4Gamer has published its annual feature asking Japanese game creators to reflect on what stood out to them in 2025 and what they’re looking ahead to in 2026. Among the contributors is Shingo Izumi, a name that has been steadily gaining recognition among Mega Man fans, who used the opportunity to share a message as we head into the new year.

Question 4: Please share your aspirations for 2026, along with a message for 4Gamer readers.
The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, which includes all seven titles from the three numbered entries in the Mega Man Star Force series, is scheduled to release on March 27, 2026. Customers who purchase during the pre-order period will receive a limited bonus, so we hope you’ll be sure to check it out.
In addition, on December 12, 2025, we announced the latest entry in the Mega Man series, Mega Man: Dual Override. The Boss Character Design Contest that launched alongside the announcement received far more submissions than we ever anticipated. The overwhelming love and passion from fans has filled the entire team with both surprise and gratitude, and it has further energized us as we continue development.
We will share more updates on the game as soon as the timing allows, so we appreciate your patience in the meantime.
We look forward to your continued support of Mega Man this year as well.

He's even posing with the buster, he might actually be goated
ReplyDeleteShiiiiiit, it really is shingo izumi, huh? You could feel his loss on Wilds with how bad management for post launch has been vs world. I think having him father MM is a way bigger deal than most realize tbh.
ReplyDeleteIzumi never worked on Wilds
Deletethat's the point op is trying to make, implying that Wilds is worse off for not having him. not that i would know, cause i've not played either, but, yeah.
DeleteWell one nice thing is the chances of an X9, ZX3, and/or Legends 3 just went up after this was announced. But 'chances' being the operative word. Let's hope no cancelling of this or 1 game followed by years of nothing MM11 style like prior, but if they are serious about wanting to emphasize and revive the series (announcing this is a step to proving that), then very good, though of course actions speak louder. But this shows there is hope now and 'might' be serious.
ReplyDeleteIt baffles me how every single time Capcom seems to underestimate MegaMan's potential. As Shingo said, they were not expecting that repercussion on this Character Design Contest. I remember when MMBN LC was released, Capcom was not fully stocked to replenish copies of this aforementioned collection because they were not expecting it to sell that much. It is time Capcom notices the blue bomber, despite not being on the same level of the likes of Street Fighter, RE or MH, still has a solid name and reputation that goes beyond a niche product.
ReplyDeleteYeah fr bro 💯 I love Megaman and even Legends was cool. I used to whoop grown men at the arcades with Megaman on CvSF hence the nickname lol.
DeleteI feel like a lot of it is that there's significantly more enthusiasm for the characters themselves than there is for the games attached, which is how it is with Darkstalkers.
DeleteThat said, Capcom now looks more receptive to trying to diversify the use of its IP, so I'm hoping this new game pans out and we get a steadier set of Mega Man content going forward.
