Arcade1Up Developing a Mega Man "Plug and Play"

Arcade1Up – makers of those miniaturized arcade cabinets that everyone loves – are launching a line of "plug and play" devices featuring retro games. Revealed earlier this month at CES, the lineup includes Pac-Man, Mickey Mania, Ducktales and... Mega Man.

The Mega Man plug and play comes with a wireless, Mega Man-inspired Sega Saturn-like controller and an HDMI dongle that houses six built-in games. Although Arcade1Up haven't specified which games are on it, it's safe to assume they'll be Mega Man 1-6. The device also includes a rewind feature and save states.

There's currently no word when we can expect the plug and play to hit retailers or for how much. We'll keep an ear to the ground. For now, you might want to keep an eye on Arcade1Up's website. Stay tuned!

  2. Or just get a real controller and one of the other hundred ways to play these games. Do we really need yet another way? Enough of 1~6, you fuggin' idiots.

    1. Yeah... really, they need to start making more NEW non-Classic Megaman stuff, though I'd also accept an official translated release of Rockboard, a rerelease of Megaman Soccer, or a rerelease of Megaman: The Wily Wars that I don't need to buy the mini-Genesis to play (yes, I know it has 1-3 on it, but I'd be most interested in the Wily Tower part). I'll be passing on this zillionth 1-6 release, too.

    3. You're acting as if this is getting development time from Capcom's internal studios. This is just a licensing deal. It's not taking any time or money away from Capcom teams.

    4. Dude you need to take a chill pill. Just because you aren't interested doesn't mean everyone else that wants this are idiots...

  3. So, it's literally just Legacy Collection, but with a controller, most likely less expensive, or more expensive depending on the props.

I suppose it's worth a buy, if you are a big mega man fan.

  4. Honestly, with a controller like that I have a sneaking suspicion they won't just include the 6 NES games... though obviously the controller can be used for more than just this particular plug and play device.
Hoping they'll get a bit creative with this one, but we'll see what happens.

  5. I would buy it if it was a Arcade1Up of the power battle and power fighters

  6. If this is Arcade1Up: why are we not getting Power Battle and Power Fighters?

  7. It looks like a neat collectible, and I like that the controller resembles the Saturn fight pad. Considering the Ducktales controller has 5 games on it and there are only 2 NES games, I think it's fair to assume they might be looking at non-NES entries. You never know. I have the Arcade1Up Marvel/Capcom cabinet, and it's pretty great, so I'm looking forward to what else they put out.

  8. I wish they'd do a plug and play for the Metal Slug series.

  9. You can't have too many ways to play Mega Man, provided the lag isn't too bad.
