National Public Radio Interviews Get Me Off the Moon

The 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3 Facebook group has posted a very special update to their page. In an effort to get the word out about the movement, International Strategies Leader Matt Papa scored an interview with one of the largest radio stations in the country: National Public Radio (NPR).

"While I was not able to secure as many interviews as I would have liked to, we WERE interviewed by easily the biggest name at the entire con: National Public Radio," reports Matt from the MAGFest floor. "That's right dudes, NPR interviewed us about 100,000 Strong AND Mega Man Legends 3 to put in a segment they are doing on MAGFest!"

According to Matt, the MAGFest feature won't air for another few weeks. In the meantime, we're told to keep a close eye on NPR's schedule for when the segment airs. Of course, I'll be sure to give everyone a reminder, too, when the date draws closer.

About 34 million people tune into NPR programming each week. So, yeah; the fight for Legends 3's reinstatement just got a whole lot more interesting. A little mainstream exposure could go a long way. Best of luck, Team Legends!

  1. I still come across people who didn't know Legends 3 was in the works, much less cancelled.

This could do a lot of good. Keep up the good work: this just might become a thing.

  3. Which show is it going to be on? I don't see any guest info on this schedule.

  4. Great! Maybe after this, Capcom will finally release a Mega Man game on a console EVERYONE owns instead of the 8 people who still own the 3DS.

  5. I'm not sure which program it is going to be on yet, as the guy who interviewed me didn't specifically say. I sent a request to NPR to get me in touch with him or send me the air date when it is determined, so hopefully I'll get some more word from them soon :]

  6. LOL at second Anon. A lot of people have the 3DS, and it's doing quite well now. 3DS bashing is so 6 months ago. The system is no longer in "imminent death" territory, since it actually has a lineup of good titles now. Nice try, though. :P

Anyway, about GMOTM being on NPR, that's cool, but I wonder how much airtime will actually be devoted to the cause, if it's about MAGFest, and not cancelled games.

  7. @Takara_Kitsune Oh yeah, let's see... Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart 7, Smash Brothers 3DS, Tekken 3D, Street Fighter 4, Snake Eater... YAAAAWN... I'd rather play their console counterparts.

  8. Give it up, you hapless fools.

Legends 3 ain't never gonna happen, and even if it did get made, without Inafune overseeing development it's going to utterly disappoint you anyway.

You're fighting a futile battle. Plain & simple.

Lol at stupid assumptions.I don't think he was threatening anybody.Just saying his own wish.

    Anyway lets wait

  10. @second anon: 3DS is the fastest selling Nintendo console to date now I'm pretty sure. Might want to check your facts before you fail troll again.

  11. People say that the movement is a waste of time. Okay sure, everyone has opinions.

But people telling that it's a waste of time are also wasting their time. =P

  12. @Professor Megaman:
    Lol.

One only loses when he give up.

And did you know that Inafune wasn't the ONLY person that worked on the games? If he was, the game would take more time to be completed, it would certainly be different, and the credits would be quite short!

    Legends never die!!!

  13. Nice. National Public Radio. This just goes to show what the power of fans can do

  14. People who tell us to give up are wasting more breath than anybody else. Putting effort to fighting for something you're passionate about is a million times more admirable than the faceless pessimists whose passion equates to mere cynicism. Only one of the two has an objective, an outcome to pursue and to make a reality. The other is geared by a drive for self-gratification, to stand for nothing and to avoid the stress of a campaign via cynicism an provocation.

Failure is a possibility but not an option. We won't ever give up. Legends die hard.

  15. @McWhalen: When did I say they were threatening anyone? O_O Unless "bashing" now means threatening. I didn't get the memo.

@Anon that replied to me: That's fine, it's your prerogative. :3 Doesn't change that it's had excellent sales as of late, and most are pleased with the current library. Either way, I've nothing against your personal choice to prefer the console versions.

  16. Yes, Legends 3 would theoretically endure without Inafune...

The same way Ren & Stimpy endured without John K...

The same way The Simpsons endured without Brad Bird...

The same way Zelda games endured without Miyamoto...

The same way video games endured without 2D sprites...

Yes, things go on, but not unlike a zombie dragging it's decayed remains around the cemetery.

    Ugh just forget it

  18. Y'know, I was looking forward to it as much as anyone here, but has anyone stopped to consider that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't turning out so well? We only have the words of 1 person who managed to play it, which, considering that no one else would get to play it, could easily say it was great.

I don't really see them cancelling games for no reason; perhaps, the game just wasn't working out.

(And now I wait for the inevitable attacks by other people who don't want to hear anything/believe Capcom hates them personally/whatever other stuff...)

  19. @Previous anon:
Capcom was so vague that the reason for cancellation could be really anything and/or everything, not only the game. Maybe Capcom...

...didn't had enough money to fund it? Inafune said several times he needed money for it.

...(lost data/accidentally deleted the game/Mettaurs/quake and nuke) and couldn't afford to restart it?

...thought it was too risky and decided to kick the game, specially when one of the latest MM games was the pitiful "Operate Shooting Star".

...the tought not enough people cared to buy the game and give them more profit than Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 together?

    ...just for the "lolz"?

  20. @Professor Megaman: The part about Zelda and Miyamoto is subjective at best.

I could say all of it is subjective at best. Guess what, not everyone is going to have the same opinions as yours and no one feels inclined to follow suit. Give it a rest, you say that the movement is a waste of time but you're also wasting your own time by telling them off.

  21. @Professor Megaman: He was involved in Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time 3DS work. The DS ones he wasn't involved with and those have mixed opinions. There goes your comparison.

  22. Guys, you're arguing with a person calling themselves "Takara Kitsune." I think it's time to back it off.

Would you keep us posted about this? Like, if a broadcast date is announced, could you post it?

Or, if the interview has already been broadcast, could you tell us how it went over?

I don't listen to npr, but I would love to learn how this interview went.

    Thanks.
