New Rockman X Artwork Kicks Off Rockman X 25th Anniversary

At the closing ceremony of "Rockman Unite", Mega Man 11 stage designer and Battle Network scenario writer Masakazu Eguchi joined Rockman Unity's Takekuni Uchida for a small reveal. While nothing game related was announced, attendees got the chance to see a brand-new piece of artwork drawn by Keisuke Mizuno. Featuring X, Zero, Axl, and Alia in Mizuno's fan-favorite art style, the image will reportedly be used in a yet to-be-revealed product that will be sold at E-Capcom.

As avid Rockman fans will remember, Keisuke Mizuno has been working as illustrator and character designer since the Rockman EXE 5. More recently you will remember him for the main illustration of the Rockman X Anniversary Collection 1+2.

Mizuno's new X design was firstly introduced as an April Fools' in 2014 and later ended up becoming a figure released by TruForce Collectibles via Kickstarter back in 2015. Mizuno's Zero design was seen for the first time as an alternative costume for Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite. Unfortunately, this design didn't become a figure.

This new and exciting piece of artwork leads us to the 25th Anniversary of the X series, which officially tomorrow, December 17th, 2018.

    1. Arm and hair.... I'm not trying to be mean but are people literally blind? The character is nearly entirely different except for his face.

  8. I would not be upset if the next X game used the Ver.Ke style.

    1. Why, for the literal sake of it? Or let me guess for the sake of "female" representation, because you know that's not superficial at all. Next thing you know we need the ethnically diverse hunter (nah MM community don't give a hoot about that). Anyway the only reason for wanting Alia to be playable in the main campaign, which is what I think you mean, is for gender or................................................................................................................................................................................... I got nothing else....... More character skins???

    3. That's what I'm talking about. Finally someone who proudly says the real reason why they want something like this.

Much respect to that response, and I hope you get what you want. Just saying tho she doesn't need to be a main playable character for that, you can play as her like a skin kinda like what we had in X8 just you know not hidden in a mode unlocked after beating the game just a non canon mode tho.

    4. Playing as Alia as one of the multiple cast would be great.
Hopefully with a bit of story and not just a pallete swap like in X8.
But if we got the X8 playable treatment I would conplaign. Too much.

    5. No one gives a dang about Alia beginning playable with a bit of story outside of fake sensitive people that are thirsty for waifus.

Anonymous 5:27: Has the best response for wanting her.

    6. @12:01 you obviously can't read or have no understanding of the definition of "no one".
And liking the character Alia is not some mystical connection to political correctness.
      spare us.

  13. I love the artwork, I hope that is the x9 cover art. I did those 2014 X and Zero redesigns I love them. I hope that is how they look in x9. Oh man please capcom make x9 happen

  14. These look GREAT! I really want X9 to be 16-bit=ish, though 2.5D would be ok too, but I've always said I really hope they don't go with the skinny X8 redesigns and instead go back to the X7 and earlier.

These are redesigns, sure, but they fit the bill for not being skinny. Bulky legs and forearms are so much cooler looking. Use this for X9, Capcom. If not going totally back to the original designs, this is what the X series should look like in 2019.

  15. 😧 They know we want it but there's still no announcement of X9...Maybe when Megaman 11 dies out we will have a chance.
