Mega Man Amiibo Now Available to Pre-order

Not even a week since the news broke, Nintendo's Mega Man Amiibo figure is already up for pre-order. You can reserve yours from Amazon for $12.99 US. Ignore the late release date; Nintendo has confirmed wave 3 for February, 2015 (North America, Europe and Asia).

I'd also like to take this time to announce I am planning a Mega Man Amiibo giveaway. The details are still being ironed out, but you can expect a contest of sorts. There will be 2-3 free Amiibos to win. I'll keep you posted!

  2. Ordered.
I really hope this thing looks half as good as the promo image.
I've heard that the Amiibos that come off the assembly line don't match the quality of their promos.
A natural side-effect of mass production, I suppose. But I'm a massive enthusiast for quality Megaman products.

Don't order these things online. Go to an actual store and inspect them yourself. Nintendo's promotional images are way off the final retail versions.

  4. I wonder what other Nintendo games Megaman will work with.... I hope this is a sign of Capcom actually working with Nintendo on making some new, quality games.

    1. Why does everyone keep saying that? Sakurai has said that every Smash member will be getting amiibos. I don't see why that would translate to everyone with amiibos will get games outside of Smash that use them.

On another note, god amiibos are such god awful gimmicks. At the very least Nintendo should have made them durable cards, or something less bulky and intrusive.

    2. They're trying to capitalize off the trend Skylanders started successfully. Activision has made some serious bank with the Skylanders line and Disney Interactive turned a profit after they jumped in with Disney Infinity.

A card gimmick wouldn't attract the same demographic. For Nintendo, the toy is the entire selling point, not really the game specific feature.

    3. Nintendo has been on the ball with promoting features for multiple games with their amiibos. Mario Kart, Hyrule Warriors, Kirby Rainbow Curse, and more to come. Let me have my hope, you dismal Anon #1.

    4. At Anon2: Oh I get it, like a happy meal toy that you have to buy separate from the meal. I still think it's a cheap gimmick, especially after I heard the complaints about the "toy's" quality.
