Kotobukiya Zero: Now In Color

Enough of those bland, grey prototype shots! Now's your time to show your true colors, Zero! Kotobukiya has unveiled the final, full color mold of their upcoming Rockman Zero model kit, and needless to say, it's looking spiffy.

Zero was originally due out in Japan this month, but has been delayed until October. The model kit includes a number of accessories, such as Z-saber, Z-Knuckle, Buster Gun, and interchangeable faces. All this comes in an incredibly awesome boxart, pictured in the above. Not sure if its Nakayama's doing but, man, it's a beaut.

  1. Is it me or does Zero look like he has a big head and no neck?

  2. It's because of the angle. He does have a neck.

  3. i think it only looks like that in the third pic... other than that not too bad. if you look at drawings of him then you will realize that that's actually pretty accurate...

  7. On a second look, it ALMOST looks like it has those proportions of the earlier kits, bit some of it is still off.

The translucent green is gorgeous, but maybe that's because I have this strange fetish for any translucent plastics.

  8. The boxart is probably drawn by someone at capcom, like the other 3 :)

  9. Dissapointing, as i tough. HUUGE head and no neck? WTF?

Heres hoping Bandai D-Arts would tacle Z-Zero as well, since he ranked pretty high in both polls.

Z Zero is my favourite, but im not spending any on this.-_-

  10. Not as excited about this as I thought I would be. :/

  11. Damn, that looks pretty awesome. As much of a pain it was to build the Kotobukiya Rockman, it was still worth it. I'm so buying this when it is released.

  12. I REALLY don't understand what all these people are talking about above. Classic proportions...not really? No neck...not really? I'm so glad I'm not an "avid" model collector because I would probably destroy myself for being so picky. Quite frankly, this is one of the best official models yet. As good or better than custom Wonder Festival kits. Only nitpick I have about it is the lackluster faces, but I suppose they work. So if anyone from Kotobukiya sees this, please don't get discouraged. There's no need for Bandai to make a Zero figure aside from the upcoming X series Zero. =D

  13. Thats it???!!! Thats all the weapons he comes with???!!! What a complete rip off!!! And he still has a big head!!! And oh wow, the Z-Knuckle, like thats so hard to make, wheres all his other weapons at??? Man, the sculptors Harvest-wks and Atelier-Sai Zero are way better than this crap. Well it is better than the Jazwares one for sure. lol! And I am liking the faces, but other than that, its just pure crap. I hope now Bandai tackles this one now. But for now, i'll be skipping on this s&%$#.

  14. What's everyone talking about with the proportions? The proportions look fine to me. Zero IS much shorter in the MMZ series than he was in the MMX series. I think this is actually rather accurate.

  15. With all due respect MegaMac, i strongly dissagree with you.
Im not an avid collector either, and i wont argue with you that this is the best oficcial representation of Z Zero to date.
(It was either the crappy Jaswarez stuff, or the Custom/Garage kits that are expensive, hard to get, and can turn out very wrong of you dont know what you are doing.)

But a lot of people share sentiments on his proportions looking WAY off. And its not about the angle either, but the third pic looks VERY derp -_-

Also dont expect the D-Arts Line to be X-Series Exclusive.
I sure hope they would get around to make a Z Zero figure as i would no doubt buy it. Hell, i could even skip X Zero and his upcoming Z Saber version if i knew for sure they would do it.

  16. I really don't think D-Arts needs to have a Zero Series figure. It'd be very redundant. I do agree with the Anonymous above about the lack of all the weapons, but still, that doesn't make the figure "pure crap". That's just being completely childish and inconsiderate. As for the ongoing sentiments about the proportions being off, please see the link below.

The proportions are just fine. lol

  18. @ MegaMac

Hey shut the f@#$ up!!! I'm not a avid collector either, but you have to admit that looking at the kit, theres something wrong, in the head, body proportions and stuff. Even in the box illustration shows the saber a much brighter color, and yet the saber is a dark green??? We waited and waited and waited for a Zero and this is what we get? What a rip off! harvest-wks and Atelier-Sai Zero might be very hard to find and expensive, but hey theyre more accurate than this. I'd rather spend a lot more to have a more accurate Zero, with all his weapons, or more weapons, than this.
And your complete wrong, Bandai is for sure going to do a Zero from the Zero series in the D-Arts line in time, why, because its business. Money! And its going to be better than this crap.

  19. Over all people, he has a big head, childish painted colors, complete lack of weapons, and proportions are off. Basically, problems...
kotobukiya does do some really good cool kits and busts, but they really sucked on this one...

  20. I like it!.....BUT the head still looks kinda big for his body... (even more so with that comparison image << Zero is bending forward in that ..so his head would appear bigger lol ). Though I think it might be because the spikey things on the side of his head are sticking out a bit much?..

Not sure if I'm going to pre order him yet.. D-arts X was epic though.. might wait for a D-Arts Zero Zero >.>

  21. Hey, Anonymous. I'm not here to argue, frankly because there's nothing to argue about. I've proved my point with proof. Sure, the proportions may not be EXACT, but from the way you are acting, you're just a complete ingrate which has little sense. Childish colors? How? This Zero has a realistic paint job with a nice shaded look. You also say D-Arts will make one because business is business? Well, if that it so, they would have made classic figures too, right? Bandai seems to be making what Kotobukiya isn't, which is just fine. If they make one eventually, that's fine too. So I say stop being a picky shit and enjoy the fact that companies are actually making awesome, affordable figures for all! =)

Or...you can find one of those Jazwares Zero figures to purchase instead? lol
