A new bite-sized Rockman game hit the mobile market in Japan this morning: Rockman Poker. The name of the game says it all, really. It's poker with Rockman characters. No gameplay gimmicks, snazzy music or sound. Bare bones in every sense of the word. At least the sprites are nice (they're animated, too!) UPDATE: Additional screenshots available at Gamer, for those interested. It appears Bass is a challenger, too.
Subscribers to Capcom's Capcom Party mobile service can snag Poker for free, so it's at least worth a shot. Could be fun, I suppose. The again, I think we'd all much rather pay good money for a quality game that took some effort to develop. Not knocking anybody who worked on Poker, but... c'mon, guys. We're long overdue for some real blue bomber gaming.

ReplyDeleteHey, remember back in the day, when we had real megaman games being made? I mean, sure, they were rushed to hell and the quality left a lot to be wanting, but still... it could still be called Megaman, and actually had a chance to be localized...
Now it's just like... cheap cash-ins and cameos... We went from quality, to quantity, to "just stick the name on it"... *sigh*

ReplyDeleteFrom the screenshots it's not clear if you can use characters other than MegaMan (is it even multiplayer?), but oh well. The sprites looks nice. I hope someone rips them. Also Protoman totally has the upper hand thanks to the shades.
