The model kit is due in September for 9,460 Yen (Approximately $70 or 63€). Buying it at full price directly through Kotobukiya Japan will net you a "6 cm Dot Acrylic Stand", alternatively you can buy it through AmiAmi and get an "Acrylic Character Plate (A5 size)".

You can pre-order it from HobbyLinkJapan via our affiliate link for $65 or 59€.

  1. Price ain't terrible. Not sure I am gonna get it though. I usually display my stuff just in standard standing pose. With the little room I have in the display case, I can get more models in there. The effects parts are wasted.
Hoping we get a release date for 11 Rock soon. I wonder if it's going to be re-scaled to match X or to match the original releases? It uses the newer design mechanics in the prototype.

    1. For as much as I don't love these kits: I am also really looking forward to the MM11 kit. The original 4 Kotobukiya kits (Rock, Roll, Blues, Zero) were excellent ... and priced reasonably. In fact, those are still my favorite renditions of those characters in figure format, except for Rockman himself because he's got D-Arts and Sentinel versions.

  2. So weird that I just finished building this kit literally yesterday. I wonder if the "pearl coating" going to flake off like the "premium charge shot" kit.

I still think these kits are a ripoff. Why can I buy a fully-completed, partially-die-cast, exquisitely-painted figure with an LED light-up buster, blast effects, and a stand (TruForce at BBTS) for $80, but I have to put this together myself for basically the same price, and it's not nearly as sturdy or nice? Yeah, I get that model kits require (or allow) for extra effort, but the model kit bar is pretty high at the $70 price-point.

The right foot keeps falling off several of my Kotobukiya kits. Polycaps are lazy joint design for cheap model kits. Glue those biceps to that elbow joint, or it's going to keep sliding off! Why don't the leg armor parts fasten in the back on this kit? There's just nothing holding all those parts together, and they're so gappy! Why are the shorts pre-painted, and the box claims it's 100% color accurate, but they can't paint the tiny yellow spot on the BACK part of the shorts at the same time? Why does Kotobukiya use under-gating in the dumbest possible places, like for joints hidden inside the foot, but not where it's needed, like the blue trim at the knees? Why can't we get a clear green buster lens, or clear green options for the shoulders?

Mega Man X is such a great character design, so these look good when completed, but the engineering and layout of every Koto kit I have built (6) to-date is frustrating, and downright stupid in some places. Kotobukiya's attention-to-detail is lacking, and their prices are ridiculous. I'm done with these.

    1. Valid arguments with one exception: The shoulder parts on this kit aren't translucent because the design wasn't. It's always been solid green. I wish the parts on the back were at least molded with a green insert, having to paint those kinda sucked.

    2. That little downwards-pointing triangle, too; right underneath that piece is red plastic, so they could have just made it color accurate with a cutout in the black part where the red plastic comes through from underneath. Yeah, how hard would it have been to make a piece with green circles plug into the back of those black shoulder bits?

I dunno, I think it would have been nice to have options for the green parts, like with the Third (Hyper) Armor where we got both opaque and transparent options for the v-fin tips and gem. I think those should bits would have looked sweet as clear green with some foil tape underneath.

I suspect Kotobukiya doesn't lay-out their own runners and lets the factory do it for them.

  3. Bruh, I literally just bought and built the normal version last week.

  4. Looks cool, though I already have premium X, hyper chip X, and I’m planning on getting the standard force armor X. After that I don’t see any purpose in getting yet another X. If Koto plans to just keep on releasing new X armors instead of different characters I don’t think it’s a good decision.

  5. I'll keep buying these Koto models because where else you going to get the MegaMan X series of armors? No where else. You could get the armor series but they suck compared lol. Keep pushing em out koto unlike Crapcom I support your HEALTHY output. 😁👍 I've got over 20 of these as Normal X and all are customs from each X game I'm not even done yet and I'm doing all alternate armor power colors for each. These are easy to put together and I've never had problems its probably dependent on how many models you have worked with cause I'm have 0 issues. 🙃

    1. Bad design is bad design. I've built tons of Gundams from multiple grades, and not only are most of them half the price of these, but they are expertly engineered, thoughtfully layed-out on the runner, and are actually color-accurate. Leg armor on this kit doesn't fasten in the back, and that's dumb. Polycaps are lazy. The normal X kit is great though; I also had "0 issues" with that kit, but it's the only one.

    2. I think blade armor is a big step up

    3. If the color of the kit is an issue you can just fix it with some paints to your desired specifications. 🙂 If the parts don’t connect the way you desire you can shave or sand them even seal them should you feel the need. 👌 I like taking more time on models it’s more time spent for my buck 💵 similar to how people enjoy 100% rpgs/jrpgs. Gundam models are cheaper because the franchise has done way better than MegaMan especially in the east but on the other hand crapcom has been ripping people off for ages so the price is honestly to be expected and if you believe the quality to be super low id say that’s a testament to crapcoms modern practices. 🙂 Bad companies are bad companies but that never stopped everyone from buying Classic and X collection for PS2 Xbox GameCube and twice more later for PS4 Switch etc later on instead of new games. 😋 I’ve come to expect lesser quality from crapcom it’s no surprise people feel that way about their products I just wish people would pick up that attitude for the game because we can at Least fix the models should you feel they are bad but we can’t with the games. 😋 The fan base just can’t say No. 🤷‍♂️ I’ll pay the extra for Koto because again it puts the end result of the model in my hands unlike their repetitive ports. 😅
