In case you haven't seen it before, Capcom has made the full Secret Level episode Mega Man: Start available on YouTube for free—no Amazon Prime account required. The release coincides with the grand reopening of Capcom Town, where the episode is "playing" at the Capcom Theater.
Mega Man: Start runs about seven minutes, roughly five without the opening and closing credits. It follows Rock’s transformation into Mega Man as Dr. Wily rises to power and larger-than-life Robot Masters wreak havoc across "Mega City". While most Secret Level episodes received mixed reviews, Mega Man: Start is one of the few that drew praise... but it's incredibly short.
There's no telling how long Mega Man: Start will stick around on YouTube, so you might as well check it out. It'll be over before you know it.

This is absolutely AMAZING!!! this is the rockman remake we need for the current generation
ReplyDeleteAll 7ish minutes a new content record lol
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely watch this if were a full show. My only wish is that the robot masters would not just giant dull lumbering mechs. I'd rather they be more accurate in size and visually striking. Still don't get why they used Bomb Man as the giant behemoth instead of, say, Guts Man.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly.
DeleteI'm so glad to finally watch this for free
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it although I was not a fan of the portrayal of Bombman as basically a Mad Grinder level robot.. Definitely something I would like to see changed if they continue on with the series. Show accurate robot master sizes, show their personalities.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't count on it, but I agree.
DeleteIt wasn't as bad as i thought it would be! Great rendition of mega!
ReplyDeleteit's probably just me, but i found light's comment about rock "being made for this", meaning fighting, a tiny bit weird. other than that, an interesting reimagining for sure
ReplyDeleteHmm... Rock and Light's designs are amazing, but the story is okay. I was expecting it to be at least a little longer, felt too western in my opinion. Like, the generic "oh, i now realize i was born for this" moment. It would've worked better if it was longer to help us care more for the characters. Plus the environment is a little too dark for it to be megaman, like it's trying to be too serious. Also really needed at least roll to be in this. I would've liked for it to be more like Megman 7 or 8's aesthetic, with a little more insight with Roll and Mega just being dr. Light's kids, helping him around the lab, a warmer feel to it instead of this generic epic/dark atmosphere.
