Rockman DASH 3 Demo Event Cancelled (Updated)

Capcom Japan brings us some unfortunate news tonight, though it really shouldn't come as a major surprise. In light of the recent disasters currently taking place in Japan (i.e Touhoku earthquake), Capcom has chosen to cancel the "3DS x Capcom Premium Demo Event" and subsequently the public Rockman DASH 3 playable demo.

The event was originally set to take place on March 29, but, at this time, there is no mention of a reschedule. Capcom staff apologizes for any discontent this may bring its fans, as they are well aware of how anticipated the demo was. Demos of Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition and Resident Evil Mercenaries were also scheduled to make an appearance.

The good news is this has no bearing upon recent news of DASH 3's green-light troubles. At best, the delay is giving the team more time to prep the demo, and it will benefiting from it in the end. Make no mistake, please: this news has no bearing upon DASH 3's development.

Capcom's been canceling a lot of events recently , and it was only a matter of time until 3DS x Capcom was affected. Perhaps as compensation, the dev team can give us a nice, legitimate look at the game in action come the 29th. Hey, it's the least we can hope for.

UPDATE: Capcom USA has confirmed the events cancellation as well.

  1. *sigh* I knew it was too good to be true...it really only is a matter of time before they just cancel the whole thing...I think I just died a little inside. I'm going to keep on hoping though! This game WILL happen!

  3. The event was canceled because of the earthquake, like everything else mentioned in the article.

There's nothing here that suggest the game is being canned.

  4. Anon 1, it's being canceled because of the crisis in Japan. This has nothing to do with the game's development

You suffer an 8.8 earthquake, a tsunami, and a few nuclear incidents and keep all your appointments.

Give them a break, they have more important things to deal with, right now.

  9. Something gets me the feeling that this whole game is going to just get canned altogether.

  10. It's been canceled because of the earthquake/tsunami combo. Stop blowing the whistle about this game's troubles of being green-lit.

Protodude should've added that little detail to the story.

Maybe he didn't add it because he couldn't confirm it and he tries to be a competent news source.

  13. Wow, all of you need to read the post A LOT more closely, next time. It says, right there, ITS DUE TO THE RECENT CRISIS IN JAPAN.

  14. Second sentence of the article:

"In light of the recent events currently taking place in Japan (i.e Touhoku earthquake),"

I don't think it gets any clearer than that. The disaster in Japan has affected a lot of Capcom's events lately, even delaying DLC for Marvel VS. Capcom 3. It's no surprise that this event would get cancelled too. To believe it has any correlation to a possible cancellation on the entire DASH3 project is ridiculous.

  16. It isn’t just Capcom that is cancelling events, Nintendo is doing the same thing with Pokemon, to start, they are delaying the Global Link launch for Pokemon Black and White, because they “want to conserve energy” they also skipped three episodes of the current season of the Pokemon anime planned to air on March 17th and March 24th, due to two of them having buildings being destroyed by the bad guys, and the third apparently referencing the events of said episodes. The first two (originally planned to air on March 17th together) was to be about Team Plasma attacking Castelia City (aka Pokemon New York), and was replaced with an episode that was to air later, being about Ash winning his 3rd Gym Badge, the third episode (originally to air on March 24th) was to be about Cilan entering a fishing contest, and was replaced with an episode about Ash meeting up with Bianca again, who wants to vcatch an Emolga on Route 4 (which is clearly not a desert like it is in Black and White, and Emolga do not appear until Route 5, but then again, this is the animes usuall inconsistencies with the games). Yes, I went a little too far with the Pokemon stuff, but it’s the same kind of thing Capcom did here with the 3DS.

Simmilary, back in late 2001, TV channels started pulling off episodes of TV shows because the episodes had buildings and stuff getting destroyed in them, and such content was deemed “too controversial” because of September 11th. THAT’S RIGHT!!!!! This Japan stuff is apparently the new 9/11, and it’s going to be a while before they stop talking about it, like, a few months.

  17. Didn't anyone read the Dev Blog at all? They made two things clear:
1st: That the game HAS NOT BEEN CANCELED! It is on hiatus following the safety & well-being of the people of Japan in the aftermath of the Quake & Tsunami.
2nd: That it is a common thing for developers to be working on a game even if it has yet to be green-lit. Its kinda like fans working on an upgraded remake of a popular game without the say-so of the original development team: the difference being the developers will simply be told the project is canceled because it wasn't green-lit and not because of a C&D letter.

  18. @ HeroManX: Okay, I've just about had it.

Your one-sided grudge (read: really one-sided, as I don't recall Amir responding to your attacks for months) against Amir is starting to get more annoying than anything he has ever said, honestly.

Really, of all the people you could have chosen to attack in this article over the possibility of Legends 3 getting canned (in which anyone with any kind of reading comprehension skill would figure out that this event being canned has more to do with the Japan crisis than the green-light issues, of which said green-light issues probably don't even exist in the first place), you chose to attack Amir, and ONLY Amir.

I know Amir could easily come back and rip you a new one right now (since technically, you're the one that's been trolling him all this time, and he's already shown himself to be capable of freely smashing through the language barrier, meaning he probably knows a lot more about Legends 3 than you do), but he chooses not to.

Yet you keep doing this. That MUST say something about you.

  22. Man, HeroMaX (or should I say, Musashi). Why do you have to be so vocal about what PRC readers believe? What matters is what protodude reported; did he ever say it was going to get cancelled? No. Idiots here who can't read the report are off making irraitonal assumptions.

Still, You have no right to constantly share that PRC is in the wrong. You're making it look like Protodude himself is saying its going to get cancelled when it's just the opposite.

Who cares what the readers say, man. It's the NEWS that matters.

  23. *scoffs*

Oh wow, Heroman/Mushashi. You sound almost as ridiculous as I was before OSS' release.

Jesus christ, PMing me over at Unity over something I never did? Seems like you've completely missed the point of my earlier post. (And from the looks of it, you've PMed a few others in here too.)

I suppose I should let the thread be public to all. It's quite ironic - you slam Amir for slamming the English Rockman fanbase, yet you fail to realize that you're rather close to doing that yourself.

  24. Wow, Way to make Protodude look bad, Musashi. HE didnt say it would be canceled or not, it's the commentors saying otherwise. They're taking this story out of context.
