Mega Man: The Power Battle & Power Fighters Confirmed for Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium

No less than a day after data started popping up on the Microsoft Store, Capcom officially announced Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium. The collection boasts 32 classic arcade games including Mega Man: The Power Battle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters.

Much like the previous collection, Arcade 2nd Stadium games feature online leader boards, a variety of display and filter settings, a rewind feature and the option to turn on invincibility. Games can be purchased individually for $3.99 or $39.99 for all 32.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium is slated to debut worldwide on July 22nd for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC/Steam.

  1. I'll probably buy the two titles, but not much else in that set.

    1. That's also a possibility for me, although I'm snagging them on PS4 since they were also emulated and released for that American-exclusive Mega Man Anniversary Collection back in 2004, except both games lack a vs. mode, let alone a survival mode (which were in that Japanese Rockman Battle and Fighters Collection on both PS2 and PS3 download).

  2. Now if we could just get a working/official version of Battle & Chase for modern consoles and PC I'd be able to play all the Rockman games I've liked from the past!

I'm super happy to be able to play these on my current console, and will gladly pay $8 for them both.

    1. Capcom needs to make more racing games after Battle and Chase came out (except in North America back then around 1997).

    2. I want a remaster of battle & chase. update the graphics a bit, add more mega man characters, give us online play and 4 player multiplayer.

    3. The reason CAPCOM (and many other devs) didn't continue with character racing games in the late 90's and early 00's is because competing with Mario Kart seemed foolish. (After Double Dash would have been a great time though.)

I would love a remaster/remake also, but I think the problem with the character racing genre is that nobody wants to compete with Mario Kart. (Nintendo kind of perfected it, as it sells consoles on its own.) The Sonic Racing games are actually pretty good, but any character racing game not on Nintendo is going to have to compete with that, and nobody buys a console specifically to play Sonic Racing. There are so many forgettable, half-baked games in the genre, and they all just come across as lesser clones of Mario Kart with different (forgettable) settings and faces. I don't think CAPCOM is willing to put the effort into something -- even a remaster -- which would just be forgotten and overshadowed. The relative success of MM11 suggests that CAPCOM at least needs proof that a NEW audience is going to show interest, and not just pre-existing fans.

Maybe to start we could get DLC for Sonic Racing, like a Rock and Roll with Blues and Forte pack.

  3. Alright everybody, you're getting Eric all hyped, let's calm down before we get people asking for Mega Man X sequels or something involving Capcom working on something crazy like new Mega Man game.
