Mega Man X Mobile Now Available on Android

Twelve years after launching on iOS, Capcom's "enhanced" mobile port of Mega Man X has finally made its way to Android. The game, which is by no means the ideal way to experience the SNES classic, can be purchased from the Google Play Store for $9.99 US

Although it appears to be identical in terms of content to its iOS counterpart, the $9.99 price tag is somewhat surprising. It's more expensive. I dunno; your guess is as good as mine.

It's unclear why Capcom chose to release the Android version twelve years later. But if you're interested, go wild I guess. Like I said, it's not an ideal port. There are many other superior alternatives to play X1.

  1. That is indeed surprising.
The ios port came out when there weren't as much options as today.
I have seen the pc version of MMX legacy collection 1 goes for that price during sales. You get more games, in a better quality.

    1. Not only on PC but also on the Switch (if we aren't thining about the Steam Deck) is better if we are to take this port as a portable alternative
Hell, even if you were to stricly play on mobile you could always through the original on an emulator and be more authentic to the original (if you don't mind the cumbersome touch controls, but this version is about the same)

    2. @Deep Weeb: You can use controllers with less latency than the Switch on mobile devices when running emulation.

  2. Okay...so Crapcom clearly didn't learn their lesson *AT ALL* with how bad Megaman 1-6 Mobile all were. There's a movie title that describes this perfectly: "A Low Down Dirty Shame"...

  3. You know? I dig this. IOS is extremely horrible with preservation, while preserving Android games is easy as hell. And yes, this port sucks. But y'know, it's at least SOMETHING. Built from the ground up, with new menus and half-assed "remakes" of sprites. I see people compare this to the X Legacy Collection 1, and this is honestly better than that, because XLC1 is the most mediocre and low effort work (along with the classic Legacy Collection 1) - X1 through X3 there are emulations, and emulations they are bare minimum: with input lag, no overclocking, no proper filter options (horrible CRT and blur filters don't count) and with things like saves done extremely incompetently. So personally, I'd rather have this.

    1. I understand why you might not like it, but i find it a bit overkill to say the IOS version is better than XLC1 since those are at least the actual games

    2. The IOS version despite all it's problems is a completely unique port that would have otherwise joined the ranks of many obscure and unplayable mobile games, XLC1 is just emulation and extremely mediocre one at that.

  4. I don't know how desperate people are for MMX on Android, but there are other versions you could play on there much easier and for free. Just sayin.

  5. You can do real MMX without buttons.

  6. I guess they are just too lazy to make a new X game.

  7. I get the hate for this, but I feel the reasoning behind it's release is being missed entirely.
Penny pinching higher ups looking for a cheap and easy way to gauge interest in the X series? Yeah, it's stupid, but that's Capcom management..so I'll be purchasing this when I can just to show support to the series. That's what this is, folks, intentional or not; a chance to show the higher ups more so that the X series is not just a dead fish. I say if you can afford it and love the series, buy this trash port, please!

    1. As if Capcom doesn't already know... 😑

    2. @Watt I dunno' about that. XDive should be already more than enough reason to show there's enough love for the series. Frankly, if this is what it takes to show Capcom that there's a demand for new X games, then I almost feel like it's not worth it at this point. It just feels like needless hoop jumping, asking us to buy games we clearly already own (and in much better quality) without the promise of something potentially better along the way. I'm sure Capcom is aware, if anything, they should have more people paying attention to their social media platforms - Twitter's Megaman is always flooded with posts about X9.

    4. they really can't be arsed to re-release Xover as a singleplayer game?

    5. In fact, the X collections alone should have been enough. After all, they did say an X9 would depend on how well the X collections and MM11 did. Talk is cheap though since they seemed to not be following through. Buying a mobile game might just encourage more mobile games. No thanks.

  8. Uh.... Are you stupid or something, Capcom ? No thanks.
