Unreleased, Unknown Rockman Figure Surfaces on Mercari

I don’t usually spotlight auctions on the ol’ blog, but this one’s too wild to ignore. A previously unseen, one-of-a-kind Rockman figure has surfaced on Mercari’s seller market—seemingly never released commercially, or perhaps intended for a future launch. The manufacturer is unknown, but the figure appears legitimate, featuring Rockman in his classic Rockman 1 title screen pose and bearing a Capcom copyright stamp on the bottom of the foot...

The seller, who has a high rating and appears to be reputable, lists it as a vinyl figure standing 25 cm tall (about 9.84 inches). No additional background or context is provided, but one thing is clear: this piece has never been available to the public. Whether it's from a cancelled product line or an early leak from an upcoming one remains a mystery. We can, however, rule out a garage kit. The presence of a copyright makes that unlikely, and no one in the tightly-knit Rockman garage kit community has been able to identify it—let alone claim it.

For collectors with deep pockets, the figure will set you back a cool $7,240 USD.

  1. Man, this just highlights to me how weird the Rockman 1 pose is from any angle besides head on. Hell, it’s weird head on too!

But still, a novel item. Well, not at *that* price, haha.

  3. Who'd be daft enough to pay 7.5k for what's basically a shampoo bottle cap.

Sure it's a '1 off, unproduced' but there's no story or intrigue behind it. No prototype markings. It could be something for a cheap product that's been stolen off a production line somewhere.

    1. Rockman shampoo, eh? Wonder what it would smell like.

    2. Citrus, naturally. Maybe a nice woody smell for Wood Man. And of course, Air Man hairdryer.

    3. Pine and cedar for Woodman. True oceanic (as opposed to clean aquatic) for Splashwoman. :B

  4. At least it’s they aren’t asking over $6800 for some fake poop like in another listing I saw…..
