Threezero's MDLX Mega Man line continues with their newest release: Fire Storm Mega Man. Is this just the same figure in a new color scheme, or is there more to it?

The BigBadToyStore exclusive MDLX Fire Storm Mega Man is here and has Mega Man sporting a red-orange and yellow color scheme. The red-orange armor has an eye-catching shine that makes it stand out beautifully. The bright yellow complements the overall design perfectly, creating a striking balance. In terms of color representation, this figure absolutely delivers. While it is a little disappointing to see yet another figure themed around a fire weapon, the excellent coloring more than makes up for it.
At first glance, this is a wonderful looking figure. Unfortunately, the face-plates included are the same as the previous MDLX Mega Man, so the eyes have the shading on the top. In most poses, the faces will look fine, but this line is begging for a new face, and fortunately, the upcoming MDLX Metal Blade Mega Man will remedy this issue. But this isn't about Metal Blade, it's about Fire Storm, so let's get more into this one.
The articulation for this figure is really good, but it does hit a few snags. While I was able to get Mega Man into the poses I was going for, I did end up hitting a few snags along the way, mostly with the overlapping plastic on the shoulders temporarily impeding movement. However, it was easy enough to work that back into place and get the pose to work just fine. It's also worth noting that the actual Fire Storm effect is very impressive looking and has no trouble staying in place.
The balance on this figure is outstanding. At no point did it feel like it might tip over or that the joints wouldn’t hold up. It’s capable of a wide range of poses, though it helps to get a feel for how the joints move and respond first. With a bit of practice and care, you can pull off some great poses—just be mindful while doing so.
I’m still disappointed with this figure specifically as a representation of Fire Storm. You jest, but if the new accessory budget was always just “alternate buster nozzle,” they probably should’ve just done Flame Sword. But I guess Mega Man 8 isn’t as “evergreen.”
ReplyDeleteOh, I would have loved Flame Sword.
