Update On Megamix, MMZX Volume 2

I bet you're wondering what happened to the second volumes in the Mega Man Megamix and Mega Man ZX manga series. It's the end of July and neither book made their target release dates -- May and early July, respectively. Where are they? Well, I've got a couple updates on just what's going down.

According to Udon's managing editor Matt Moylan, both books were recently approved by Capcom as of July 13, and are off to the printer for production. Matt wasn't able to provide a specific release date for either book; however, just recently Udon's own release schedule was updated showing both books with a mid-August release window.

Moylan will be revealing firmer release dates shortly. Until then, it's a matter of patience. The good news is these books are still on, so it's not like either series was canceled, if that's what you were worried about. In fact, Megamix volume 1 is one of Udon's better selling mangas to date!

More updates as they come in.

  1. Yes! I can't wait for it to come out! And I do hope that after they're done with Megamix, that UDON decides to release Gigamix, as well.

  2. lol, it's Udon, I think we're all used to waiting. So long as I know they're coming, I'm fine tho. Thanks for picking these up Udon!

  3. Why exactly does Udon even bother giving us release dates if they NEVER meet them? Seriously, am I the only one who gets irritated by this?

  4. This is my problem with Udon. I love the fact that they're releasing all of these books... but they have such a messy release schedule. It's so unorganized. They gave a release date and that date passed and now they're being printed?

  5. I just bought the first one and i'm pleasently surprised how good it is. I've never read a manga style book before, shame amazon don't have any volume 2 in stock.

  6. It's not entirely UDON's fault, as they did had to get them approved by Capcom. Although, it still probably wasn't a good idea to give release dates before getting them approved...

  7. Eh, I'm not concerned. I ordered them on Amazon forever and a day ago and just keep hitting "confirm delay" every time. They'll be here when they get here.
Honestly I didn't even know they were supposed to be out by now.
If people are so freaked out about the delay they should learn to use TEH INTERNETS to keep an eye on it better.

  8. That's the problem, TCat. You CAN'T keep an eye on it better because the release dates never change. The date just comes and goes, and next thing you know, Udon says their usual, "sorry about the delay, the book will be out this/next/whatever month".

  9. The thing you guys have to understand is that the delays are not necessarily our fault. Matt was correct when he said we've been waiting for approval from Japan. There's nothing we can do in that instance; our hands are tied. Rest assured, we aren't just screwing around and missing deadlines. ;)

That said, I just localize and edit the books; I don't have any say on release dates. But I do know that Matt doesn't just choose or advertise them arbitrarily. He does the best he can while weighing factors we have no control over.

There's a process these books have to go through before these books can be released, and we're not in control of every part of that process.

I can tell you this, though: Megamix 2 and ZX 2 will both we worth it... and Megamix 3 is even better! We hope you're looking forward to them. :)

  10. I just can't wait for the Mega Man Star Force Complete Works to be localized.

Now THAT is something I won't mind hearing delays about, constantly. XD

  11. Please note that I'm not condemning Udon for matters completely out of their hands, but rather for posting release dates if they don't know whether they'll be able to make them or not (which, considering how many things apparently go wrong, is pretty much always the latter). I mean, if they don't know when a book will necessarily be released, why bother posting a release date at all?

At any rate, I know you'll put out a quality book, and I look forward to reading them all. :)

  12. Earth to Udon: Every one of your Mega Man books has been delayed at least 3 months. Every. One. Plan accordingly next time. Thank you.

  13. @Saito

Is that all you cared about? MegaMan Star Force...?

A lot of people want this manga/comic book so badly and all you cared about is MegaMan Star Force,

Me and some others saw you complained about MegaMan Zero Collection and you won't shut up about it. I also heard you want Classic, X and Zero series to die.

    Seriissly, act your age.

  14. @Anon who tells me to "act my age"

Funny, seeing as you're the one directly trying to start something. :3

The Classic, X and Zero series have had enough and their fair share of representation, treatment, games, etc. While DASH, ZX and SSR have had nowhere near as much. Not to mention, they also had the best character designs (It's not my fault Black Ace and Red Joker armor looks x100 better than anything that ever came out of Zero series, bitch) of the series, and all haven't been given full closure for their storylines, all of them are hanging at cliffhanger endings and story.

I never said I wanted the X, Classic and Zero series "to die", I said I want them to stop with those ones for just a little bit, and focus on the lesser-used characters. Way to completely change what I said into whatever YOU wanted to hear, kiddo. :3

As for Zero Collection, I don't need to repeat myself on every good point I've made about how bullshit and garbage that game is.

You know why? Because I know for a fact, without a single doubt, retards like you aren't gonna listen anyways.

So shut your face and know your place.

  15. I'm pretty sure the first Megamix was only delayed a few weeks, not three months...

I dont mind delays, its the silence that kills me. All you have to do is say:

"Sorry, for reasons beyond our control this book has been delayed. Stay tuned for the new release date"

But two months of silence is kind of unfair.

  16. Awesome!!! i cant wait, this megamix volume contains the Bass stories!!.

  17. Saito -

Ignore the Battle Network/Star Force haters. Star Force OCW, and it will be awesome. I'll see to that as far as the editing and localization is concerned.

By the way, do you still have an irrational hatred for me? :P

    Everyone else -

I know it sucks for release dates to come and go without hearing any word about what's going on. I'll see if I can talk to Matt about possibly letting me preempt those situations in the future by being allowed to give you guys updates -- I just can't do so without permission. I always have to double-check what I can and can't say with regard to release dates and upcoming projects. I certainly don't want our audience to be frustrated, though, so I'll see what I can do. No promises, though. ;)

  18. @ Anon attacking Saito:

Take your own advice. Maybe before you criticize someone, you should not bring in personal grudges from other articles, and start putting crap in that person's mouth to boot. Makes you look a thousand times worse.

God damn, I'm getting taken back to five years ago... Where quite a number of X and Classic fans attacked any and all EXE fans on sight. Unprovoked too.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Ash:

I don't ever recall having an irrational hatred for you. XD

Also, why is it that whenever I type up a really good comment, basically telling the people like the Anons who keep picking on me, WANTING to start shit with me, and me telling them to stop, my comments get deleted immediately?

Sounds like some biased ass shit, we got here.

  20. I don't know how Udon decides their release schedule, but they should add more five months for all their expectations. :P That way they have more time and nobody gets angry with delays.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Just remembered about MegaMix Vol 2 and went to my local comic shop to pre order it today.
I don't really care if it gets delayed a little, as long as it arrives some time soon I'll be fine

  22. I find it ironic in the sense of Japan having tons of technology around its backyard and yet Capcom can't even do an orderly response of "approval" within time.

Air mail must be the choice to response for them T_T

  23. @Saito

Cause your comments are rude and offensive to some people.

And you swear like a sailor who keeps saying the S and F words like you own this blog which you don't.

So therefore, you're nothing but a troublemaker who offends people and fans with your rude and negative comments.

  24. If anything, I find UDON's complete disregard for letting us know about the delays to reflect very, very poorly on their company. I can deal with a product being recalled/cancelled/et cetera, but I really don't think that excuses them for not saying anything about the situation for THREE MONTHS.

Seriously, I even went as far as e-mailing UDON's customer service about three times over the course of this summer (once in May, June, and July), with absolutely NO responses!

After I get Megamix 2 and 3 (if they even come out at this point), I'm not buying anymore of their releases. They should at least have the courtesy to inform their customers that something has gone wrong with their release schedule.

  26. (continued from "If anything..." rant)

I understand that Ash's "hands were tied" about letting folks know that volumes 2 and 3 were delayed. But it's the length of utter silence about it that I'm really pissed over. I've had Megamix 2 and 3 on indefinite back-order at rightstuf.com for several weeks now, with RS's customer service being just as clueless about the books' availability.

To be brutally honest, I think UDON should offer a generous discount to anyone who's still got these books on pre-order for this scheduling blunder.

    ReplyDelete
  27. There's a tentative (at this point, EXTREMELY tentative) September 1st release date for Megamix volume 2 at RightStuf.

Of course, I'm pretty damn sure that'll just push back Volume 3 to October, November, December...

I just hope someone's fed-up enough to just do a full scanslation of Megamix for anyone who doesn't want to wait through another 3/4 months of NOTHING.
