Mega Man Xbox Avatar Gear Removed from Marketplace

We're not exactly sure when or why it happened, but all of the Mega Man gear from the Xbox Live Marketplace has been removed. Everything from the Mega Buster to the helmet has been de-listed from both the browser and console storefront.

Prof9 first noticed the vanishing act around October 10th. The helmet - and only the helmet - was still listed then.

Developed by Flashman Studios, the gear first launched on Xbox Live in 2012 to celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary. It consisted the Mega Buster, Mega Helmet, and even costumes of the original six Robots Masters. At the time of this writing there's been no word from Capcom, Microsoft or Flashman Studios. If we learn anything more, we'll let you know.

  2. Maybe there getting rid of any traces of old Megaman cause the new TV show is gonna remodel his appearance, if we only look at the negative, then Megaman really will die.

    1. Enough with the Nintendo stuff, it's like one of the worst alternatives. Not only is Nintendo's primary focus on sellers, very few people working over there are about helping out under used franchises. It is usually the same suspects that make games that they love like Miyamoto, Aonuma etc most of the time Nintendo just licenses third third party devs or fund third party devs to get some sort of deal for their consoles. Even SSB is third party.

    2. Nintendo is not much better than Capcom when it comes to their IPs. Still waiting on that new F-Zero game guys.

    3. Nintendo still works on or keeps an eye on nearly every third party project that involves their IPs, including Smash. They are so defensive of their IPs even to this day, they simply won't turn a blind eye to that sort of thing.

Nintendo is also not really any worse than any other company when it comes to under utilizing IPs. the most recent Mega Man games that released on consoles, 9 and 10, weren't even made by Capcom either, they were made by Inti Creates, so that wouldn't really change much either way.

It will be interesting to see what Nintendo does do with the franchises they don't give as much attention as others once the NX releases, since the rumors point to those devices being built to help save them a lot of time on development. Hopefully it means that the franchises that do receive less attention from them get more releases than before.

    4. Smash is not 3rd party. If anything it's a 2nd party.

    5. Yes because instead of making Mario games that'd sell millions, Nintendo would rather make Mega Man games that'd sell thousands.

They still make Donkey Kong, Kirby, Yoshi, and other platformers even though they all tend to perform worse than Mario. It's not an either/or sort of thing.

That point is absolutely valid. But even those platformers reach or are closer to reaching the six-figure mark. Not only that, they already own DK, Yoshi etc. Why should they go spend a ton of money to acquire the rights to make games for a character that cannot outsell their own?

  4. Probably some contract with Flashman ran out or they're finding a new developer to make better versions.

Worst case scenario? Someone up top believes they need to reduce the amount of stuff on the console marketplaces to improve the value of the franchise, like Sega did with Sonic a while back.
