Capcom Files Trademarks for "Rockman DASH", "Tron Ni Kobun" and "Rockman & Forte"

A wealth of Capcom-related trademarks recently went live in Japan, each corresponding to a dormant or legacy IP. There's one for Dino Crisis, Power Stone and even Darkstalkers, to name a few. In terms of Mega Man, Capcom actually filed four individual trademarks:

While nothing has been officially announced, I think the gears in our heads are collective turning to the same thought. With the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection due in February, it's only naturally for us to wonder what "Legacy Collection" will come next. This could very well be our first breadcrumb... if that.

The Rockman & Forte trademark is less clear. Beyond the Wii U Virtual Console port, Rockman & Forte has been mostly "forgotten", absent from both Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2. Who knows what the deal is here.

Indeed, the existence of new trademarks for Rockman DASH, Tron and Rockman & Forte carry heavy implications. Capcom have a large interest in older titles and "awakening dormant intellectual properties," after all. This could all very well relate to that line of business. There's also the idea that Capcom are merely renewing old trademarks for protection (which is relatively routine every few years or so). While I don't disagree with that notion, it's interesting that of the many, MANY Mega Man titles not renewed we have two that are related to one another (DASH and Tron) and one for a game that hasn't been re-released in several years (Rockman & Forte).

Of course, while it's fun to entertain thoughts of what *could be*, it's best to keep your expectations in check until something a bit concrete surfaces.

We'll keep you posted.

  1. I would LOVE to see a Rockman & Forte remaster. I always loved that game, partly because it was such a mystery to me as a kid.

    1. It would be fire if they remake the Wonderswan title as well. Rockman Shadow is such an underrated character.

  2. I'm not holding my breathe for anything really significant. It would be safe to assume that Capcom may be prepping to re-release these titles once again for current consoles and maybe Steam.

  3. Classic Legacy Collection 3 with RM&F, the two arcade games, maybe Super Adventure Rockman, just something cool.

And finally give a Legends collection so I can finally play em.

    1. Don't forget Battle & Chase. I played it on the X Collection, and it was way more fun than I expected.

    2. And Rockboard and Soccer even though I don't care for them. And Wonderswan Rockman and Forte. Just want the biggest collection available.

  4. My guess is a Legends collection that includes MM&B just because.

or maybe legends collection and handheld collection, and they're gonna give us the GBA version of MM&B again, along with MMI-V and maybe MMPU. handheld X collection could then have Xtreme 1 and 2 and maverick hunter X.

  5. It bothers me quite a lot the fact Capcom does not truly see Megaman as a profitable franchise anymore even though it is. Apart from Megaman 11, all we had were collections and small budget projects like MegaMan 9 - 10. I already imagine all of these projects on the way are more remakes/collections ... Kind of disappointed

    1. Case in points, we got MM11 after getting Megaman collection 1 & 2. And Tsuchiya kinda implied that another game will come. The fact that they're making collection does'nt mean they don't plan to make something else. This might very well be the oposite. I'd even say that making a MM legend 3 (for exemple) now would'nt be a very good move. If they want wathever new game they could make to sell, they have to make sure that peoples have played the previous games in the serie.

  6. If they were to do another collection for just megaman in general I would love to see a Game Boy collection *Cough Megaman Mania*
But I suppose you could slap MM&B in with a collection like that

    1. Let's keep the Legends Collection as just Legends games. They have 3 of them (4 if they still have the 3ds Legends 3 Prototype).
M&B and the gameboy titles can be make up their own Legacy Collection; along with the arcade games, Battle & Chase and Soccer.

  8. I would love it if they release a Legend collection or remake. i never owned or played thoses games (mostly because i only got into video games during the Ps2/Game cube era), so it would be a good occasion for me to finaly discover them.

  9. Happy anniversary to Megaman Legend, by the way.

  10. I'm still hoping for a command mission sequel. Otherwise theres so many collection possibilities like EXE with transmission included.

  11. I sincerely hope CAPCOM learned their lesson with the new Resident Evil 2 that 3D games from this era really should be completely remade and not just "remastered." Nobody wants tanks controls in 2020.

  12. Better Capcom won't forget the Megaman Gameboy games, maybe include Rockman & Forte SNES and Wonderswan game in that collection. For a Legends collection, it better include The Misadventures of Tron Bonne with the 2 MML titles.
