Rockman 20XX Has Been Successfully Preserved, Playable via FlashPoint

Rockman 20XX: Tatakae! Team Shachi!, the officially-licensed browser game by Capcom and Team Shachi, ended service on August 31st. However, I'm pleased to announce that the game has been fully preserved on Flashpoint, an open-source platform dedicated to archiving Flash games.

This preservation effort was carried out by Flashpoint archivist ThePowerPlayer, who played through the game multiple times to ensure the successful extraction of every asset, including those wacky cutscenes. If you have no earthly idea what I'm talking, give this a watch.

To experience Rockman 20XX once more (or maybe for the first time), download the latest version of the Flashpoint Infinity installer here. A Windows-based system is recommended, although limited support for Mac and Linux is available.  If you run into any issues or glitches, drop a comment. I'll pass it up to the chain!

Many thanks again to ThePowerPlayer for seeing this one through!

  3. This is fantastic news! Thanks, ThePowerPlayer! Now, let's hope Team Shachi doesn't sue you into the ground for copyright infringement over their song. (Even though this was a free game.)

  4. This game is proof that girls can be heroes! I'll probably skip out on playing cuz I'll suck at it. Also, seeing Rock being old is just sad...

    1. Why would that need proving? Girls have been being heroes in games since at least back in the original Metroid on the NES. It's not like it's anything unusual or groundbreaking.

    2. And even way back, even in board games.

    1. I noticed the same thing. My assumption is maybe they got a takedown request, but it seems the game is still listed in their games database. I would try downloading the massive 1TB+ package and see, but I notice this includes a lot of animations too, not just games. Not sure it's worth blowing my data cap just to see if it's there.

If anyone else has any other observations, please post. Would love to try this game out.

    2. Update: I updated the metadata and was able to find the game listed for download now. Give that a try if you encounter problems. It seems maybe an initial install doesn't necessarily have the most up to date metadata.

  6. I actually preserved it too, a couple days before the shutdown (albeit, the game over screen on mine isn't working. On the plus side, I managed to grab the source maps and could add new graphics and levels one day).

  9. What a stupid game. Why do people praise fan garbage like this?

    1. This is not a fan game. This is an officially licensed product.
