Rockman & Forte WS Robot Masters Recreated in NES Style

Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future, a Rockman game licensed by Bandai for the WonderSwan portable system, is perhaps best known for its wonky Robot Master cast. There's Aircon Man (an air conditioner), Konro Man (a portable stove) and Dangan Man (a freaking bullet), among others. And you thought Sheep Man was weird? Puh-lease.

Because no one really does anything with these guys, Tarbo thought it might be fun to recreate each Robot Master in 8-bit. The above video comes from Tarbo's work-in-progress "Roll-chan" fan-game, which shows off what it might be like to fight those weirdos in an NES-style Mega Man game. Impressive stuff, to say the least.

Like what you see? You'll find more Roll-Chan gameplay at Tarbo's YouTube channel here.

  2. That's pretty impressive.

Love to see him do something with those PC game rejects though could be funny.

  4. What a suprise. Fans doing something five times better than Capcom.

This looks cool. I especially like the MMII victory remix after he beat R. Shadow.

  5. I have to admit, despite how weird those Robot Master designs are, their attack patterns are fairly unconventional for a Mega Man game, especially with how you had to use those clouds as platforms to reach up & knock AirCon Man out.

  6. This video was a nice touch. I always wanted to see them in a NES style game. The Robot Master's patterns are mostly the same as in the original game I think. But, Clock Men should be destroyed at the same time, but it's more interesting this way. It's like a Gemini Man battle. But the single pattern is too easy I think. R.Shadow is much easier here. He doesn't jump while trying to slash at low health. He jumped while he tried to slash us, when he had really low health. Or he just didn't have the chance to do it in this video?

  7. Normal boss music is Yellow Devil's boss music from Mega Man The Power Fighters:

Rockman Shadow's boss music is an unused piece of music from Mega Man 7:

AND THE FINAL VICTORY THEME. OH, YOU SLY FOX:
I can't seem to find it, but it's the stage clear song from Mega Man 2 GB. Har har.

I prefer melee, Zero-esque Roll. Also, where's Proto Man?

Also also, I see he's still using PTTUNE for his music :I

  11. They're not bad, but I feel like the patten on some of them are a bit too...well, same-y (even if they are unconventional for a Robot Master fight, which I like), if that makes any sense. (especially on the first three and Clock Men). I guess I'd just like for them to not exactly shoot at the exact same positions every time? I'm not sure if they have the same patterns as in the WS game, but even if they do, I wouldn't necessarily object to tweaking them just a tad to mix things up a wee bit.

  13. That looks so good! a nes remake of the ws game should be done specially because of the story of that game.

I also loved the voiceclips he added to the playable characters like Bass saying "I'm the strongest" in japanese after defeating a boss.
