Physical Release Confirmed for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection in North America (Update)

Although Capcom Japan promptly confirmed a physical release for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, Capcom US and other English-language branches made no mention of it in their pre-order materials, which raised some concern. However, it looks like there's nothing to worry about after all.

Canadian retailers Video Game Plus and PnP Games have opened pre-orders for physical editions on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, with both listings pointing to a March 27, 2026 release alongside the digital version. UPDATE: Amazon pre-orders are live! Switch here, PlayStation 5 here.

It’s possible Capcom US simply wasn’t ready to share those details yet, suggesting these are early retailer listings. More stores should begin offering pre-orders in the near future.

Keep your eyes peeled!

  1. Awesome. I'll have all of them for the Switch!

  2. This doesn't apply to this game but knowing that Mega Man Dual Override is probably going to have some sort of Switch 2 edition; a reminder that Switch 2 red game cartridges work on Switch 1 as they usually contain a Switch 1 version on there as well!!

  3. Yawn. Hey at least it's the "first" Starforce collection and not the 87th like the others. "Scratches his butt"

  4. If I were to buy this, considering I have a full set of PS4 copies... This kinda makes me a little annoyed.
I have little interest in a PS5... I could get the switch but not having a matching set irks that collector OCD.

    1. Now imagine you have the Xbox versions instead. No Battle Network, No Star Force.

    2. Well Japan is getting a PS4 version, so fingers crossed.

    3. I can be quite foolish, but not so foolish as to buy into the XBOX LOL.
It doesn't much matter... Consoles are going to go away whether we want them to or not.
Physical is going away whether we want them to or not.
And ripoffs/bastardizations will be made whether we want them to or not.

All in the name of that mythical "progress" I keep hearing about.

    4. I get what you mean about this being supposedly a PS5 game when all the other Legacy Collections were for the PS4. I also find it interesting because they are still advertising this game as being both PS4 and PS5, but to do that, they would need to publish two different versions which doesn't make much sense. Since these are just emulated DS games, I don't see why they don't just stick with PS4 as that one disc can be played on both systems.

Physical will never fully go away though. Agree that home consoles/PCs may become less common as technology allows us to stream games from servers at high fidelity, but there will always be a place for physical games thanks to collectors. Plus, I feel like more people are starting to wake up to the fact that digital media is essentially a temporary license to use the product (one that can be revoked at any time) vs. actually owning it. Game collectors not only help keep physical media alive, but the market also results in games that were digital-only upon release get physical collector's editions down the line.

  5. Don't really care for console gaming or collecting "physical" much anymore but I might grab one (potentially on Switch) just for the trade value.

  6. Just switch and PS5 physical editions? It would be nice if the physical editions were collector editions.
