Smash Bros. - Mega Man.EXE & Zero Mii Costumes Now Available

UPDATE 6/14: And they're out! They're $0.75 a piece or you can buy the 3DS/Wii U bundle for $1.15. The eShop is all kinds of crazy at the moment. Patience!

Original story: A day ahead of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. direct, data miners have extracted two new Mega Man Mii costumes from a patch added to the game’s Japanese servers. So pretty soon, it looks like you can trick out your Mii to look like Mega Man.EXE and Zero (X series, no less).

The full details of the leak can be found on Gematsu and NeoGaf. We'll be learning more about this content tomorrow!

Thanks for the tip, Brandon and Christopher!

  1. Hopefully Volnutt gets a Mii Fighter outfit as well.

  2. Wonderful! I had no idea they would make a Zero Mii costume! Maybe this means a Bass costume is possible.

I hope they don't stop releasing Mega Man costumes until they've made every last Mega Man in Mega's final smash.

  3. Ryu's in Smash for all you 'Nintendo loves Mega Man, they are giving him all this special attention as if he were their baby' people out there. I am pretty sure they are just banking on iconic characters in general.

    1. Ryu being in the game doesn't take away from everything they have done with Mega Man. They even said these costumes were added due to franchise popularity. Compare it to something like Mega Man's appearance in Marvel 3 or UMvC3.

Nintendo does seem to be pretty fond of the series, given their recent actions.

    2. Nintendo seems pretty fond of cash, that about it.

    3. Well someone might as well be using Mega Man to make some cash.

    4. ^On top of Street Fighter and Pac-Man, and Sonic and Pokemon, and Super Mario and TLoZelda and Metroid and....(30 ands followed by iconic series later) Tekken and Virtua Fighter and Rayman and The Wonderful 101 (and previously Metal Gear) and etc

    5. ^Ryu Hayabusa has a sword??? I don't know what else you want from me man...

    6. Ryu from Street Fighter? Looks more like Akira Yuki from Virtua Fighter. I'm not kidding, look at his screenshots from the first arcade game and tell me its not him.

  5. It's miraculous that MegaMan.EXE is included as DLC.........there are so many other popular characters that Smash fans would vote for (i.e. Snake, Ice Climbers etc.) and somehow EXE and Zero were chosen. I grew up as an EXE fan, and I think EXE and Starforce are probably the least known of all MegaMan incarnations, too.

    brb crying.......

    1. Well Starforce, but EXE No. The least known are probably between Volnutt (as much as hardcore fans my like to think he's popular), Subaru/Geo, Vent/Aile and Gray/Ashe most likely in that order as well.

The most popular and recognizable are easily Mega Man Classic at number 1, X at 2 and EXE at 3 though.

      Delete
    2. I wouldn't say MM.EXE is the least known. Battle Network had a cartoon that was broadcast in North America and line of figures aimed at kids, remember?

      Delete
    3. Correct. EXE just might be the second-most popular Mega Man.

      From Mega Man Knowledge Base:

Mega Man Battle Network 4 is the 2nd best selling Mega Man game in the entire Mega Man franchise with an estimated 1.32 million in sales. Mega Man 2 is the best selling Mega Man game, the estimated retail sales are 1.51 million.

Aside from that, I'm hoping Volnutt is the next costume. I have a feeling that he's going to be overlooked, though. Also, while I can't wait to download these costumes, I think this pretty much means Zero won't be joining the roster. I thought he had a good shot, too.

      Delete
    4. I thought Zero had the best shot of all MegaMan related characters at making the roster, EXE second.

And you guys are right that I'm wrong about " EXE and Starforce are probably the least known of all MegaMan incarnations, too."

      Delete
    5. @EngineR2: Yeah but I'm pretty sure the X series out sales EXE as a whole.

      Delete
    6. I don't know if that's true. Battle Network had another game that sold over 1 million if I remember right, and the later X games had sales drop off that seemingly moved the series away from consoles for many years.

Then again, it might still out sell the EXE series (talking units sold, not profitability) in terms of units simply because there are more X games.

      Delete
    7. @Engine2: The fact it had an anime and manga at the time and EXE 3 was the best main game in the series certainly helped the sales from EXE 4, considering it is so-so/meh compared to others, specially the English version with its awful translation.

  6. Thanks for Nintendo direct spoilers for barely a day before the broadcast, though I guess I should learn that I trust no corner of the internet, not even the Rockman one.

  7. I spent actual money on the Proto Man costume, and I didn't regret it, it was awesome.
This is great I love it and YOU ACTUALLY GET THE Z-SABER
    THAT IS IMPORTANT

    ReplyDelete
  8. Is this what Zero was fighting for?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Not good enough, Sakurai. I want to use both the Zero Buster & the Z-Saber. I want to have both long range & close range weapons for Zero to use.

    ReplyDelete

    1. It's a Mii costume, not a new character.

      Delete
    2. He should've been a new character. He has more weapons then just the Z-Saber, you know.

      Delete
    3. Why would they make a new Mega Man character? There's no reason to, and if they did, a lot of people would be calling it a waste, like how they're calling Ryu a waste. A Mii is better than nothing.

      Delete
    4. But still... Zero's my favorite video game character of all time...

  10. Its good Capcom is bringing more Mega Man related things for Smash, even its only for Mii Fighters, but its really disappointing that people really have to leak it out before E3. Why do they have to do this so badly? Why is it really important to leak it out? Why couldn't they keep it a secret until then? Is it because these data miners wants pride, honor, fame, and gratitude from us? I'd rather say go to hell them because this is really annoying...

  13. Is there nothing Zero won't stick his light saber in?

And now they're adding Roy back in. Might as well rename this game "Nintendo Buddies vs. 1001 Sword-Swinging Anime Cliche's".

    1. They are Miis, that is the best you're getting, I'm sorry. Ya'll are some mopy, negative a** people I'll tell you that much.

      Delete
    2. One or two not so positive comments with the rest of the comments being relatively positive (at least about the content) and you make the idiotic blanket statement that everyone is negative?

I wish I were shocked at this point. I'm not. But I wish I were.

      Delete
    3. I see 2 positive comments before I posted that comment, outside of that it's either people barely care about the content and whine about something else they'd like, are astonished about and/or analyze the popularity of different MM, OR straight up hate on the content.

You can white knight all you want, but it'll not change the end result. Also don't add your conditions to my statement, I even consider this exchange and my previous comment negative, I never said people where only negative about the content. On top of that I wasn't even drawing only from this specific comment section when I stated that. But white knight mentality usually doesn't take context into account.

      Delete
    4. If you only saw 2 positive comments before you posted you couldn't have seen that many negative comments either. Saying something like "hopefully another character costume gets added too" is in no way "whining" as it takes nothing away from the content being released now, it's just hopeful optimism for future potential content, which if this is any indication is completely possible.

If you saw the "analysis" posted above you should also be able to see that the person who originally commented is extremely happy about these costumes. The analysis isn't really negative in any way. You might be surprised to find a conversation can take place without a real positive or negative spin. Just two people having a talk.

You use extreme hyperbole, make the blanket statement claim that "Ya'll are some mopy, negative a** people I'll tell you that much," and most importantly you ignore all of the positive reactions to the news. Then when someone calls you out on it, you hide behind some nonsense "white knight" excuse.

I'm not saying all reactions are justified, and if someone does give an outlandish reaction to something, they should be called on it. But you also shouldn't label everyone from the actions of a few.

If you choose to ignore all the positive reactions, focus only on the negative stuff and make your idiotic blanket statements based on that, there's no point in taking your opinion on any group of people seriously.

You claim your own comment is negative and this exchange is. If you're going to contribute to the negativity feel free to leave. If you want to say you think someone gave an unjustified response to something, you can do it without labeling everyone and spreading more negativity, especially when, as mentioned, a lot of the comments here are neutral to positive.

    5. Again with the need for white knighting, ignoring relevant context, ignoring info directly given to you by the person you're engaging with even. In any case, the answer to all your quibbles is still in my second response, reread it to find my still valid refutation. You can relax though, sorry I triggered you by saying "ya'll", if you still find something to complain about after that, well maybe someone else can give you the attention you desperately must be wanting by then.

One thing I will address before ceasing this discussion is your last little piece. Yes I claim even my comment is negative, but if you took two seconds to think about what that meant, you'd realize that A. I could have realized it in retrospect (which is the case) B. that it is negative because it is elicited from already negative material (like this little confrontation here), and that basically it could have been made as such, depending on its context (for example, might not have been around people with thick skin and a sense of banter vs uptight pri-people that take offense to everything).

      Delete
    6. Please stop that. The Miis are useless and nothing to do with negative. We can tell our opinions base on honesty. If you don't like it then feel free to leave here. You have no right to throw words at people's right of opinions. You are a piece of jerk. Have a respect for one another and let them express their own freely. You coward! You are hyprocisy anyway. Sorry about my English.

I don't think even you know what you're on about anymore. What white knighting? What context? Explain yourself or stop talking. The "info" you're supposedly giving isn't clear, and it needs to be when you yourself are creating the narrative.

Your explanation isn't doing much. "A. I could have realized it in retrospect (which is the case)" Could have realized what? That your comment was negative? Or is your B case saying that in another context your comment wouldn't have been negative?

I'm pretty sure making an inherently negative sweeping blanket statement is negative regardless of context. You just might not have gotten called out for doing it around people with "thicker skin" as you say. I'm just sick and tired of all the blanket statements, particularly about the fans, that get made around here without any thought going into them. It has been happening for too long.

Sounds like in the end you're just trying to deflect. You started in with a negative toned comment, got one in response, and now it seems like you want to say the negativity came about because someone responded to your negativity with negativity, not because you posted a negative comment yourself in the first place.

    8. Fine I'll bite, I'll give it to you direct, cause it seems your reading/general comprehension is low.

What white knighting? You're defense for the MM fanbase. What Context? Me not saying "ya'll" based on the comments I saw on this exact thread alone but others in the past, along with videos and various other mediums fans have expressed their opinions on, as well as this comment section.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. My explanation explains everything, you just can't piece things together for jack. You've said why make a negative comment with the intention of being negative, I inferred I didn't, then proceeded to give you two explanations to back it up (and even said one was the case in brackets).

No, using generalities about people being negative is not inherently negative, and when I do make generalizations people do sometimes call me out for it, just not usually from a position of deep offense, (example guy1: ya'll sleep too much, guy2: actually I barely sleep in the night and he doesn't at all, you just always catch us at the wrong time, All laugh and get on with their lives/ even if they did sleep too much, offense is rarely given it is taken).

No I'm not deflecting, you're projecting your negative preconceptions of others that use "blanket statements" on to me. I did not start the negativity, the person I replied to did, and I'm not blaming anyone, I am perfectly fine with negativity first of all, and the first comment reply I made originally came from a position of friendly banter. It was only after I posted the comment, looked back on it and said to myself, 'yeah I could understand how someone could misconstrue my comment as there is no tone to back it', thus realizing it was most likely a mistake to post it like that, noticing WHERE I posted it. I can't make it any clearer than that, So yeah, most def my final word on this.

    9. Wow, you talk too much. Relax, man! Jeez!

    10. Agreed. I'm not even going to bother responding to him at this point. It's pretty clear from the little story he came up with that there would be no point.

    11. Which one are you^? If you're the guy talking about anti blanket statements, I disagree with almost everything you have said, 10x more if you're the same one that spammed the Mega Man Legacy reveal post. The other one is in the right IMO, except gets trolled too easily and really does need to relax and let things go.

      Now can this end?
