MMZ Zero is the Next D-Arts Figure

It's been one month since Ucchy's Christmas tease, and at last the next D-Arts figure from Bandai has come to light. That's right; D-Arts Mega Man Zero Zero is going into production. Try to act somewhat surprised.

The actual figure itself isn't ready to be shown, but Ucchy has posted a handful of design pieces showing its development. It's a neat look into the conceptualization process -- some of the finer details are being hammered out in the piece above. You can see the rest at Rockman Unity.

That's pretty much all there is to say for now. We'll keep you posted to future updates! Stay tuned!

Thanks for the tip, Heat Man!

    1. Yet another missed opportunity for a Vile Mk. II (X3 Vile) :/

  2. Ugh, what was the point of the polls? Give someone whose never had a figure or model a chance already.

  3. MegaMan's 25th is over, Bandai can stop pretending to care now. Not to mention all of these figures help me come to the conclusion that MegaMan isn't cool anymore. Zero still is, I guess.

  4. As cool as this is, I don't understand how they're able to make MMZ Zero and his spindly limbs work, but trying to get Sigma to work is a problem.
Or maybe I'm thinking about it wrong

    1. Sigma was too big to properly articulate while both retaining his design properly and making him to scale with the other characters.

in the end, it would have been too costly, so they made him a high quality statue instead.

    2. It's not that it couldn't be done. It's that it'd be too expensive to do, since Sigma is pretty huge.

    3. Sigma's problem is that he was too big. These lines use fairly standardized parts for joints, most of which would be too small for a figure of this size. That and the added weight would mean the small joints wouldn't hold. Evidently tooling larger joints for one figure wasn't offset by the number of Sigma figures they thought they could sell.

Zero, on the other hand, is a very popular character and has ranked high on each of the character polls.

  6. I wouldn't wipe my backside with it.

A good run of Megaman/X figures whose only downside was a few too many Zero figures. Now they're branching out into the lesser Megaman spin-offs with... SURPRISE! Another Zero figure.

I hope they get back to worthwhile characters after this.

  7. Why does everyone get all down on everything anyone does in terms of making Mega Man merchandise. There are 4 D Arts Zero figures (counting this one). Classic MM has Rock and Bass. X series has regular X, First Armor, Ultimate, and two limited edition variants (comic con metallic X and Manga X). Not to mention the Figuart Zero Sigma statue was released as well. It's not like they didn't make figures of the actual Mega Men. So what if they're making MMZ Zero? That just means you can scratch another sub-series main character off the list. Maybe they'll make a few MMZ side characters and move on to EXE after.

At the end of the day we get a little more MM related merchandise. I don't see why that's a bad thing or why people have to get all riled up about it like it's proof that MM is dead when it seems like it should be exactly the opposite.

    1. People get down on this because we want characters that haven't already been made a half dozen times.

Mega Man, Mega Man X, and Zero are obligatory in any toy line, but there are so many characters who have never seen a decent figure (or even a figure PERIOD) that it's frustrating to get yet ANOTHER Ultimate Armor X (Bandai, Jazwares), Black Zero (Bandai, Jazwares), or MMZ Zero figure (Bandai, Kotobukiya).

Personally, I want more villains. Vile and Bass are great (and safe) choices, but they've made 10 heroes. I think they need to even that out a little bit. Bandai has 80 Robot Masters and 64 Mavericks to choose from. I'm sure they could find a FEW characters that would sell out of the 144 potential characters.

I'm sure it gets difficult to judge which villain would sell, but I bet Storm Eagle would be a pretty safe bet. Not nearly my first choice, but definitely one of the safest.

  8. Give me an Omega Zero variation of this figure, and I'll buy that. I'm not too attatched to the MMZ Zero enough to have a figure of it. Omega though, well that would be nice.

  9. I really don't mind it. MMZ Zero is a whole new figure, not just a repaint. In all truth too, Zero has had 3 figures, this one is now the 4th. While X has had 5,and Classic and Forte each were made with extra goodies. I personally feel alot of people are still sore over the issues of MvC with Zero getting the attention.

What I hope this is, is more of a lead into the 4 guardians being made, or other Big shots like Kraft and Elpizo.

  10. Unsurprising, but still disappointing. The only good thing about this is that we may get Elpizo or Copy-X figures eventually.

  11. Oh boy, Zero... again.

  12. >Zero has had too many figures already
Zero has two molds while X has three. Don't say Black Zero counts because that was an exclusive release we got as a regular because Bandai knows they'll get more money from us than the Japanese.

  13. I appear to be the only person here who sin' upset about this. As much as I'd like some robot masters, I like MMZ, and look forward to adding this to my collection.

    1. I too like the MMZ designs. The overall streamlined designs from both of the GBA series are quite attractive.

If anything, this can serve as a nice base for customs of the 4 guardians and X.

  14. I am going to buy a crap ton of these and mod them into the Guardians :D *Squee*

  15. Zero? AGAIN???! Well, there goes the whole line now. If this tanked the Kotobukiya line, this one will too as Zero from the Zero series is a touchy character or topic to pick from. That's why its only been successful with the independent sculptors at the Wonder Festivals. Because they do the impossible. I bet this one won't have all its weapons due to budget cost, which is one reason why the Kotobukiya one sucked! I have a feeling that its going to be the same for this one too. Not looking forward to it!

  16. And the next D-Arts is going to be..................... Zero, AGAIN! Only in slight repaint as Omega Zero. Maybe as a Comic Con exclusive or website. I bet this is what is going to happen.

  17. I expect that the Four Guardians and Ciel (with Cyber-elves) are next for variety, but it would not be a surprised if Omega Zero is next...
Omega's first form would be better, but due to his huge size, he may be a Figuarts like Sigma.

    1. I really don't think Ciel is going to be made since shes a female character. Females characters aren't really popular here in the USA as in Japan. Which also makes Leviathan less of a chance to be made too. But the guardians do look possible since its almost the same body designs as Zero's.

  18. Is there a way to contact Bandai or whom ever makes the decision on which figure is next and such? Because honestly this is like a disappointment. They could of easily made other characters, like Protoman! But another Zero?! There has to be a way to contact them so we all can give our opinions . After all we are the consumers, without us they are nothing. There has to be a way to do a revote. I'm sure many would agree!

    2. You have to remember Zero won the last poll by a landslide, nearly doubling 3rd place (Roll) and having quite nearly a thousand votes over second place in a poll where averaging a couple of thousand votes got you up in top five to begin with.

So what makes you think many will agree?

      Delete
    3. Yeah, but many others toppled over others and yet like 5th place was made over 2nd and 3rd place in the previous polls, to which many agreed of whats the point of voting if they only pick what they want, ignoring the results of the poll. Like this past voting poll, MMZ Zero won, but Ultimate armor X was made before it, then Sigma but in a stupid statue, and then Black Zero, which wasn't in the results, but still made before MMZ Zero, and now we're finally getting MMZ Zero who should of been many months/last year! Again, whats the WHOLE POINT of voting if they don't stick to the results and pick what ever they want. I'm sure 3rd or 4th place characters from previous polls were never made. They just made a new poll and again and again, and then they pick, pick, pick, pick, pick, pick, pick and pick what they want ignoring the whole results! So it doesn't matter who won by a landslide. If we were to revote again, I'm sure we'll have a new results.

  19. Not trying to be mean, but why Zero again? I mean, ok, new figure, but there are plenty of characters that never made it into a figure, like Iris, Douglas, Signas, even Gate (X6 was not that good, but it had such creative designs, and Gate's Golden Armor looks beast)
It's annoying how many people just prefer the same stuff all over again instead of just giving another character the chance to shine.

  20. Yay. I can finally replace my shitty Jazzwares Zero figure and my broken Kotobukiya Zero model.
