  1. Hm. A side game featuring Copen? Interesting. Thought this was Gunvolt 3 for a second.

    1. about a year to soon for another gunvolt game since they just released one a year ago or so. The next one will be out sometime next year. I am glad we are getting another game in the series to scratch that gunvolt itch

    2. What the hell are you talking about? Gunvolt 2 came out in 2016, last year they just released a collection of both games for Switch, which isn't new at all, especially considering the fact that the Striker Pack originally came out for the 3DS at the same time as Gunvolt 2 did in 2016.

  2. I'm skeptical to call Copen/Acura a "fan-favorite." Outside of gameplay, he is a rather unlikable and unrelatable protagonist. They took two qualities I hate (racism and zealotry) and mashed them into one character. Shame they couldn't instill a bit of charm in him to balance out his bad traits.

    1. Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. On top of being a bigot/zealot, Copen's also a hypocrite. Putting aside what he discovered about his sister, Mytyl towards the end of Gunvolt 2, he constantly condemned the very existence of septima, insisting that anyone who has or wields that power deserves to die (regardless of their character or what it's being used for), and then turns around and uses said abilities from the Adepts that he's fought or defeated.

Copen found a way to rationalize his hypocrisy by saying that he's using those powers for a "cleaner cause". So, yeah, personality-wise, Copen's a major douche. However, there is a chance he may end up undergoing some form of character development in this game.

  3. I am going to find a Japanese commercial for it. I love to collect Rockman and Gunvolt series from Japan tv commercials! Thanks for the update. :)

  4. "iX," you say, eh, Inti Creates? "iX?"

Also, I never played the original, so I don't know a darn thing about Copen. I do, however, know about that cute girl that Gunvolt rescues, in the first level. Where's her game, huh?!

(What I'm really saying is that I want more cute girls as playable characters, in games. Obviously.
    … … …
Thank you, Inti, for the Call, RAY, and Ekoro DLC, in Mighty Gunvolt Burst~)

    1. The "cute girl that Gunvolt rescues" is named Joule, and she's one of the playable DLC characters in Mighty Gunvolt Burst.

  5. So don't get me wrong, I really like Gunvolt, but it just seems to fall a little short of the quality of the Zero and ZX series. I've been trying for years to put my finger on what's missing, but I can't come up with anything specific. I really wish that Inti would have been able to make more ZX games - I really, really liked them. (Possibly more than Zero.)

    1. While I'm a fan of the Azure games, they're definitely slower than your average Zero or ZX title. Not by much, but the fact you can't just go right up to an enemy and slash away is the reason I've personally never been as big a fan of them as their Mega Man equivalents. That, and the platforming has always seemed slightly more basic in the Azure games, although it did improve in 2. Then again, I could be a little biased, since the ZX series is one of my favorite action series period, just due to the sheer amount of move sets you have at your disposal.

  6. It's still frustrating to me how they ported the first game (and Mighty Gunvolt) to steam and develop the rest as Switch exclusives.

    1. Absolutely! At a minimum, I would REALLY, REALLY like to see Gunvolt 2 on Steam. But Burst and iX really need to be on there too.

    2. Gunvolt 2 wasn't a Switch-exclusive, since it was also on the 3DS.

  7. I understand Switch is indie heaven in terms of sales and recognition but I don't care for the console, don't like the controls the hardware the Nintendo policies the UI anything much.

Why not give PC players and such the option? No matter how much fanboys argue PC to me is always the thing that gives me the most variety and freedom, I have many portable devices that run steam just fine as well as powerful home machines that allow a slew of controller options and such.

  8. Gameplay-wise, it looks good. But an entire game just for Copen? I don't know if I could handle that.

A whole game's worth of "I HATE ADEPTS!" "MY FATHER'S DEAD!" "YOU THREATENED MY SISTER!" "...."?

I hope the game has a skip feature for the cutscenes.

  9. Just putting this out there, but I am most pleased by seeing a fully sprite-based action/platformer shooter coming to a home, or rather, hybrid console. Specifically, a Gunvolt game by IntiCreates. Why? Because if Capcom were so inclined, they'd work with them on giving us that much needed ZX3 in the same way.

*fingers crossed but breathe not held*
