After Monday’s tease, Kotobukiya officially announced a new Zero model kit today. As expected, it’s the first version of Zero from the original Mega Man X game.
Officially called "Zero 1st Ver.," this new version of Zero will be available to pre-order tomorrow, September 4th. (UPDATE: Pre-orders open at Hobby Link Japan and Big Bad Toystore)
This kit includes the iconic iron pipe from Zero’s battle with Sigma, as well as three interchangeable face parts, marking the first time a Zero model kit features expressions with his gaze shifted left and right.
Other notable details include compatibility with the flowing hair parts from the Zero Nightmare Ver. and Black Zero model kits.
The Buster shares the same sculpt as Mega Man X Full Armor, but the parts that were originally painted white have been changed to silver.
The ankle pieces have been redesigned from the original Zero model kit, now featuring a three-part configuration similar to the “Mega Man -Mega Man 11 Ver.-” kit. This improvement reduces the chance of parts coming loose and makes it easier to achieve stable poses. The new pieces are even backwards compatible with previously-released Zero kits, so you can upgrade those too!
I'm hoping maybe we get the alternate hair for nightmare zero. one can dream
ReplyDeleteI like it. But I am a bit miffed. Why do they insist on not including the improved hair piece? Also, I doubt very much the ankles have been "fixed" if that's the same part that snaps in the foot. We can't tell in that view. Did you notice he comes with a head gem with the "W" in it? That's a neat thing.
ReplyDeleteI lost the bet. Here is one 🍪.
It's been a year and we still have not seen Sigma in color, yet we got this in full color in 3 days. That makes all the sense in the world. But, that being said, the inclusion of the pipe might lead to Sigma either having options or a more likely second release as Commander Sigma. All you need to do is swap the knees, wrists and head and you have it. Maybe Sigma will be a deluxe kit. He's likely going to be expensive due to size anyway. Might as well add in a few more bits. They probably won't, though.
knowing them there'll be a few sigma variants at the very least to squeeze out more money
DeleteThat's assuming enough people buy the one Sigma to start with, though.
DeleteIdk if they’ll do many Sigma variants. He’s beeg, and usually has an all new design. And forget about his final phases (besides Viral Sigma I guess).
DeleteI think they’d be better off doing Vile. He’d be a new character, is a more manageable size, and could get away with more “cheap” variants (X1 and MHX).
Oh I fully expect them to make at least one Variant. It's what they do. It will be a premium color version (which I don't buy) or a Commander Sigma version. Or a Marvel Vs Capcom Player 2 color or some dumb thing. But they will do it. Odds are good.
DeleteI'm not worried about the sales side.
As long as we have a poseable Sigma, I'm happy.
DeleteRarely does koto make a megaman kit without releasing it again in different colors / sheens
DeleteThey should do Sigma Vacation version. Color his torso/shoulders like he’s got a Hawaiian shirt on.
Delete@Jark That's kind of random, but I lol'd.
DeleteZero's price is pretty good. I'd pay more for a better hair piece...
DeleteI already have his D-Arts figure from Bandai, but this kit is tempting with the pipe and the "W" headpiece.
ReplyDeleteWonder how the X1 shoulders would look on the other Zero’s. Even Nightmare and Black.
ReplyDeleteAlso: is it really a pipe if there’s no hole in the middle?
They appear to finally have the buster and elbow joint aligned properly. At least according to all the older art.
ReplyDeleteStill no news for sigma... If it continues like this the next figure to be released Will be vile
ReplyDeleteDude I asked kotobukiya for this on email about in July and boom. Here it is. It's a dream come true!
