Kotobukiya Announces Rockman EXE Model Kit Line and "Second Armor X" Model Kit

Kotobukiya announced today during the Rockman X Model Kit Talk Live Ver.2 show the 10th model kit in their Rockman X model kit line. Not only that, they announced the beginning of a brand-new Rockman EXE Model Kit line. Find all the info after the break!

First, coming out from yesterday's reveal of the 4th Armor final design, pre-orders will start next month and, via the Rockman Unity Twitter account and the Kotobukiya Twitter account,we got to see the box artwork for both the regular 4th Armor and the Rising Fire Version (shown above).

During the live show, they also revealed the Rising Fire Version model kit promotional poster that will be displayed in Hobby Shops.

Next, we have the 10th model kit in the Rockman X line. After the release of the Max Armor and the 4th armor, they are going backwards instead of forwards, choosing to pursue the "Second Armor X" from Rockman X2 as opposed to the Falcon Armor from X5.

The model kit will come with various hands and a face to make "injured" poses which seem to be reminiscent of Iwamoto's Rockman X manga.

We don't have the release date or price yet, but you can see more of images of the unpainted model below.

-------------------------------------------------

And last but not least, the big surprise: they are making Rockman EXE model kits! The first model kit will be Rockman.EXE which comes with the Dream Sword effect part and the second model kit will be the Dark Rockman variant which comes with a small Mettaur.

Again, no price or release date revealed but both are due next year.

While the "Second Armor X" looks great, I personally can't help but be disappointed that it's another X model kit again. But the surprising announcement of the Rockman EXE model kit line certainly has left me excited for next year. Let us know what you think about both announcements in the comments!

  2. I'm looking forward to 2nd armor. I wonder what repaint it will get...

  3. I've been wanting a figure of the Second Armor for years, so this is great. I still think that easy ones of X and Zero can potentially pay for more risky characters in the future. I hope he comes with a Shoryuken effect piece!

And I know very little about Battle Network, but I love a lot of the designs. If they do Bass.exe and Protoman.exe, then I'm sold.

    2. Rising Fire flaming fist effect part should do the trick.

  4. *sigh* so much for hoping they'd release a sigma or iris model kit, guess that's not happening for a long time now. -_-

    1. It's probably part of the Rockman.exe anniversary merchandising batch. Which they have to do, well, in time for Exe anniversary.
While other character, if they happen, can happen anytimes.

  5. On the contrary, I am disappointment they chose to make Exe instead of MOAR X kits. I'd rest easy knowing they made every single X armor and then move on to other franchises or spinoffs. Yeah, that's selfish, but, what, I love X, lol.

  6. "Next, we have the 10th model kit in the Rockman X line"
    - I'm confused, isn't this the 9th model kit from the X line? 2 regular Xs, 2 third armors, 2 zeros, 2 fourth armors, 1 second armor.

    2. duh, I missed rising fire X. You're right. Man.... these came out so fast. 10 already! in what, in a span of 1-2 years? Crazy how they're making so much middle to high end products of a basically dead mainline game franchise.

  7. I guess this means they'll be done with X figures after this. They'll do EXE figures then probably more MM Zero figures which will sell so poorly the line will stop for another 10 years...

    1. I think they're testing the waters. If the battle network figures sell better, X line will probably end. If it doesn't sell well at all, they'll probably stick to the X line.

    2. It's a BN Anniversary celebration. They're nowhere done with X.

    3. I wouldn't conflate the two... As long as either line sells, they will make more. This one might be selling better, from the looks of it, compared to the original. Even though the original line sold enough to re-print them :)

  8. booyah! X2 armor! I hope they continue the X line and we don't get a repeat of the Mega Man Zero model kit where it kills mega man model kits.

but man, when are the kotobukiya nightmare zero and rising flame mega man going out? November is almost over, and I still haven't gotten the falcon armor roibot thing. anyone get theirs yet?

    1. The rising fire is already released and shipping. And I haven't gotten mine even the falcon. -_- and yes... We don't have any news about Nightmare Zero.

    2. Still waiting for the Nightmare Zero and Rising Fire X... Though I think in Japan they either released or are about too based on the pictures of actual stock boxes I saw
I think the western release is a few weeks behind.

    3. KotoUS has listed rising fire X as having a december release date. so we'll probably get it december 31st, though nightmare zero release date still says november.

  9. I was really hoping for Sigma, Iris and Axl

  10. Second Armor X's Buster Upgrade was so damn awesome. That Double Charge Shot demolished absolutely everything. I hope we get Vile in the future.

  11. I did'nt even envisage that they would make another serie even though when you think about it, it makes sense with the Battle Network anniversary next year.

  12. A thought occurs. if you got the original X kit and the various armors, couldn't you do official art poses?

  13. People talk about X series and Zero series etc bro Its just X and 12% X series Zero and just Zero... There is no X series there is literally a series of Xs cause that is the extent of the risk Koto is willing to take.

  15. I've bought all the kits so far and they are great but I'm a little burnt on X. How about some bad guys from Megaman, Megaman Zero and Megaman X. Any of the robot masters, Bass, Xs evil clone, Omega, the Four Guardians, Double, Vile, Gate etc... I'd also like a Mythos kit but that's definitely not happening.

    1. You want the Four Guardians? Watch Eastern Model; they've put out Zero, and next is Copy X; their design is modular, and the figures share the same skeleton/frame, thus the Guardians will basically just be new armor.

Even though these designs are stylized: they are much higher quality model kits than Kotobukiya is managing.
