An Interview with Ian James Corlett, The Voice of "Ruby-Spears" Mega Man

My two good buddies Cole and Twitch had the gracious opportunity to sit down for a chat with Ian James Corlett – the voice of Mega Man (and Rush) from the Ruby-Spears cartoon and Dr. Wily in Captain N, among countless other roles. The near 45-minute discussion features a nostalgic look-back at the show's recording sessions, the voice acting industry, and the answer to an age-old question: if given the opportunity, would Mr. Corlett return to voice Mega Man?

Check it out above!

  1. It absolutely delights me that Ian James Corlett liked Mega Man enough to be willing to voice him again, should the opportunity arise.

  2. Thank you for the feature! Getting to sit down with Mr. Corlett was a huge honor.

This video was the kick-off for Mega March, which will have a new video every day this month! Last year, we talked about every episode of Ruby-Spears Mega Man and this year, we are comparing designs between Ruby-Spears and Captain N, so check it out if you're interested!

    1. I wonder if anyone will ever get to record an interview with Scott McNeil. Based on a video someone did with him at a convention, he can't do the Proto voice as well as he used to.

    2. When we initially met Ian and Scott, Scott was down to do an interview right there, but he had a line of people, so we couldn't exactly make it happen. We are gonna try to get him on the show.

I got a video of him going back and forth as Wily, Protoman, and Eddie, so he's still got it, as far as I could tell in a noisy convention hall. It will likely be uploaded this month.

    3. That's still quite splendid to hear! Which convention was this at, again? I don't recall Scott being at any conventions on the East Coast outside of maybe Florida and maybe NYC?

The video I saw of him doing it was from a few years ago. Maybe he was having an off-day or it was hard to hear. I can imagine just talking all day would tire someone out.

    4. It was Kameha-Con 2019. Scott was a last minute guest. It was really nice to meet them both.

  5. That's how I got into Mega Man, by watching the series first. I would warch it all the time. Every Saturday and Sunday. Then when it switched to week days I watched it. It was switched around a lot and been on many different networks. It drove my parents crazy and they knew the characters lol I taped every episode lol Mega Man X was my first game and back then I thought it was Mega Man 10 lol and I thought Zero was Roll.... But I'm sure you guys heard that many times lol
