"Turbo Mode" Added to Mega Man Mobile - Games Run Super Fast!

A third game speed has been added to Mega Man Mobile 1-6: Turbo Mode. As the name implies it turns the speed up to eleven. But is that a good thing?

Turbo Mode might be a little too fast. Gameplay starts at 2:15...

Yeah, it's not great. If anything, it makes the games even more unplayable. Oy.

The update is now available on iOS and Android in all regions.

  1. I had heard that recent updates have helped with the lagginess issues. Can anyone who actually bought one of these games verify this?

    1. Nope. It's the same. I'm convinced the lag has nothing to do with a technicality but the nature of the ports - they're not the NES games.

I read a comment in an Ars Technica news article that said that the "new" mobile games are actually based on the old, poorly-coded BREW remakes that were released for feature phones in the mid-2000s. (Article link below. Comment author source is not confirmed AFAIK, but I would believe that at least some of the info is true given how the games look/play.) So the reason that the recent releases play so poorly is supposedly because they are ports (or ports of ports?) of bad remakes. I think that Capcom would have more wisely spent their money if they would have paid Digital Eclipse to directly port their Legacy Collection engine to modern mobile platforms. I mean, at the end of the day the Legacy Collection engine is just an emulator, so it shouldn't have been that hard to port. At the very least, porting Legacy Collection should have (in theory) been no more difficult than resurrecting and porting old BREW code.

  2. Why... why...?! High Speed is just fine! Why is there a Turbo Mode?!

    Words fail me.

    1. "20 fps" "Just fine"

One of these things is not like the other

    2. I stand by what I said in that 20 FPS is generally just fine for gameplay and viewing purposes. Is it ideal? No. But as someone who uses the "every third frame" way of encoding to bypass YouTube's 30 FPS hard limit for non-HD videos, I can honestly say that it's just fine.

Don't get me wrong, though. These are still half-assed ports of awful remakes.

  3. Wow, the gameplay of a nub getting wrecked by fleas sure does make me want to play this port.

  5. Tried it this morning. It's too fast. It is what it is. I bought MM 6 just to try it and it's definitely something I won't play much as it's just too "off" from the original version. Oh well.
