Before the Final Showdown, Rockman X DiVE's ViA Reveals His True Form

ViA has been a mystery since day one; scheming from the shadows and preparing "the player" for a final confrontation. And now, that time is almost upon us.

In a scene from the latest story mode chapters (Chapter 20-4 and 20-5), RiCO and "the player" managed to extract the Robot Destroy Program from ViA. This led to a battle against the "Last Irregular Data", i.e the Sigma Virus. ViA appears before them sporting a brand-new armor and a clearly visible face. He is battle-ready for the final confrontation...

... It remains to be seen if the release of 20-6 will mark the end of the current story arc or the story mode altogether.

The development team hasn't made an announcement yet when we can expect to go toe to toe with ViA one more time. However, considering there will be no maintenance next week and the current DiVE Armor Iris capsule ends on February 1st, it's safe to assume the last Story Mode chapter (and most likely a playable version of the new ViA) will drop on February 1st.

Let us now what you think of this new revelation in the comments!

  1. Finally, the real version of ViA.

This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Megaman X.

    1. All the more reason we can OBVIOUSLY expect X9 right? I mean, it only makes sense being the 30th anniversary! - haha! -ah ha hah....who am I kidding?...

    2. Yeah, and considering the X collections sold well and they promised it would depend on that and sales of MM11, but I'm not surprised if people break their promises are are all talk. Seems like even profiting isn't enough these days to guarantee a sequel. So sad. Capcom is now a shadow of its former self, but it is as I say, nothing lasts forever. So no surprise. Well, maybe the designer of Corrupted will succeed and one up Capcom.

    3. It's so true though.

Despite some people being in denial about it, this is just another sign of living in a late stage capitalist world. It's not just games anymore, even animation is taking a similar hit. It's no longer about achieving enough success for your company to sustain itself, it's all about achieving an absurd amount of profits. Moderate success is now considered a failure in major companies, and the only IP's that are allowed to exist are the ones that makes billions.

I try not to be cynical or malicious towards anyone, but I honestly hope one day Capcom screws up again and takes a hard enough hit. It seems unlikely, but if they tanked hard enough it could hopefully humble them.

    4. @Gearz just wait for their next god awful movie or TV show to come out. Though, they haven't learned not to do that yet...

Or, you know... since we're in the mode of wishful thinking anyway, why don't you just..... Not hope that, and rather hope they just are successful whilst supporting franchises you love....

      Anyway that's messed up.

I mean maybe it might humble them. I am not seeing how that resolves the neglect of their IPs tho. It doesn't seem logical or pragmatic that them tanking would therefore lead to more risk taking or focus of resources on lesser selling IPs. If anything all it seems that would do (assuming they could still fuction) is have them focus MORE on their highest selling IPs, with the only real difference being that they scale production down to their capabilities.

Sure, absolutely. When we start getting more evidence that will happen, but as of now for the seemingly past decade if not longer, we've barely seen any real progress. Capcom is just too much of a giant now to really a care for any IP that doesn't push past the "couple o' mill" mark, and that attitude certainly isn't going to change anytime soon, not when they know they'll make a 100x more from a single MH game than they will from anything Megaman, Breath of Fire, Darkstalkers, etc.

      "Anyway that's messed up."

No, saying I wish the people in charge at Capcom would get mauled by an army of rabid raccoons is messed up, I don't wish that upon anyone...except maybe scammers, or clowns...or scammer clowns. Trust me, there's far worse things people have said to earn the "messed up" badge than my comment.

It's pretty much a given that most major media company (or business in general) will always take the "safe and uninspired" route whenever they get too big. Capcom, like anything else, started from humble beginnings and gave us wonderful titles with plenty of variety and innovation. It was all about making fun games and making enough to stay afloat, now? It's all about staying the course and squeezing out the most profits possible, with little to no room for anything smaller to breathe.

Anyways, look...I get where you're coming from. Really. In truth, I don't want people to lose their jobs. And deep down I'm pretty sure even my take wouldn't make any a difference. I just feel there are people at the top who are making some rather shallow decisions for a long time now. I want Capcom to thrive, but I want them to also remember all these other amazing IP's that they're practically forgetting exist a more fair share in the light...and listen to the fans for Light's sake!

    7. @Shrap In light of recent game adaptations I'm staying...cautiously optimistic. Than again, this is Netflix that's doing the movie, right?

    8. Capcom has been trying for 30 years to figure out the movies. Your more optomistic than I am. Given their history, those involved and Netflix, it will be an abomination unlike anything we have ever seen, me thinks.

    9. "light of recent game adaptations I'm staying...cautiously optimistic."

Not me. I don't think anything was well adapted outside of maybe Sonic (and even then I only really like the visual redesign of Sonic characters themselfs, which is ironic considering what it could have been). Especially Netflix produced ones. Resident Evil was... Not that. Halo was... Not good. Heck as an actual Castlevania fan unlike these normie fad chasers (I am half joking) that show has the regal and noble Alucard acting like a sarcastic, TV teen father and son drama, highschool, emo/frat boy. They turned Issac into a black dude fighting and liberating slaves or some BS, Carmilla into some femdom dominatrix with a petty feminist bent of envying and trying to subjugate men, and Hector being the poor pathetic dude she gets to successfully test this on. Whether you like these takes or not, they cetainly aren't derived from Castlevania characters or lore.

This is all to say I am way less enthused than most about the prospects of a Mega Man netflix production.

    10. Don't forget them turning Dracula, the most evil of evils, into a pouting little baby. Shame, the first four episodes of Season 1 were really good. But Season 2 was such a disappointment, I refuse to watch the rest.

    11. It would be better if Megaman went the way of Half Life with fangames if they aren't going to do anything with it like they have for the last 20 years. Re-releases don't count.

  6. Great, so we're fighting Sephiroth now. Lols

I guess it's no surprise that it's just... literally Zero but with white hair. But I guess after so many flashes and teases of the crazy virus face, I was just expecting something, I dunno... more sinister? Compared to stock bishonen prettyboy here? XD

  7. Too bad the majority of the playerbase is literal years away from being level 130+ and at a high enough arbitrary number to even see the story.
