"Capcom Retro Station" Trailer (Feat. Mega Man & Bass, Power Battle/Fighters, Soccer, MMX)

With the Capcom Retro Station due to hit Japan at the end of the month, it's only fitting that manufacturer TRON published the above trailer. It's our best look yet at this officially-licensed, arcade-style micro console.

As previously reported, the Retro Station includes ten pre-installed Mega Man and Street Fighter games. The five Mega Man titles are Mega Man: The Power Battle, Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, Mega Man X, Mega Man Soccer and Rockman & Forte. With the exception of Rockman & Forte, every Mega Man game listed is fully playable in English. Rockman & Forte will be the original, untranslated Super Famicom version.

The Retro Station is due in Japan in March 31st for 21,780 Yen. That's roughly $210 US. Pre-orders are currently available through Amazon Japan. A global release is planned to rollout soon after.

  1. Neat. Now do a proper PC/console collection of these games for a reasonable price. Please??? (I'd even be OK with untranslated Rockman & Forte.)

    1. Not sure why one would buy this vs just using a free emulator that allows high customization and a bigger screen and nice gamepad or buying the collections. I played Rockman and Forte SNES version with a translator patch using an XBox 360 wired controller. It was better than the GBA version in some ways.

    2. I don't ssee why they can't translate rockman & forte, they already have an official translation in the GBA version. just use that translation and give us the SNES version pls

    3. You know, I would like to play Rockman & Forte on my PS4... But I have ZERO interest in soccer. I have it. I played it once or twice. I quickly quit. It would be nice to have it for those who want it, for sure.

well, because this is a legit and official way to play it for one. But this can be played on a bigger screen too though, it connects with HDMI out. Although I'm not sure about this things compatibility with other controllers, the website suggests it is only compatible with it's own controllers, but you never know.

it'd be pretty nice if it didn't come with the screen by default, and was designed more to be something you plug into your own display like the NES mini, and cost like $30, then I'd be game.

    5. Seems you are forced to use that controller (that controller is crappy and I would use a gamepad any day) and it is a 210 USD or so, which isn't cheap for that. I bought the collection on steam for cheap. I have no need for that when I can play the collection on Steam + use an emulator for Rockman and Forte with a translation patch (or even a GBA emulator if I want to play the GBA version). He even says it is only worth it if you are a big collector in this video: https://youtu.be/Axj5YmHf5vU?t=371

  2. HOW are we supposed to play megaman on a joystick with arcade buttons. It might end up working decently but I dont know. Also, why not include battle and chase? I feel like that would play wonderfully on this

    1. because then they'd have to emulate the PS1, and there's probably very little space on the thing, as it only has 10 games, none of which is much more than an SNES game

  3. All English with untranslated Rockman & Forte ? 210 dollars ? And ugly monitor. It was so 1990's. No thanks. Passed!

  4. who thought this was a good idea?

I really don't get why they have mega man games and a rockman game. why not all rockman? why not use the GBA translation of Rockman & Forte? why do we have a mini console mostly with street fighter 2 and some mega man games? I could understand if this was something like an NES mini, full of capcom arcade games meant to be played with the stick, but it's just street fighter 2, a puzzle game, 3 snes mega man games, and 2 mega man arcade games... I'm just so confused by this.

    1. I mean yeah the GBA version is translated but its not as good as the super famicom version, screen crunch + worse sound quality, especially in the music department.

But I do agree this whole thing is a strange idea, I mean it could be amazing if it had the games to make it worthwhile but the selection is odd. I still want it tho. lol

    2. I said to use the translation, not the GBA version. take the text from GBA version, put it into the SNES version, and BAM, a good translated version of mega man and bass

    3. And GBA version have some bad translated too.

    4. that's fine, a poor translation is better than it being in all japanese

    5. If one had a translation to add, one could fix it too

    6. It's not as simple as dumping the translated script over the Japanese script and calling it a day. There's far more work involved to modify the Super Famicom original than whatever company Capcom licensed this to is either willing to do or is capable of doing. The game has a ridiculous amount of text, it's not just some cutscene dialogue pieces, there's all the shop and CD Data flavor text. This is a product for a niche audience, not a wide market and undertaking a translation project for one game is most likely completely out of budget. Even if it was translated, a majority of you would still give it a pass.

    7. it's still a lot simpler than having to hire a translation team to do the work, you just get a grunt and give them the task and make them stay late for a week.

    8. @spotanjo3: Dear god, the word is translation, not translated.

  5. I will never understand the appeal of these limited-use console style geegaws.

  6. Oh wow that 0:55 opening stage gameplay is so delayed... They didn't even patched rockman & Forte to megaman and bass...thry already have the script of the gba port... Easy Pass...

    1. I love how the gameplay footage is super-imposed during that scene, there. That kid is hitting buttons, but nothing is note is happening~ I'd love to see the direction on that scene.
"Hit the bottom button once, then press the top one a bunch. It'll look great!"

    2. True but did you know that GBA's translation have a bad translated, actually ? Yeah.

    3. it doesn't appear to be delayed, nor super-imposed. with the magic of youtube, you can watch the video frame-by-frame using the "." button while the video is paused. It looks off because the person playing has no idea what they're doing.

They press the jump button, and mega man jumps, then they press the jump button again while he's in the air, so nothing happens. they press jump with their index finger. Then when mega man lands, they press shoot with their middle finger a few times, and as they approach an enemy, they spam the jump button for some reason.

  7. You know the little fight stick accessory might make for a good quality mini-fight stick to bring around and use with the nintendo switch if you can get it working on that. I know hori made a mini stick but that thing sucks.
