy more if there was no piracy (since there's also a small amount of "oportunity thieves"). If anything, they are the most pirated for the same reason they are some of the best selling: the brand is just one of the most well known thing in existence.
In mega man case, in the current state of things, the people not in willing to support the serie are probably not interested in a compillation of games. that's why there's no point putting that kind of mesures.

  5. I'm not even excited for this fans have had access to online battles already and I got a cart with all the games with all the missing eastern content translated. Even as a fan I don't need this collection. ♻️

  7. Is Denuvo paying them to put their software on their games? I can't imagine Capcom themselves actually thinking this is a good idea considering every single game with it that gets put on PC gets negative reviews from people who hate Denuvo.

    1. 100% sure that the devs, the people actually working on making or porting games knows that. but a big company will always have some execs who have no idea how anything in video games works. Pretty sure they're the one mandating that.

  8. And just like that, the near-perfect versions of the games became the worst versions.

  10. That's not going to stop me from buying the game, especially since it's Mega Man and we can't afford to not support it just now.
but still, that's a poor decision.

    1. Support it or dont. All good things must come to an end, sooner or later.
BN is already complete. It's best for it to stay that way. Your memories and future self will thank you later.

    2. @anon Nov 26 7:06 - I'd honestly be ok with the MegaMan IP being taken down by this point. Buying shows support but that doesn't get us quality quality is gained when the company realizes they need to try harder. If everyone just buys junk all we will get is junk and if they want to wipe MegaMans IP id be OK with that but they absolutely won't. I know MegaMan fans are to loyal for their and the IPs own good MegaMan 11 was so "meh" just 5 weapons to instant clear the screen with short levels for this day and age mediocre is probably the best word. All I know is I'm most likely not buying MegaMan anymore I've let several bits of merch pass me by just because I dislike the series now. Don't gotta follow in my foot steps but a company listens to failure more then silent numbers so change is definitely not coming.

  11. Damn, I was looking forward to this collection. Finding the GBA cartridges is such a pain, I ended up with a flashcard for my NDS... Guess I'll stick with that.

    1. Its an antipiracy measure that breaches contracts of confidentiality and steals user data.
It also makes the game run at poor fps and overall kills the experience.

      Thanks for telling me

    1. Yep, and it ruined that game's performance.

  16. Morally, I guess there's something wrong with Denuvo, but as someone with a Ryzen CPU, I think my computer can handle some "performance loss" while trying to emulate some GBA games. Maybe if I was still on a. Athlon 64 3000+, I might have some issues.
