The Oldest-Known Rockman Guide Book Has Been Preserved

The Rockman Kanzen Hisshou Bon (better known to English speaking fans as Friday Special: Rockman Total Winning Handbook, courtesy of #20) is not only one of the rarest Rockman guide books, but also the oldest. It was published in Japan on January 17, 1988. That's precisely one month after the first Rockman game hit store shelves. And now for the first time ever, you can admire it without forking over a fortune.

Over the weekend, our friend digi from Rockman Tanjou scanned both the book and the equally rare, if not highly obscure bootleg language version. You can download the pair right here or here. The text is written entirely in Japanese (bootleg version is Chinese) but it's the posterity that counts. The cover is wonderfully charming, too.

Also, do note that since the book is pushing 30-years-old, a lot of the pages aren't in the best condition. There's quite a bit of dirt and general wear. But again it's the posterity that counts. This is the first time this ancient piece of blue bomber history has been properly preserved. So don't delay! Hit up those download links above!

  1. The artstyle is old school even compared to the original game cover.

  3. The picture quality is impressive for the time, most magazines had this blurry type of photos but these guys made an excellent job. Kudos for the owner!
