Famed Mega Man Composer Scoring New Project, Target Acquired

Composing legend to the classic series Mega Man games, Manami Matsumae is back with an all new project. Having recently wrapped production on Shovel Knight, Matsumae is lending her talents to Target Acquired.

Read on for more details... and a chance to win a signed copy of Matsumae's score!

Target Acquire can be summed up as Mega Man meets Temple Run. Players take on the role of a Japanese Police Cat, armed to the teeth to combat injustice. She's in pursuit of an evil Cyborg Mouse out to conquer the world.  It's an action platformer sidescroller (with some 3rd person elements), but the player controlled avatar cannot stop its forward momentum. It's an increasingly popular concept, one that Target Acquired hopes to take advantage of for some high octane fun.

Target Acquired is being developed by TouchTen Games.  Based out of Jakarta, they've successfully produced over twenty titles with 10 million downloads. They've been named one of the "20 Rising Globabl Stars" by Forbes.

Though the game has already met its Kickstarter goal, there's still some time left to meet stretch goals. Backer rewards range from mini statues and t-shirts to a life-size replica of the protagonist's weapon. You can read up on all the details here. While you're at it, check out the sample of Matsumae's soundtrack. Speaking of which, how would you like to own a signed copy?

I have three copies of Target Acquired's soundtrack to give away with Matsumae's spiffy signature. This is going to be a very simple contest - simply post a valid e-mail in the comments below. That's it. I'll choose three random winners and contact you with the good news. Entries will be accepted until December 6th at 12 pm PST.

Of course, if you'd rather buy the CD you can; $100 standard or $150 for a signed copy. Limited to only 100 copies, no less.

You can learn more about Target Acquired at the project's Kickstarter page here.

  1. Wow, looks pretty cool! Shame the gameplay looks kinda boring, though. Who knows... Keeping the design inspiration alive is at least something!

    1. Xover didn't have platforming.

    2. Xover is more of a (boring) RPG CCG mix. Comparing it to other mobile games, I think it looks more like Bravoman: Binja Bash. And looks like it will be fun.

    3. It looks like what XOver SHOULD of been like. Faster pace. Platforming. Alternate forms of movement and weapons.

  17. You know, I have really mixed feelings about this.
On the one hand, it's Mega Man (X?) and not making any attempt to hide that fact.
On the other hand, it's also not trying to be Mega Man per se and the characters are super cute.

Nngh... what is with the sudden flux of Mega Man-alikes anyway? I blame Inafune.
