Kotobukiya News Roundup - Rockman 11 Ver. Release Date, New X Series Model Kits and More!

Hot on the heels of the recently released Blade Armor X kit, Kotobukiya is back with news of upcoming Rockman model kits with their Rockman Plastic Model Talk Live. Hosted by Kotobukiya's Rockman X model kit planner Bachi (Shohei Chiba) and Ryōtarō Okiayuthe voice actor for Zero and Proto Man, this hour-long broadcast showed not only the release details for Rockman 11 Ver. Rockman, but several reveals!

Find all the info after the break!

Before showing anything new, the latest release, X's Blade Armor, was re-introduced. Someone on the team got to flex their creative muscles here because they used their sense and skill to create a neat combination of the Blade and Third Armors

The show kicked off with the re-reveal of the Second Armor Double Charge Shot Ver. This was our first look at the kit in-hand, and I have to say, the effects look amazing, even with no paint; the two colors used for the included Shoryuken effect really pops. As for the Double Charge Shot itself, it looks really good! We get to see that the swirling energy on the pink shot can be easily moved for a bit more variety.

At long last after its initial reveal, we get to see a colored Rockman 11 Ver. Rockman, and he looks fantastic. The scale for this seems to be 1/10 like the older Classic series kits. The color of the blue plastics are really nice and help the figure pop. Special attention was shown to the chest and wrist articulation. We also got a release date for this guy; he's coming out October 2023. Rock will come with a head without his helmet as well as a charge shot effect.

We got another look at Axl, now in a more completed state. The last time we saw him, he seemed to be a mock-up statue, but today, we got to see what a fully posable Axl looks like, and it doesn't disappoint. At long last, we can complete the Maverick Hunter trio!

Next we got what is likely the biggest announcement of the presentation: X's Falcon Armor from Rockman X5 and Rockman X6. With this kit, we will have representation of the first 6 X series games, and that is fantastic. During the show, we get to see the Armors all lined up, and they look great together. As the hosts were reading the live chat, we got a verbal mention of the Gaea, Shadow, and Glide Armors, so be sure to make your voices heard with what you want to see next from the line!

The most unexpected announcement of the show came next with the reveal of the Third Armor Triad Thunder Ver. I certainly didn't expect another recolor for the Third Armor before a recolor for the First Armor, but this is still a welcome addition. There was no word whether or not we would be seeing a base X in the Triad Thunder colors, but time will tell. We get a brief look at the Triad Thunder effect piece, and it is huge! This one will definitely help your shelf to pop.

This next one has been a long time coming, we finally get a reveal for Black Zero! While we did not get a look at the actual kit, we did get to see what he may be coming with. Black Zero will include a Rakuhoha effect piece, as well as a separate neck and abdomen piece for Zero to hit more dynamic poses (the new pieces are shown blue for demonstration purposes). It was also stated that this kit will come with optional parts to create Fake Zero from Rockman X2! It is currently unclear whether or not it will just be an optional forehead gem or all of the silver parts.

While there was no word on the previously announced Roll.EXE, we got plenty to savor. As stated by Kotobukiya themselves, with all the main armors from X1-X6 out, there are still plenty of characters and armors they still want to do, so let's keep cheering them on!

It seems that the reveals may not be finished quite yet. A splash page at the end of the presentation urged the audience to stay tuned for more details for the 30th Rockman X anniversary as well as the 5th anniversary of the Kotobukiya Rockman X line.

So, what was your favorite reveal? What else do you want to see from the line? Sound off and let it be known!

  1. Quite pleased. They nailed Axl, as I hoped they would, with twin guns and alternate wings. The Black Zero was predictable but I would like one. The MM11 Rock I am getting for sure. Falcon Armor is a for sure.
Its only a matter of time before Alia is made.

    1. I’m planning on getting Axl, Black Zero, MM11 (I like this figure better than the actual artwork since it looks more traditional Mega Man), and maybe Falcon as well. If they release an Iris figure it’ll be the happiest day of my life.

  2. Definitely getting Axl and Black Zero.
I really want the Falcon armor as well, but I don't think I'll be able to afford take 3 kit in a while.
Also need to save up for Roll.exe

  3. Amazing news!

Falcon Armor is exactly what I wanted. Can’t believe I have all 6 main armors from the 2D era in figure format. I thought this would never happen after Bandai dropped the D-Arts line.

Here’s hoping we eventually see Gaea, Shadow and Glide. Don’t really care for Neutral, Icarus and Hermes.

  4. Keep them coming. The only one I don't have is Dark Mega Man.EXE. I am ready for these.

  5. Waow! Finally the 6 X armors in beautifull set!
I'm very exited by the Blade armor and the Falcon which looks amazing. The X2 charge shot set seems really great, in particular the double charge shot just incredible. The colors looks cool too.
Rockman 11 is awesome and for sure I'll buy it with Axl.
Can't wait for the Glide Armor.

  7. Mmmm those that were bad mouthing Koto must not like the X series because oh my gawd take my ZENNY! 😍 No ones given us more than Koto has. sentinel and Bandai have been zzzz for ages so I have WAY more appreciation for Koto especially because I do more with the models than just simply assembling them. 😄 They are great for custom projects and the only way to have issues is “user error”. Or not liking how they are made I guess but I find 0 problems personally but I’m not really expecting Koto to follow other companies lead as that’s not how business works while there may be small tweaks for efficiency those go out the window when the parts leave the tray. 😅 I care about my presentation not theirs I make the magic happen not them. 🤣👍

    1. Custom build that user error that is Zero's hair out of existence...
One of these days I'm gonna 3D print an alternative... If I ever get motivated enough to learn how to do hair.

    2. I hope you're able to do it, Shrap. I tried 3D Printing a Zero figurine on some site like shapeways and the printer kind of got stuck in some loop trying to build a ladder to where his hair would be.

    3. I tried a few months ago, but I didn't like the way it was turning out and lost motivation so stopped. Bit this is what it looks like. Maybe some day...

  8. They look great, but you'll forgive me if I'm not over the moon for the billionth releases of the same old characters.

  9. Finally!! The long awaited falcon!! This is quite exciting!! Indeed let's hope they keep up the momentum for at least the gaea and shadow!

  10. Maybe someday I'll get the whole X1-X6 armor set, but right now I'm not inclined to be a collector like I used to be when the Bandaid model kits were new.

  11. MM11 model looks amazing. So so good. Axl is cool too, though I'm not as fond of him as I am of other characters. Still hoping we eventually get Vile and Sigma, and maybe some of the maverick bosses as well.

  12. Seeing Axl is pretty refreshing, but man do I wish they'd branch out of just the main characters and do some Maverick bosses for a change. Imagine a Magma Dragoon model, or even a cute Chill Penguin design! The boss designs were always so sick, you can't tell me they wouldn't sell.

  13. I'm definitely getting everything. as much as I dislike triad thunder and X3, I'll get that one too.... probably

  14. I hope they make the ultimate armor after the remaining x5-6 armors and stop making x variations i don't care about the other armors after that and i don't care about Weapons color variations. I want other characters like, vile, sigma, the x-hunters, bit and byte, Doppler( with softgood lab coat), iris, colonel, double, dynamo, alia, Signals,Douglas, Medic, Layer, palette, gate, High max, red, lumine and Mavericks like storm eagle and then i would be satisfied , but i would also like all the characters of command mission

    1. They should make Mavericks with their attacks and color pieces for the x armors

      Delete
    2. That would murder the line line. Just paint em.
They could just as easily release one kit that is nothing but weapon parts. A sub tank. Storm Tornado. Boomerang Cutter. Etc. They do that all the time for other lines

    3. The more I think about, the more I really want extra part runs. For like $20 they could sell 2nd armor buster with clear or colored gems, a 4th armor Buster (Black and White) with clear or colored gems, a Blade Armor buster set to prevent the need from changing them. They could sell all the collectible parts like Heart Tanks. They could sell Zero's and Axl's weapons.

      OR

KotoUS could allow US customers to order spare runners! That would be great. Then I could get a set of black buster parts for my regular 4th armor without kit bashing.

    4. I always hated that the US branch of Koto doesn't let you order extras if you break a piece. I have a Koto Proto who I messed up on the feet with and they're basically like "You're SOL sorry."

    5. Whats wrong with the foot?
I had to 3d print new ankles for Nightmare Zero. Anything you can part swap to make work?

      Delete
    6. I don't have good fine motor skills, so I damaged the joint when trying to put it together.

      Delete
    7. I think I partially broke the joint when separating it from one of the sprues. it was a long time ago so I don't remember.

      Delete
    8. If its hidden, could always print a replacement. Not sure which joint we are talking about. And even still, a print could be made to work, polished right they can blend in.

I got lucky. When I bought Zero all them years ago, I broke the shoulder and was able to get a replacement. Not sure how.

I have an RG 00 Gundam I lost a part to the sands of the carpet. Or it broke. Dont remember. Just printed a replacement. Can hardly tell.

      Delete
    9. Yeah it's hidden. It's a piece inside of the foot that attaches to the leg. I could probably purchase a replacement off of some 3d printing site since I don't have a 3D printer myself, and the public libraries here don't have them, either.

It's not a humongous deal - it just makes the foot slightly loose when handling it, but it's not gonna fall off or anything like that.

  15. I will be in Japan October 1'st and 2nd, fingers crossed they release the 1st of the month but I feel like thats very unlikely.
