New Mega Man Trophies Confirmed for Smash Bros. Wii U

By way of the Director's Room Miiverse, Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed not one, but four Mega Man trophies for the Wii U version: Bass (with Treble), Zero, Roll and Proto Man. He writes:

"Pic of the day. Here's Bass, a trophy for the Wii U version!! When I first saw this, I was really surprised by the quality of this trophy and Treble's presence. Even though this will only appear as a trophy, this was made from the ground up. Designers really are amazing."

Sakurai adds, "Zero's here too!! There are also trophies of Roll and Proto Man." He didn't specify which version of Roll/Proto Man, though. My bet's classic series... but, hey, you never know!

  1. I'm betting Roll Caskett! How cool would that be! Classic Proto Man is a safe bet as well, since I can imagine the devs wanting to redesign him to feature Mega Man's new look.

    1. It's going to be Classic Roll, being the most iconic version of her, just like Classic Proto Man after all.

  2. That Bass is amazing. I was hoping Treble Boost would be a boss for the Wii U version.

  3. These two look cool I guess. What I really want them to work on is the single player experience. I hope it has better things to offer than the 3DS version in that regard.

  4. Wait a minute, did Capcom seriously license out the entire Mega Man franchise for Nintendo to use? If that's the case, might as well work together with them to make a Mega Man game while they're at it. I thought Nintendo was only allowed to use selected licensed characters before, now with all the trophies I'm not so sure.

  5. Bass is my absolute favorite character in the classic series, so naturally, I'm quite delighted to see that he and Treble will be making some sort of appearance in the game, even if it is just a trophy cameo.

  6. That Bass and Treble trophy is out of this world. It's a damn shame these characters aren't anything but trophies. Could have been assist trophies at least. Those designers really did a great job though. It makes me somewhat disappointed to know that Mega Man is shackled to his 8-Bit appearance when he could have looked like that and had a similar stature. I think it's the most well-rounded look.

Maybe all of their versions? ;P

  8. They kinda effed up Zero's saber, it looks kinda weak with its shape and transparency and what not. Other than that Bass and Zero (still say in terms of proportions and accuracy TvC Zero looks the best, if only it had higher res graphics) look great.

    As for Roll I hope it's Roll.EXE.

    1. Actually, I think the real question is, when are we getting any Mega Man game at all? Aside from a certain piece of garbage iPhone game, that is.

  10. I sorta hope there will be trophies of other non-classic series characters other than each series respective Mega Man + Zero, but that's probably too much.

    1. This is what happens when you have a series with to many goddamn sub-series, said sub-series get pushed into the background for the main stuff.

    2. If I remember right, they confirmed that they were using the models from Mega Man's final smash to make trophies for Volnutt, Exe, and Starforce. Though whether or not they will actually get any more trophies beyond that, I have no idea.

  11. They look pretty sweet, especially with that shine on Bass. But does Zero's saber look a little too, y'know, blue?

    1. It's almost always blue in artwork, just in game it's green.
