Mega Man X2 To Hit European Wii U Virtual Console This Week

According to a list of this week's European eShop releases, Mega Man X2 will be available on the Wii U Virtual Console this Thursday for €7.99 / £5.49. As per usual, if you downloaded X2 on Wii, you can score the Wii U version for a discount.

Hopefully the North American release isn't too far behind. Mega Man X2 is the last title to hit the Wii U Virtual Console in Japan. Let's hope we'll finally get Mega Man X3 next.

  1. Considering Europe had to wait a good 4 months after the US for X, this is good.

  2. If I have it and buy it for Wii U version for a discount ?? Again ? Can't I just transfer Megaman X2 from Wii to Wii U ? I am not buying again for a discount if I have it on Wii already.

  3. You can't transfer. If the console recognizes you have X2 in Wii Mode, you'll receive a discount on Wii U.

  4. Thanks, Protodude. I understand but as I said I am noy buying again for a discount if I have it on Wii already. A little bit disappointment, perhaps. Oh well. Thanks again for the news. :-)

  5. Discount or not, I still think it's complete BS how they make you pay for something you've already purchased. As such, I'll be giving this one a pass, will be sticking with my copy of Mega Man X Collection. I am, however, willing to make an exception for Mega Man X3, since its (eventual) Virtual Console release will be the original SNES game. You know, before they watered it down with the so-called "remastered" soundtrack?

    1. Hey! I like some of the themes in the PSX soundtrack. XD But I agree that the SNES music is far superior.

    2. Admittedly, I like some of them, too. Doppler Stage 3, the final Sigma theme, and the ending music are some of the very few songs that are on par (or even better) than the originals. Other than that, most of the songs were severely watered down from how they originally sounded, with Blizzard Buffalo's stage, Vile's stage, and the Doppler boss themes are prime examples.

    3. Meh. The PS1 soundtrack sounded more "X" to me. As for the SNES, Kinuyo Yamashita could have done a better job, me thinks. Along with Wily Wars on Genesis. She really missed the mark there. She was much better with the NES.
