Mega Man: Dual Override Tokyo Game Show Stage Event Confirmed

Capcom has announced a special Mega Man: Dual Override stage event for September 21 at Tokyo Game Show, featuring a live gameplay session and members of the development team.

The 50-minute presentation will begin at 10:30 AM JST, or 8:30 PM CST on September 20, and will feature guest Akari Nibu (“Nibuchan”) trying the game for the first time. She will be joined by Mega Man series producer Shingo Izumi, Dual Override producer Hiroyuki Minamitani, and Rockman Unity’s very own Ucchy-san.

As is typical of these stage events, we can expect the latest news and updates on the game, though exactly what will be shown is anyone’s guess. As previously reported, Dual Override will also have a playable demo on the show floor, once again featuring Twinkle Girl’s stage. It’s currently unknown whether the demo have Mega Man, Proto Man, or both playable.

Mega Man: Dual Override Achievements Leaked (Beware Spoilers)

Something appears to be amiss on Steam's backend, with achievements for several unreleased and even unannounced games surfacing on Exophase, a site that tracks Steam achievements. Among them is the complete achievement list for Mega Man: Dual Override, despite the game still being a long way from release.

I won't post the achievements directly here, as they spoil the names of the Robot Masters and other features that have not yet been announced by Capcom. If you want to go into Dual Override completely blind, or simply wait for Capcom to reveal these details on its own terms, be advised that the spoilers are now out there. Major spoiler warning.

Junko Karashima Confirmed as Mega Man: Dual Override Sound Director

In a new interview with Nintendo Everything, members of the development team confirmed that Junko Karashima is serving as sound director, seemingly taking over the role from Mega Man 11 sound director Ryo Oshii. Karashima has a lengthy list of credits spanning numerous Dance Dance Revolution and beatmania titles, and more recently directed and composed music for Mega Man X DiVE.

When asked who is composing the music for Dual Override, the team did not reveal any individual composers just yet, but they did speak about Karashima’s role and the expectations surrounding the soundtrack:

"What we can say at this point is the sound director of Mega Man: Dual Override is Junko Karashima. She is someone who respects the music of all the other past Mega Man games and understands that there are high expectations and how important music is for a game like Mega Man: Dual Override. The goal is to maintain the things that remain important in a Mega Man game we’re hoping people are really excited for the music in Mega Man: Dual Override."

Nintendo Everything’s full interview with the development team covers several other topics about the game, so be sure to give the full piece a read!

Mega Man: Dual Override Confirmed for Tokyo Game Show 2026

Capcom has announced its Tokyo Game Show 2026 lineup and, sure enough, Mega Man: Dual Override is among the games making an appearance.

While Capcom has not confirmed whether Dual Override will have another publicly playable demo at the show, the game will be featured during a 40-minute Capcom Spotlight presentation on September 16 at 7:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 p.m. BST.

Capcom hasn't revealed exactly what we'll see during the presentation, but hopes are naturally running high for our first look at Proto Man gameplay, and perhaps even the winner of the Robot Master Boss Design Contest.

In addition to the game's appearance at the show, Capcom will be selling a handful of Dual Override merchandise. Most of the lineup was previously revealed, including the Override System hoodie, and tote bags, but there's one notable new addition: a Proto Man version of the "Sound PITA KEY." The NFC-enabled keychain can be scanned with a compatible device to unlock an AR-style Proto Man image for photos, along with music and sound effects from Dual Override.

We'll be keeping a close eye on everything coming out of Tokyo Game Show, so stay tuned!

Twinkle Girl Was the First Robot Master Created for Mega Man: Dual Override

Shingo Izumi Says Capcom Would ‘Definitely Love’ to Revisit Mega Man X

Game Informer has published a new interview with Mega Man producer Shingo Izumi and Dual Override producer Hiroyuki Minamitani, and tucked away near the end is a small but encouraging comment about the future of the Mega Man X series

When asked whether he would be open to revisiting the series, Shingo Izumi said, "From my perspective, yes, that is something we would definitely love to visit."

"Mega Man X is an important series within the Mega Man brand," he continued. "We definitely value that series, and if there is a chance, we would always love to consider that."

It's not confirmation that a new Mega Man X title is in development, of course. But with Mega Man X8 still standing as the last new mainline entry more than 20 years later, it's certainly nice to hear the current series producer say the series is still valued and something Capcom would like to revisit.

Capcom Explains Why Dual Override Isn’t Called “Mega Man 12,” What Took So Long and More

During a livestream with Capcom Germany, Mega Man: Dual Override director Shinya Ikuta and producer Hiroyuki Minamitani sat down to answer some of fans' biggest questions about the game, including a few that have been on our minds since the game was first revealed.

Shinya Ikuta Confirmed as Mega Man: Dual Override Director

The development team behind Mega Man: Dual Override continues to come into focus. During Xbox's Gamescom Day One broadcast, it was revealed that Shinya Ikuta is serving as the game's director. He appeared alongside Hiroyuki Minamitani, who was previously confirmed as the game's producer back in March.

Ikuta is a longtime Capcom developer and programmer whose history with the company stretches back to the early 1990s. He's no stranger to Mega Man, either. He worked as a programmer on Mega Man 7, Mega Man: Battle & Chase, Mega Man Battle Network 4, Rockman EXE 4.5 and Mega Man Battle Network 5, and also received a Special Thanks credit on Mega Man Zero 3.

Outside of Mega Man, Ikuta has had a hand in a pretty sizable chunk of Capcom's catalog over the years, including Onimusha, Dead Rising and Devil May Cry 4. His more recent credits include work on Monster Hunter Wilds.

Dual Override appears to be Ikuta's first time in the director's chair, but there's at least some reassurance in knowing he's not coming into Mega Man completely cold.

Capcom Updates Mega Man: Dual Override Site with More Details

Capcom has updated the official Mega Man: Dual Override website with some new details, screenshots and art. Among the updates are a few hints about Proto Man's playstyle, a glimpse of Mega Man in his casual attire, and some preliminary details on the new Custom Chip System.

Mega Man: Dual Override Screenshots - Mega Man vs. Astro Man R

On the heels of today's brand-new trailer, Capcom has released a pair of new screenshots from Mega Man: Dual Override that clue us in on a few interesting details.

First, here's a little more insight into the game's new Override System:

"Unleash power beyond your limits with Override, a new system that temporarily removes a robot's limiter to unlock extraordinary power! However, once Override ends, the strain causes a temporary drop in various abilities, so use it wisely!"

The screenshots give us a clearer look at the updated player HUD. Alongside Mega Man's HP gauge, we can see an icon indicating that he's entered the Override state, his currently equipped weapon, the Mega Buster, and his equipped Override chip, represented here by the shield icon.

Perhaps more interestingly, Mega Man is once again facing Astro Man... or rather, "Astro Man R". The "R" designation appears to be given to Robot Masters that have returned or been revived, with Astro Man's DWN number even updated to reflect his new status. This could very well mean that we'll be seeing even more legacy Robot Masters in the game.

More updates soon!

New Mega Man: Dual Override Trailer (Twinkle Girl, Proto Man and More)

Capcom has released a brand-new trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override at Gamescom 2026. The trailer showcases several new stages and features, including our first look at an all-new Robot Master, Twinkle Girl, and the return of... Astro Man?

Other highlights include Proto Man, sporting an all-new look, and a new gameplay mechanic called Custom Chips. According to Capcom, these chips can be used to "modify Mega Man's abilities and tap into overwhelming power through the new Override System."

We also have a brief story synopsis:

"Robots are running rampant at the Robot exhibition in Dr. Light's absence, and it's up to Mega Man and Proto Man to rise to the challenge to restore peace to the city. Override your limits and uncover the truth behind the incident!"

To top things off, Capcom also confirmed that a new Mega Man-themed skin pack is coming to Pragmata later this year. The costume was originally teased as an April Fool’s joke earlier this year.

We'll have more news and footage of Dual Override all this week. Stay tuned!

Mega Man and Roll Costumes Revealed for Pragmata

Capcom has announced that a set of Mega Man and Roll skins are coming to Pragmata later this year.

The Mega Man costume was first teased earlier this year as an April Fool’s joke, making its actual release a fun payoff to the gag. It also feels like a playful nod to the long-running speculation that Pragmata might somehow be connected to our favorite blue robot.

You can get a look at both skin designs above. More updates soon!

Mega Man Fortnite Collaboration Teased Ahead of Chapter 7 Season 4

If there was any doubt that Mega Man is coming to Fortnite, it’s quickly disappearing as the game has begun to tease the Blue Bomber ahead next season.

A giant cartridge has appeared in-game featuring artwork that cycles between several gaming franchises every few seconds, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac-Man, Tetris and Mega Man.

Mega Man and Rush also appeared in a recently leaked, unfinished piece of key art for the upcoming season. Although the image was initially dismissed by some as fake or AI-generated, the released Sonic x Fortnite tie in-comic features designs that closely match those seen in the leaked key art, giving it considerably more credibility.

Epic Games has yet to formally announce the Mega Man collaboration, but at this point, the writing is on the wall. Or cartridge. More details to come soon!
