Rumor: Capcom Has Hired a New Mega Man Producer

If yesterday's TV series announcement wasn't enough, word has it Capcom might have sworn in a new, dedicated Mega Man producer. The news comes from the officially-licensed Mega Man board game Kickstarter, where Jasco Games claims a new individual is at the reigns. The new producer is said to be working close with Jasco on finalizing the board game's visual assets. No name was provided.

Pending official word from Capcom, I think it's safe to take this statement as an unconfirmed rumor. In all honesty it would not surprise me in the slightest if it were true. From an influx of legacy titles on Virtual Console and PSN to the new cartoon, there is some viable evidence to suggest someone is dictating the course of the franchise from here on out. New game or no, things aren't as idle as they have been.

The wheels of change are starting to spin, I believe. With a new TV series on the horizon and now the possibility of new leadership, it's clear Capcom has not given up on old blue just yet.

I'll believe a revival when I see it.

  5. I am sceptical times infinity. Mega Man fits in way better with Nintendo than with Sony,Remember that Capcom when making the new games.

    1. I wish Sony,Nintendo.Microsoft, would just stop bickering and acting childish and let all games be on all consoles so people can play them on their prefered console i hate buying a ps4 then seeing games only come out for xbox one, of wii u

    2. Well, if they put all games on all consoles, why buy any specific console? Why buy a Wii U or XBOX One when you could just buy a PS4 and get it all? Then Nintendo and Microsoft lose money like crazy. It's not about being childish, it's about not failing.

    3. Mega Man belongs to Capcom and Capcom is extremely unlikely to sell the franchise. Just face the reality already. No matter what company you think Mega Man "fits in" with more, he's at Capcom and he'll likely stay at Capcom. People may be upset about the cancellations from the past five years, but that's hardly a reason to believe the franchise will be sold off.

    4. I'm Talking About Console Exclusives,Like how Capcom made Street Fighter exclusive to Sony. Well Capcom should make Mega Man exclusive to Nintendo,it's only fair. plus,I am opposed to all future Mega Man titles on the Vita.

  7. HOPE!

This may be the turning point we've all been waiting for. Our fandom has been slandered with being a rage base, lets view this as a positive curve and hope for the spotlights of our blue hero once more!

    1. Yes,hope!

I am tired of a lot of the fanbase being bitter and negative. You are not helping. Optimism should be at the forefront here.

    2. Odd since the fandom has pretty much been keeping the franchise going in every way they could for the past five years.

Can't take anyone with that opinion seriously myself. Not to say it's been perfect, but even so.

  9. I fear the new producer of Megaman game is not a Keiji Inafune because he will change Megaman character's life and our life with a scar forever...

    1. Why do people think this? Mega Man's identity changed completely numerous times while Keiji was producer. Classic/X turned into Legends turned into EXE. So really I have no clue why people think things are going to change so drastically when this has always been the case.

  10. Just wondering, is it Mega Man producer or Rockman producer? Is CAPCOM USA (If it was Mega Man producer) allowed to make a new Mega Man game (especially any main numbered games)?

  11. I don't know if it'll mean anything yet, it's too soon to tell. The announcement of the cartoon DID get me curious though.

  14. Here we go: they'll make a severely underbudgeted game, get a mediocre result, small sales and say the fans shown with their wallets that there's no intrest in more Mega Man Games.

    Darkstalkers Resurrection ALL OVER AGAIN!

    1. Except DSR wasn't under budget, it was a simple port of two good looking, fully functional games that never sold well before, intended to expose the series to the current market with added features.

Here we go again though. Capcom makes a new MM game, the fans bitch and moan it doesn't adhere to what they like exactly, it sales like crap, Capcom stops making it then fans gain amnesia and moan on and on about how the very game they panned before was a classic and one of their favorite games for various reasons, and then say that Capcom sucks and is just stupid and hates fans and money.

    2. If DSR was meant to expose the series to the current market, you'd think they would have advertised it to the current market.

Also kindly cut the blanket statements about "fans."

    3. I'm sorry for the sass, I hadn't realized the trailers made and posted on popular news outlets and official company community sites like these

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A4fPuMitys

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqBhOMBDgCs

      weren't considered advertisement.

I also formally cut the blanket statements about "fans."

    4. And I apologize for not being more specific. I should have said they would have made "more of an effort to advertise to the current market." Or something along those lines.

It's unfair for me to say they did nothing at all.

That said though, I don't think two videos on Capcom's own Youtube channel is going to hit that big of an audience. People who follow their channel would be the ones most likely to purchase the games anyway, I would imagine.

Though again, I'm sorry for making it sound like they did literally nothing.

      And thank you.

    1. Yeah the ones we know about right? The ones that announce before being green lit and invite everyone to participate in, or maybe a leak of the pitch for a concept that was never really approved of, or maybe even the licensing of a game from an outside company that is going bankrupt and then them stopping production of a game but people blaming the parent company for it anyway? Or maybe you are referring to the the ones we never here of, that may have existed since 1990?

All sarcasm aside Mega Man Universe was a bitch though (I loved the idea behind that game).

  16. Whatever comes down the line, I hope it's given a fair chance and not met with snap judgments of "oh too different" or "oh too same" or anything like that. Spreading negativity and FUD out the gate if anything new gets announced is really not going to help things in regards to seeing new games happen at last!
