Dr. Light's Journal Included with Japanese Legacy Collection Limited Edition

Love Mega Man lore? You might want to keep the limited edition Rockman Classics Collection bundle on your radar. What was initially believed to be a lackluster box of "school supplies", the limited edition package will include a copy of Dr. Light's journal. The entries within are said to provide "illuminating insights on subjects ranging from Rockman to world peace."

By way of the Reploid Research Lavatory:

"Along with the daily planner pages, we’ve also included a Research Journal with pages of notes detailing the experiments of Rockman’s father, Dr. Right — published here for the first time ever! These memos can only be found in this exclusive notebook. Revealed at last, Dr. Right’s illuminating insights on subjects ranging from Rockman to world peace are a must-read.”

According to the Reploid Research Lavatory's findings, this new journal looks to expand upon the Right’s Journal segments from 1991’s Rockman Character Collection. It's hard to say at this time if it will include any new information, like fun prequel-based world-building or, dare we speculate, the gap between the classic and X series.

In any case it's something to look out for. No doubt the Lavatory will keep us posted on further developments. Bookmark it!

  1. I swear to god, if they try and bridge the gap between 20XX and 21XX...

I mean, it's really super-doubtful they would. But...

    1. The path to X has to be established at some point and I'd really like it to happen in my lifetime.

It's scary to think about. Not only is it possible that we may have to say goodbye to our beloved Mega Man at some point, but it's possible that CAPCOM could mishandle the transition story and further infuriate the fan base.

That story would make one hell of a good video game.

Nah, not really. =) It does not need to be established. I'm one of the few who hopes they keep that bridge as vague and ambiguous for years to come. I like to be kept in the dark on this with my own headcanons regarding it. For there to be an answer would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

    3. As strange as it sounds, that's my thinking on it, too, ocelotlrama. For some reason... that curious ambiguity is something I've come to love. They could have, at any point, said "da-da-da happens". But they decided to keep it up to the fans and never even hinted that anything happened. All we know for a fact is that all the old robots (except Auto, if you count his cameo in X3) vanished and Drs. Light and Wily's seemingly sole creations continue on.

    4. I guess it's just a personal wish :/

I've waited for something to be said about it since the first Mega Man X came out in the 1990s... now that I've hit my thirties, I'd kind of like some closure, or at least, something hinted to the fact that it may come at some point in my life. I feel that I am owed that for spending nearly my entire life playing Mega Man games.

There are so many possibilities and routes to take for a new set of games around it and I really think that it could be exciting stuff! Hell, I'd be excited to see anything new with classic Mega Man at this point.

    1. Like all other books and manuals that have been scanned...
I'm surprised how many Rockman scans aren't in the web yet. Manual-wise many are missing, while other franchises like Sonic, Metroid and Castlevania have near every manual in every version (US,EU,JP).

  3. I assume the chances of this little notebook being a part of the stateside collectors edition are slim.

  5. Looks interesting.
If I remember right, Capcom also did something like this to a Biohazard (Resident Evil) game, a notebook with some notes and many blood marks.

  6. Of note, the notebook isn't exclusive to the Limited Edition, it can also be bought separatedly:
