Rumor: 8ing Might Be Working on Additional Mega Man 11 Content

If a recent listing on the Steam Database is to be taken at face value, more Mega Man 11 could be on the way. On October 10th, Mega Man 11's Steam Database page saw the addition of a post-release branch titled "8ing".

According to speculation, the branch name is a direct reference to 8ing – the Japanese video game developer who worked with Capcom on Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. The existence of the 8ing branch suggests Capcom have outsourced, or are collaborating with 8ing to develop future Mega Man 11 content. To date, 8ing have not worked directly on any Mega Man game.

Beyond the "Wily Numbers Instrumental Tracks" pre-order DLC, no additional Mega Man 11 content has been announced by Capcom. However, it's worth pointing out that the game does check for DLC upon boot-up. So if additional content is planned/currently in the works, Mega Man 11 is already primed and ready for it.

So hopefully this will amount to something. I mean hey, I know I could go for some DLC. (second playable character, please) I'll keep you posted either way. Thanks to Hanumachine for the tip!

  1. If it comes with new stages, boss, playable character, or music, I'm up for it.

  2. Here's hoping it's Proto Man or Bass!

    1. This. For me, it's those two or bust.

While they're at it, they might as well go ahead and make the "Wily Numbers Instrumentals" DLC available for everyone. For whatever reason, the copy that I pre-ordered never came with that like it was supposed to.

    2. Same, my amiibo edition never came with it, but I got it with my digital PS4 version at least.

    3. For the Amiibo edition Gamestop emailed the code to people. It didn't come with it in the box...

  3. Any DLC is a good thing, but I would shit BRICKS if I could play Mega Man as Tekkaman Blade (from tatsunko vs) :p
Never gonna happen but I can dream :)

  4. If it is for a playable character, my money is on Bass or Roll. Proto doesn't offer much of a difference in gameplay now that you can slide and charge, unless they want to add him as an extra extra hard mode. Roll could be the "classic Zero" character like she was in Powered Up, and Bass has a different enough play style.

    1. I'd be all for that. Roll with a better combo attack would be great, and then Bass with double jumps and dashing would be fun.

Maybe Proto Man could be like he was in PU, overpowered shots and high jump.

    2. I will never understand why people think just because a character played a certain way in past games that it is set in stone for life. I mean Mega Man changed in your example of not needing Proto Man for goodness sake.

Proto Man in my opinion should be hyper reinvented moveset wise, he should be all about his shield, he should throw it on the ground and ride it like a ground chaser for manuvering over hazards like spikes, he should have a mechanic based on timing a perfect block with his shield that upgrades your next attack like Mighty Gunvolt Burst, he should reflect projectiles with it, he should use special weapons made specifically around the shield like reflecting Bounce Man's weapon to more accurately aim them like Pong or use it like a surf board to elevate his jump using Tundra Man's weapon.

If you are going to make a DLC character especially a payed one, make it worth a damn, a new character that has a slightly better jump or slightly different shot or worse yet simply changing the look of the model but overall having the same gameplay is not enticing to general people. No, make something that will blow minds and seem like hey that really changes the game up I really want to play that.

Also PS I know this is contentious but those hoping for Roll as the first major DLC character really want to keep the series niche, appealing to a "certain crowd" aesthetically. Buuuuuuuuut, have at it cause the way this game is looking so far it is as niche as can get and might be the last one we get for a while so best request for everything you want in your wildest wet dreams to be in this game and end with a bang.

  5. HOLY...!! what a slip up!
been trying to figure out for a while who was the developer, I'm shocked they got exposed like that!
saying they are responsible for the dlc only is a nice save from capcom tho, I can see how most people will believe that.

I'm familiar with 8ing stuff and it's like, the shoes fit too damn well, but i hadn't even considered them because they normally produce only licensed anime and toku stuff these days
they're like a higher grade specialized TOSE

  6. I'd love Bass like in MM10, Roll like in Powered Up, and some new kind of 'hook' to Protoman. Make it happen, Capcom!

  7. That's strange to have them doing it. It makes me concerned that it's not going to be ProtoMan, Bass or Roll. I would really rather have them as playable characters than anything else. Still, the art director had drawings of ProtoMan that he had shown off during MegaMan 11's production, so I'm hoping that he will at least become playable and have a story of his own for the game.

  8. Crossing my fingers for Proto Man and Bass.

  9. I just want like a lot more stages. Maybe make the other MegaMan playable!

    1. More stages is THE BEST IDEA FOR DLC!

TO HECK WITH THE CONVENTIONAL 8. Heck give me 16!

    2. If they made more stages it won't be new stages with new robot masters.
They will most likely be filler stages, the missing intro stage, more willy's castle stages, or old stages with old bosses from MM1-10.

    3. You say that like it'd be a bad thing. Old stages with a MM11 makeover and redesigns? Excellent.

  10. So, it continues, awesome! Hope for the best now.
Protoman and Bass could be cool yeah, we will see!

  11. I betting itll be either Forte or Blue for dlc maybe even both spread out along with some stages and maybe new bosses and weapons

  12. I noticed it checks for DLC upon every boot-up as well, not just the first boot. Idk if people who don't have the pre-order bonus get that check, but I would assume they do. Here's hoping for the return of playable Roll, Construction mode, and maybe some reimaginings of old Robot Master stages. If the last one does happen, I'd definitely wanna see Astro Man be one of them.

  13. If it's Proto Man or Bass, rather than just the ability to play through the story with them, I'd rather it explain WHERE they were during the events of 11. My biggest gripe with the games as of late is that the main three playables are all essentially locked in their own storylines. Mega Man hasn't even spoken to Bass since Mega Man 8. Is it too much to ask for a smidge of contact between these characters?

  14. To be fair, this DOES have some legitimacy; last time a listing like this appeared on Steam for a game, we got Sonic Mania Plus.

  15. I would like to see a return of Playable Roll.
If they did a Proto Man mode, I imagine they will crank the difficulty up to like 13
I would like to see a return of Bass, but I would be cool if we could just fight him if not play him.

I would REALLY like to see a return to Powered Up where you can play as the Bosses. That would be unique.
Not sure you could do it in this case with Impact Man or Bounce Man.
But maybe let us play as the Light Numbers. That would be sweet too.

Will wait and see if they do anything at all.
