Customizable Controls For Zero Collection

Coming from an eye witness account of the playable Mega Man Zero Collection demo at WonderCon:

"I played it at Wondercon, and at least from my short time with it everything seemed to work exactly as it should. They even have fully customizable controls, thank God."
[...]
"Like I said, there is a custom control option that lets you map the buttons however you please. It was the first thing I checked for, because it drives me nuts when games have jump/shoot switched around from how I like it, which is my beef with GBA emulation on the DS in general."

Had a friend of mine confirmed this too, and according to him, the booth's Capcom rep mentioned the option applies to all four games. This should come as good news for those who'd prefer a setup reminiscent to the SNES style layout of the early X games. No complaints here!

On a related note, the aforementioned Capcom rep also commented on the game's release date, and despite a delay in Japan, the compilation is still on-track for a second quarter summer release. More details at Captivate 2010, hopefully.

  1. Up to this day, I'm STILL wishing that Capcom, Atomic Planet, or whoever, had thought to do this back when Anniversary Collection was in development. Gamecube owners got screwed over big-time.

  2. I Wish they did this with Mega Man anniversary Collection

  3. You could map the buttons fully back on the GBA versions of Rockman Zero, too, you know. -_-

What a pointless thing to praise, you might as well put up a whole article about being able to turn on the DS when you press the Power button.

  4. The GBA games didn't have this kind of freedom, Saito. I played ZC at Wondercon, and the GBA games had you select the "type" (Type A,B,C) of control settings. Zero Collection let's you input the actions wherever you may please, you can even set things like dash to down+jump button or even map things to the bottom screen.

  5. This pleases me. Day one purchase definetly, so annoyed with the preset shit from the originals.

  6. Furthermore, you can map everything to the face buttons now. There's enough room to move dashing and the sub weapon onto Y,X,B,A etc.

  7. The Presets basically gave you control setups for basically all the major playstyles.

Considering the GBA was only four buttons, I'm pretty sure you're not the type who's gonna put Dash on A or B, or Jump on L or R.

See why this little "update" is stupid?

Oh wait, I almost forgot the mentality of most MM fans these days... -_- *coughromhackofmm2soldfor$10andcalledmm10cough*

  8. ...And there you go yet again, Saito, waltzing in like the arrogant prick you are, steering your nose up and looking down on anybody who has an opinion that differs from your own. Honestly, just who are you to dictate what people can or can't enjoy? Is it hurting you in any way that people enjoy Mega Man 10 and/or Mega Man Zero Collection? If not, then piss off and shut up about it.

Considering the games are both nothing actually special, then yeah, it is dumb to pay money for garbage. If you haven't noticed, people like you, and others, are the reason why these games/rehashes/fast ones, are being made, instead of an actual new game.

Many homebrewers and hackers have already proven that MM10 is nothing more than a modified MM9 with some slight additions.

And you can easily get all four Zero games in their original GBA formats for a much cheaper price than the DS collection is going to be priced at.

Do you know why SSR died? Because fans like you bitched about it "not being EXE."

Do you know why ZX died? Because fans like you bitched about it "not being Zero/X."

Do you know why there'll never be a new DASH? Because fans like you bitched that it wasn't "a true classic/X game" but NOW you'll all go "WE WANT A NEW DASH!!" after realizing the fuck-up you guys made.

Do you know why EXE OSS was made? Because Capcom has a sense of humor and wanted to laugh at you people.

Do you know why MM10 was made? Because Capcom knew that fans like you are dumb enough to shell out $10 for something that ROM hackers could do for free, and much better. *points to the numerous good MM2-6 hacks out there*
Then there's the fake-DLC of things like Bass, the Special Stages and so on, which are actually ON THE GAME ALREADY, but all the "DLC" does is flip them on. Homebrew owners can simply "turn them on" without the need to pay an extra $10-15 for them.

I'm not being "an arrogant prick," I'm simply saying the cold harsh truth of why Rockman/MegaMan is basically a dying franchise now. And only it's fanbase is to blame.

Way to stereotype and throw around generalizations. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm not even a huge fan of Mega Man Zero or just about any series that came after X in the first place, and I am by no means, looking forward to another Legends game. I've played the first Legends about seven years ago. I didn't think it was anything special back then, and I certainly don't now.

Also, I've developed a bias against Mega Man 2, and feel that it's highly overrated, but do you see ME going around, ridiculing and being a disrespectful prick to those who enjoy it? It's one thing to hate the games and/or to rant about them, but to go around, treating people like they're stupid because of what they enjoy is completely uncalled-for. That's pretty much all I've seen you do. You've attacked people (such as myself) who were looking forward to seeing Bass in Mega Man 10, and generally anybody who had anything positive to say about that game and/or Zero Collection in general, and I don't know about anyone else, but I've gotten pretty sick of it.
