Covers & Solicitation for Mega Man #34 (With Mega Man X!)

The new solicitation and cover for Archie's Mega Man #34 is now available, and it looks to be a doozy! As promised, this is the issue that kicks off the first Mega Man X backup story. Read on:

"(W) Ian Flynn (A) Gary Martin & Various (CA) Patrick Spaz Spaziante

This is it! The issue every Mega-fan has been demanding! The debut of Mega Man X! But first, in 'Shadow of the Moon' Part One: Mega Man joins a research team seeking the truth behind Dr. Wily and Ra Moon. But how far will they get when Shadow Man goes on the attack?
Then, in 'The X Factor' Part One: jump 100 years into the future as Dr. Cain discovers Dr. Light's final, greatest creation - Mega Man X! Featuring pencils by the returning Mega Man art legend Patrick 'Spaz' Spaziante! The road to the next big mega-crossover starts here, featuring an exclusive Mega Man X variant cover by superstar artist Ben Bates!"

First I've heard of this "next big mega-crossover." Could it be? A Mega Man/Mega Man X crossover? I suppose we'll have to wait and find out. Stay tuned!

  1. So a Mega Man comic with numerous publication delays over the past few months has decided a Classic/X crossover is a good idea?

Gee that doesn't sound familiar at all.

  2. I'm genuinely curious how Archie Comics plans to handle the origin of X. If they're smart, they'll do like the games do and completely ignore the Classic series in the X timeline.. I'm scared they'll just end up pandering one way or the other though. ("X is Megaman with his memory wiped!")

    We'll see, I guess!

  3. Personally I'm hoping for Sabrina Meets X, where X and Sabrina have to team up to stop Vile from destroying Greendale.

What other properties does Archie have? Josie & the Pussycats? Betty & Veronica?

    1. There's no way it's not a Classic/X crossover, the first interview about the backups mentioned they were to lay the foundation for a story in the summer.

  5. Hey, Spaz! You're drawing a side-comic that introduces readers to Megaman X. Sound familiar? Can cancellation be too far behind?

I'd like this comic to get better, but I'd rather it die quickly before Flynn goes all "Star Wars Prequel" on us.

  6. "lololol the comic will totally go under because there's a few dreamwave coincidences"

Try again when we get reports of Archie artists not getting paid or funds being siphoned into another company.

    1. Meh. If the kindergartener who's been doing the "pencils" lately is still going to be doing them, cancellation would be fine.

  8. Goodness, but we're a bunch of pessimists in here.

As a fan of what Ian's been doing with the Sonic comics, I'm pretty sure that this X story is going to be at least a fun ride. Besides, it's an alternate continuity. If you don't like where it goes compared to the other takes on the Megaman story, fine. Just ignore it. Go read MSPaint Masterpieces. (Seriously, go do that.)

  10. Where can I order a physical copy of this online? I am full on ready to purchase that alt version. Hell if they made the cover a poster I'd buy it as well.
