131 Artists Take On 131 Mega Man Bosses

On December 15, a single Tumblr will play host to an exciting celebration where 131 artists will take on 131 Mega Man bosses in an all-out display of creativity and imagination. Video game designer Jason Warnke is proud to present the Mega Man Boss Battle Tribute; a digital art exhibit that will ring in the 25th anniversary in style:

"The Robot Masters of Capcom’s prolific series represented more than an epic figurehead of destruction, they represented aspiration. Stealing the boss’ power to defeat the next. Becoming the badass. Saving the world.

Megaman has deeply inspired generations of video gamers and artists. This project is to pay homage to Megaman and the hordes of Robot Masters he defeated over the last 25 years. The artists of this project have come together to pay tribute to the what we feel is one of the greatest game series’ of all time. Each artist has chosen one Robot Master of a selection of 131 classics and represented them with the artist’s unique style and inspiration."

Jason dropped me a line earlier today to fill me in on the project. In addition to a digital gallery, he is looking into setting up an actual exhibit in a San Francisco gallery. Nothing is set in stone yet, but it sounds very promising! We'll keep you posted if we hear anything.

In the meantime, head on over to the site and get yourself pumped. You can check out the full list of contributing artists here.

  2. A San Fransisco gallery, eh? I live pretty close to San Fransisco. If that exhibit comes to fruition, I would love to check it out!

  3. If it's an actual art exhibit in San Francisco, I'm totally going.

  4. I...didn't know Dr. Light, Eddie, Barrell Caskett, Metall Daddy, etc. were Robot Masters...or all bosses for that matter.

So are they still looking for additional support to fill out those unclaimed characters? Doesn't really say on the site, either.
