Mega Man Unlimited Fan Game Trailer Debuts

If you're a fan of MegaPhilX's work, hoo boy, you're in for a treat. Tonight, MegaPhilX unveiled a brand new trailer for his highly anticipated fan game, Mega Man Unlimited. The game's still a ways away from release, but it's good to see things coming along nicely.

MMU has been in development for three years, formerly titled "Mega Man 10" before the real deal came along. In that time, the project managed to generate a bit of controversy: Capcom unkowingly built the official Mega Man 10 website with Mega Man Unlimited graphical assets! The snafu was quietly swept under the rug, and MegaPhilX was reimbersed with a trip to Capcom's Gamer's Day. Funny thing is, you can still find some bits and pieces of MMU sprites and backgrounds at the site today. Hey, who else but Capcom?

You can learn more about Mega Man Unlimited and stay on top of future updates at MegaPhilX's homepage here.

Thanks for the tip, AudioOut!

  4. Great trailer! I love what they did with the Robot Master silhouettes. I think I recognize some parts of the trailer, is there a list of assets that Capcom took from this fangame to build the Mega Man 10 site?

  6. I've been following this project for the past three years, and I think it's definitely come a long way. This (along with the "commercial" that MegaPhilX released sometime last month) definitely explains why he's been quiet about it for so long. The amount of progress that he and the rest of the team have made on Mega Man Unlimited so far is amazing.

I also love the way the trailer was put together. It, as well as the game itself, looks almost official. I can't wait to see the finished product. I could tell that this three-year wait is going to be worth it.

  7. I see headlines like this on my Twitter feed and think "Finally, a new Mega Man game announcement," and then I open it up and get all disappointed.

  8. Nice trailer and the game looks great. That Sniper Joe tank boss is awesome.

After MM10, it makes too much sense to have Protoman and Bass modes in these classic-style games. I hope they manage to include that. Also a co-op mode of some sort would be nice. And it would also be interesting if Wily actually wasn't the cause of the problem, for once. I feel that's really become too predictable now.

I wait for the day MegaMan steps out of 8bit again. Until then, this is great.

  9. This game looks amazing. I'm glad we live in a time where young devs have a medium through which they can mass-distribute their games, whether they be indie originals or unofficial spin-offs of established franchises. Also glad that Capcom seems to be cool with it for the time being.

  10. This, as well is MegaMan X Corrupted, is about as accurate as you can get outside of Capcom and/or Inticreates. It's up to us, the fans, to keep the franchise alive somehow. =)

  11. Looks fun! With this covering the OG series and MMX Corrupted covering the X series I think the community will be fine without an official release for a little bit :P.

  12. You know, I'm happy to see such devoted fans working so hard on these. It makes me realize something. No matter how much crud Capcom does to us, we'll always have each other.

  13. This can be done in a year but I guess they are having their life and put this game on hold or very slow in processing for 3 years.

The 3 years is something this game is not difficult to development. It is not like Final Fantasy 7 or above for years to development. Therefore, the 3 years is a long time because they have their own life to enjoy and develop it a little bit by little, obviously.

I like this and I am thinking of make a Megaman of my own for Game Maker someday. Right now, I am working on translation of my own country for Rockman & Forte and Rockman series so they can enjoy it and understand their languages. :)

Anyway, thanks for the news, Rockman Corner. Its amazing process, indeed.

  14. Damn that looked REALLY good. Serisouly can't wait for this. The only 'meh' part was Phil's track at the end. He's done a FANTASTIC job with the game but man his music needs a whole lot of work. They sound too much like music you hear in pirated Chinese games. Note changes are too random.
