Capcom Teases Rockman X "Ver.Ke" Model Kit (Updated)

It's been a long time since we had ourselves an official Rockman model kit. After Zero came out, it seemed uncertain what Kotobukiya would tackle next, if anything at all.

But now the answer has come to light. Capcom themselves are picking up where Kotobukiya left off. And that is, specifically, a radical reinterpretation of X himself.

Behold... Rockman X "Ver.Ke". Via Rockman Unity:

Designed by Mizuno Keisuke (artist for Mega Man Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X) this model is the first product to release under Capcom's new "C.C.C" label (Capcom Creators Collection). The C.C.C brand allows Capcom designers and artists to freely re-imagine designs of existing characters into figures and kits.

The official product details from Rockman Unity are really something, too:

  • Size: 4/1 scale
  • Material: Titanium-X
  • Price: 4.1 million Zenny
  • APIF model number: SHVC19931217RX
  • Release date: April 1st, 21XX
  • NOTE: special modeling kit nippers needed to penetrate Titanium-X. Basic welding and electrical skills are required.

You know, I think we can collective scrape together 4.1M Zenny by 21XX. We'll work out who gets the kit on what days later. I've got dibs on Saturdays, though.

....

Alright, alright, put your wallets down. This is a fun little joke from Capcom, Ucchy and the Rockman Unity crew. Perhaps. I'm not putting money on this, but there's been at least one Rockman Unity joke
that turned out to have some truth to it. For all we know, this C.C.C label is going to become a thing and Keisuke does have his hand in some amazing looking X model kit. It won't be made of Titanium-X, of course.

You can never be too sure what may happen. Only time will tell.

UPDATE: For one reason or another, Rockman Unity took down the joke. You can still see the cached version here.

UPDATE 2: Ucchy comments on the removal...

(fun fact: that APIF model number is a play on an official Super Famicom cartridge model number. SHVC=Super Home Video Computer; 19931217RX = 1993.12.17, Rockman X's original release date)

  1. Didn't know they liked the April Fools stuff over there.

As for the chance of it actually becoming real eventually, it's related to the X universe and isn't something forcing Zero down' our throats, so I have to remain skeptical.

  2. Capcom has no room to make jokes like this right now.

I want a new X game with that style.

  3. Don't you dare, April..... Don't play with my heart.... T_T

  4. Yeah, Capcom shouldn't be joking about MMX after leaving the series in a big unresolved cliffhanger with the Axl thing and scrapping the MHX remakes. At leas even if the artwork looks great, I don't fin this funny at all.

  5. O_O I want that! Screw April Fools! Make it happen! I would buy the shit out of that!

  6. I kind it more disturbing that they used Xover's Character pose for this...

  7. For a second I was thinking it was real...

  8. *Sees april fools on calendar and proceeds to check Rockman Corner's april fools joke*

    Expected.

  9. If this is indeed April Fools' Hur Hur MegaMan Just Kidding, I would have found this funny... if it wasn't for, you know, the last three freaking years of disappointments. Not really nice, Capcom. Release some games, then try to be funny. Until then, you're just a bunch of assholes in a dying company.

  10. I like how it says 4/1 scale, meaning that it'd be 4x the size of X if it actually existed

  11. won't lie to you... i REALLY liked the design.

would buy a model like this

    ReplyDelete
  12. I would buy it. that redesign is awesome.

the fact that it's an april fools joke almost feels like a bit of an insult. Capcom doesn't really have room to make megaman jokes considering the state of the franchise.

  13. Considering how these kits could be, it might be feasible... maybe. At the very least, I will not say no to 2 nice new pieces of artwork and the hard work from Ucchy's and the Rockman Unity crew.

  14. Let me just take a look at the schedule today and... Oh look! It's April 1st!

  15. holy god. that is the best x redesign i've ever seen. i would buy that in an instant.
"Ver. Ke" seems to be a reference to Bandai's "Ver. Ka" line of articulated figures of mecha designed by Hajime Katoki. Those ones aren't model kits though, they come fully built, though in a smaller scale.

    1. I was hoping I wasn't the only one who noticed that! Its nearly identical to his re-designs of Gundam models- down to the exposed glowing parts, opening panels to reveal thrusters, and even the all-white boxart!

    2. I'm pretty sure there are Ver. Ka Master Grades

      Delete
    3. The Ver. Ka line are model kits though, and yes they're all master grades, so 1/100 scale. Also the Ver. Ka line is famous for its extremely large amount of decals.

      Delete
    4. they absolutely are model kits, MG size 1/100

  16. I wish it was real. That's a mean joke. Well, at least Capcom didn't joke about a new game, but joke or not, I doubt we will see one soon...

  17. LOL! CAPCOM?! LOL! GOOD ONE! YEAH! IT IS A JOKE! THE JOKE IS THAT CAPCOM CAN'T DO SOMETHING THIS AMAZING! LOL! LOL! LOL!
On a serious note, really cool design! I really like the helmet/head design. I'd rather see this be made into a D-Arts or S.H. or whatever it is since they merged and stuff, I'd rather see this instead of Zero AGAIN! I know it would be another X, but this is different, never done before, this I would buy. Or even as a model kit. This would of been a buy for me.

  18. i'd still pay 4.1 million zenny for this

  19. April First.... Because mocking your sore fanbase has worked SO well in the past, hasn't it, Capcom?

IF this is a thing that is going to be real, I must say, I really like the overall design, though I'm not a fan of the ankle jets. Coming from the foot makes more sense, seeing as how that's already how they jump.

    ReplyDelete
  20. That's how X would look if he appeared in Super Smash Bros.! ;P

    ReplyDelete
  21. I confess I believed it for a second.
Still, that design is pretty damn sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  22. So not cool, Capcom. SO not cool. You basically scrap Megaman, then you throw these at us and then go "HURR DURR APRIL FOOOLS". When you finally resolve what happened to Axl, finish the MHX line, and make Legends 3, then you can freely pull those kinds of jokes.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It needs a splash of Command Mission X.

  24. Rockman Unity deleted the post, just to let you know.

    2. In Japan most companies will delete April Fool's day pranks when it is no long April Fool's day to avoid unnecessary confusion about legitimacy.

  25. If only this were true...

  26. What happened to that other Megaman X Model? The one we saw a mock up of in some convention like some months ago.

    ReplyDelete
  27. SONIC! X! MEGA! MAN! PLEASE!

    ReplyDelete
  28. FYI - the original article was probably removed because it's no longer April 1 in Japan.

    1. There's no reason to remove it, just say "haha april fools!" or something

  29. Lol. I love this though. Lighten up. I know Capcom has been pretty cruel to the MM fandom as of late (and several other fandoms), but it's just an April Fools.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. thats why it's cruel.

The joke is literally "hey look at this cool thing! SURPRISE! ITS ACTUALLY FAKE! HAHA"

      Delete
    2. Except it's April Fools. Which means people are not supposed to be taking it seriously.

If they were teasing this on any other day, then yeah, I'd be bothered. But I'm not at all, because it's the April 1st.

      Delete
    3. Well either way the "joke" is pretty bad. In that I'm not sure how it's supposed to be funny.

Also, Capcom has a lot of IPs. Of all the ones to make a joke about on April Fools day, did they really look at Mega Man and say this is a good idea?

      Delete
    4. Except considering every other decent thing relating to Megaman has been canceled, at this point it's a rather sore wound that they're rubbing salt into.

Just like BBA Megaman from the crossover fighter. Any other time, it would have been funny, but on the cusp of EVERYTHING that's happened....

  30. Coming from Capcom is not a legit joke but a another slap in the face to the Mega man/Rockman fanbase. Four years of torture.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I hate to be a whiner, but these are the kinds of April Fool's jokes I dislike. The ones where they make something awesome that I know I'll probably never get.

They should have done something ridiculous like announce multiple new figures of characters people don't really like, like Axl, Dynamo, Auto, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  32. if this was real, i'd buy it.

but yeah, doing something like this for fool's day, way to put more salt on the wound.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "For some reason or other...."

Maybe they finally grew a collective brain and realized how cruel and tactless this was?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I tend not to get too angry at Capcom with how they're treating Mega Man, but this proves they aren't incapable of knowing what we would find cool. They're just not giving it to us.

    Dammit.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I hate that people are taking this opportunity to crap on disappointed fans. The fans are being insulted over and over, and annoyance with every new injury is treated as proof that the fanbase can't be happy.

As though repeatedly being disappointed somehow makes you more likely to find at least one thing acceptable. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hah, they cancelled the April Fools joke.

  37. Megaman's so irrelevant they even cancelled his April Fool's joke. How sad.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anybody else realize that it's marked as 4/1 scale and only 5' 3" tall? X would be AWFULLY short if he existed... (about 1' 4" tall) That made me laugh a little.

  39. Have Tamashii make that into a Metal Build figure...

  40. On the McLeodGaming Website, There was an April Fool's Joke involving Mr. Incredible!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Not so much an April Fools gag as it is a taunt towards MM fans.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wow. That was not funny.

If Capcom had used any other franchise, fine, but this is just seems malicious.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh hey, Capcom's trolling the Mega Man fans again. Haven't they done that enough for the last three years? They obviously know that we're desperate for a new Mega Man game after they canceled everything and refused to do anything during the anniversary, but they'd rather spend their time teasing us when they're not whoring out Street Fighter yet again.

    ReplyDelete
  44. That actually looks pretty cool. It'd be nice if they decided to actually use that design later on, rather than just try to prank everyone with it.

    ReplyDelete
  45. please stop doing this to your loyal rockman fans. im one of them and i really dont like what you all at capcom are doing. i know that the creator left capcom and that you guys cant make a megaman game without his input but still please dont let megaman die like this......its not fair to any of us. if u want i can write the new megaman story.i already have it here. its called ロックマンX。私の穏やかな再生。 (Rockman X.......My Gentle Rebirth)
