Nintendo Channel Touts Mega Man 10 Play Data

As of yesterday, the Wii's Nintendo Channel began keeping track of Mega Man 10 usage stats, which track how long a game has been played and other miscellaneous tidbits. The data isn't meant to show how well a game is selling, but how often it gets played by people who own it and who've opted to let Nintendo snoop around their play history...

Courtesy of Coffee with Games (via GoNintendo), here's Mega Man 10's stats:

Quick Info:
Mega Man 10 was released through Nintendo's WiiWare service on March 1, 2010.
Mega Man 10 took approximately 50 days from its release, for the play-time data shown to appear on the Wii's Nintendo Channel.
Mega Man 10 costs 1000 Wii Points to download.
Mega Man 10 was developed by Capcom and Inti Creates.

Approx Number of Players Reporting Data:
Mega Man 10 currently has 7,463 players reporting their play-time data.

"Total" Game-Play Hours Reported:
Mega Man 10 has 54,018 Total Hours reported, for its debut on the Nintendo Channel.

Wii Shop Channel's WiiWare Rank:
Mega Man 10 is currently sitting at the #5 spot, in the WiiWare's "Popular Titles" section.
The "Popular Titles" section shows the "Top 20" most popular WiiWare titles that are being downloaded.

All of the above numbers can be found under Mega Man 10's page on the Nintendo Channel. All in all, I'd say everything looks pretty good. Those play time hours are just monstrous; I guess people are getting a lot of replay value out of the multiple characters, extra modes and the like.

  1. 7,463 players, huh? I think that alone says something about this game's sales. There's no doubt in my mind that Mega Man 10's sales were off the charts. I don't know whether or not it sold as well as Mega Man 9, since 10 wasn't quite as revolutionary (as well as the fact that quite a few people are getting fed up with the 8-bit "gimmick"), but I'm sure it still did well, nonetheless.

  3. @Krazy Monkey: I may be wrong but I think as far as game sales go, 7000 isn't a very impressive number.

  4. @Anon #2: This is only for players who've opted to allow the Nintendo Channel to track their game usage.

We don't know sales data yet, as far as I know.

  5. @Anon #2 - this is also only the wii's date, not the PS3 or the 360's
