Capcom Sees Film Industry As Easy Money, Future Franchises To See Theatrical Adaptations?

Capcom is no stranger to the movie industry. With three Resident Evil films and a few Street Fighter films under their belt, Capcom thinks its time to bring on the heat.

Bloomberg is reporting that Capcom is currently in talks with Hollywood film studios to produce films based off of their numerous franchises.

"We are in the process of working out contracts for several offers we received at the Cannes Film Festival last week and hope to make an announcement soon,'' Tsujimoto said in a Bloomberg Television interview broadcast today, declining to provide specifics. "If realized, the projects will have a big impact on the game and movie industries.'' "

Capcom's strategy is to emulate the success of Marvel, who have adapted their more popular comic franchises into big blockbuster hits.

Possibilities of a theatrical Rockman film? Maybe so, but we've already discussed why that would be a bad idea.

Who knows what the future holds.

  4. ... Methinks shadow may be not real?? ... Not that I don't hope he's right... but would it not be for wiiware, and not VC, if he were telling the truth?

  5. This is the truth.... and when you see it's true. I will return with more info..... but you will see...... and you will be begging for more. Testing for the game is almost complete.

  6. I think a Megaman movie would be a great idea. It'd help Capcom finally put the last nail in Megaman's coffin. It'd be more humane than churning out another hundred disappointing sequels and ignoring the fans.

  7. Err... did you read the other entries? They said Rockman would never die. I hope that RM9 is real...

  8. It's real and it's coming soon, the testing for it is being locally done in California and we are almost done. Here is a hint.... 2 playable characters and it's not Bass this time.

  9. How do you leak information without getting caught? Seems risky to me.

  10. I don't think a movie would be a terrible idea. The most adaptable series is the X series, in my opinion. If they tried to make it live action, it would tank, but a 3-D movie might be nice (provided it's good 3-D and not cartoon-ish like Pixar or Dreamworks).

  11. Well, I agree that a 3D adaptation would be best, but I believe that pixar or dreamworks would do the best job. Their productions are such high quality that it would be best-- they could do a different graphic style. Now, I'm not even going to try to argue which series would be best... *COUGHexeCOUGH*

  15. I prefer Rockman CG like Biohazard: Degeneration CG Anime known as Resident: Degeneration CG Anime. And it should be from Japan and translate it in english for USA and not USA made please, thank you.
