Capcom Game Boy Advance Games Confirmed For Wii U VC

The leaked OFLC ratings for Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue and White are indeed true. Speaking with IGN, a Capcom spokesperson has confirmed both versions for Wii U. What's more, it appears additional GBA games from Capcom are in the pipeline. Here's the quote:

"We are working on bringing this and other GBA titles to the North American Virtual Console," a Capcom spokesperson said. "We'll have more information about the lineup in the coming months. For Australia and Europe, we are still in discussions about the release of Virtual Console titles for those markets."

The company's GBA library is bursting with Mega Man games, as you'll recall. I've little doubt we won't see all twelve on Wii U eventually. Naturally, we'll keep an ear out for future updates.

Stay tuned!

  1. Sweet! I hope BN1 and 2 show up as well - I've never found a copy of 1 with a working battery, and 2 is my personal favorite.

  2. So essentially the Wii U is currently the Megaman machine of this console generation, with the 3DS in second? You know what, I'll take it. Makes me feel happy knowing he's on the consoles where he belongs.

    1. Meh. The PC is the REAL Mega Man machine, then, now, and forever.

    2. Are you saying that DOS Mega Man and DOS Mega Man III are the best Mega Man games ever?

    3. Lol, no. I'm saying you can play pretty much every single Mega Man game on PC through emulation.

But I'm sure you knew that and are just making a joke, but I wanted to clarify anyway. :P

    4. Great except you can't actually show support for the actual titles we want to happen. So no, it's not the real machine.

    5. Well, it would be the real machine if Capcom weren't a bunch of morons. They should put these up in Steam for $5 a pop, but noooo. Bunch of backward console kiddie simpleton fanboys grumble grumble...

    6. Besides the two DOS games, Capcom did release Mega Man X3, X7, X8, Legends and Legends 2 for PC, but most only in Japan.

Even through I have the original games, I prefer emulation over the real games due to being easier to handle (change carts/discs, cables, ...) their addition options, among other things. And only older games (many that are likely with dead batteries or broken by now, considering we were carefree and careless kids ;P) can be emulated anyway, so except for re-releases like this, it isn't bad for their business.

  3. Megaman and Bass would be great.
Though I don't imagine we'll be seeing that until all the lesser GBA Megaman games have been released, if at all.

  4. I just hope they have some means to connect the games...otherwise all of the Battle Network games will be impossible to 100%.

    1. Aren't you just missing out on secret chips? Or was there more in the first three BNs?

  5. I loved 3! I hope multiplayer is a thing, so I can finally experience that part of the game.

  6. 3 required linking to even 100% the solo part. Unlike 4-6 where you can "get everything" without the other version, 3 requires it and that's bad.

  7. Considering that they have more "information" about the line-up other than the release dates, I'm hopeful that they're including changes to the game and not just a direct port, even if it's incredibly unlikely.

  8. Probally would had been better to release to the 3ds, due to so many Mega Man fans preordering in excitement for Legends 3, Trollcom

    1. That would require Nintendo supporting a VC market for GBA games on the 3DS. And they aren't.

    2. Not really Capcom's decision. Nintendo decided to make the Wii U the console for Virtual Console GBA games instead of the 3DS, for whatever reason.

  9. Hopefully all the Zero games and MM and Bass make it through.

  10. I'd be fine with BN3 but I want BN1 and 2 also! I really want to replay BN2 but I don't want to delete my file, I worked too hard on it.
