Mega Man Legacy Collection is Out Today! (PS4, XOne, PC)

It's 2015 and we're finally getting something! Yes, Mega Man Legacy Collection is here! The game rolls out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC today for $14.99. The digital Nintendo 3DS version is still on track for an early 2016 release.

For those not in the know, Legacy Collection brings MM1-6 to modern day consoles courtesy of the Eclipse Engine. Additional extras include Challenge Mode with online leader boards and replays, a museum filled with concept and production art, a number of filters and viewing formats, and a jukebox.

Physical versions for Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo 3DS will arrive in early 2016 for $29.99. Capcom will provide more details on that front at a later date.

  1. I could have sworn this was coming out like September 13th or something. Awesome!

  2. And it's brilliant. There is no weird ghosting like in 9 and 10. And they look and sound much better than emulation. It's a win.

  3. It's 2015 and we're finally getting... another collection of the NES games. No offense to everyone looking forward to this, but I am quite sick and tired of 8-bit Mega Man. In the last seven years, we had MM9, MM10, SFxMM, fan games (again, no offense), re-releases (plus the odd mobile game) shoved down our throats, whereas virtually every attempt to move -forward- with the franchise was doomed to crash and burn. With all due respect to the developers, it only frustrates me further to see them discussing their efforts to faithfully recreate those outdated relics as though they're producing a work of art.

Yes, the NES games are memorable classics and established MM as a gaming icon, but that was -nearly three decades- ago. How much longer will this nostalgia trip go?

    1. So are you saying they should make new MM games or move on to other things.? I know how you feel, yeah its another collection of MM games, we got the anniversary collection and now this. they are just rehashing the same thing. but at the same time, i bought this collection to show the developers and capcom that i want to see more MM, and that i still care for the blue bomber. i would hope that capcom would make new MM games if there was a want for him. I really didn't need this collection since i had the anniversary collection for ps2 back in 2000 something.

    2. And you're exactly the kind of consumer they want.

    3. It's a precarious situation...
      - Buy the compilations, show support, and maybe Capcom will do something new? Possibly? Down the road? Eventually?
      or...
      - Don't buy the compilations and doom the franchise for all time.

Actually, it's kind of a lose/lose situation, now that I think about it. Even if the game sells, if it doesn't meet Capcom's financial expectations, it's still just going to be a "failure" to them.

    4. I semi agree. I'm for the nostalgia trip, but sick of constant lazy 8-bit things. If nostalgia is what they are going for, try the 16-bit era for a change. Also, heaven forbid they put major pixel effort in and do (my Favorite for the X series) 32-bit style like X4-X6 & MM8.

    5. @Anonymous August 25, 2015 at 6:20 AM This ^ everything you are saying is so true. I love classic megaman but I want something new. 8-bit only fans got there 8-bit fix but now we need something fresh and new which capcom would never do.

  5. I've heard some users are reporting issues with black screens on PC, but there's workarounds for that.

Beyond that, I would suggest steering clear of the comments section on Steam. It is ghastly.

    1. That's pretty much every comment section on Steam.

In fact I believe there's a Youtube channel dedicated to just those.

  6. What are you talking about? It is literally all recommendations and people talking about how Mega Man is the best thing ever or some bs like that. Stop trying to make the steam community look bad.

  7. Despite all of the semi-harping I've done to and questions I've asked about this project... it may end up getting it on the 3DS, when it goes physical. If only to help add to the numbers of supporters. Given that the games are 256 x 224 (240) and the Nintendo 3DS screen is 400 x 240 resolution, it should be a natural fit! Though it probably "won't look as nice" as the "HD graphics with a classic flair" versions on the consoles. *eye roll*

    1. i played the game and it does not look any different from other versions except for the turbo button. they somehow screwed the turbo button so bad that it makes the regular enemy takes more shots than the regular shots. it's faithful representation to the original series, am i right?

    2. I'm a little confused on that. I know if you shoot an enemy too quickly in the first two games (when two or more projectiles hit an enemy at the same time), they don't register damage... but is that something that happens across all six games in this version? 'cause it was tinkered with in Mega Man 2 (you can't do it with just the Buster anymore), but completely fixed in Mega Man 3 and onward.

    4. Might it be something to do with the invincibility period?

  8. Yay... A Megaman game is released and it means absolutely nothing to me. Way to ignore your core demographic, Capcom!

  9. No one mentioning the horrible botched sound on the PS4 version? Skip to :55 seconds. Lots of people with this issue including me

    1. Or hilarious stuff like this:

As someone who owns all six games on Famicom cart and own original hardware, there's no way my copies EVER did stuff like this. (Not just a recording/clip thing, the gameplay looked like that on my PS4, too)

    2. I'll stick with my MegaMan anniversary collection until the retail version of MegaMan legacy collection + with "10 amazing MegaMan games and all new perfect HD emulation" comes out. Oh yeah and the retail version of the MegaMan X legacy collection which better include 9 MMX games in it or I won't be buying it.

    3. The guy that made the video with the "cpcam ligcy BEATIFL MM2 craclkling titl scrn musc". Said in the description that the music player menu does the samething:

"Constant crackling and whatnot started appearing when I played the Mega Man Legacy Collection again. Also happens in the music player menu (which I didn't record).
      Please patch this!"

I am glad I did not buy this yet.The mean guy who made this collection was swearing up and down that this would be the perfect emulated megaman collection and that he would bring it with no problems whatsoever. And this is the result of his amazing work.

  10. hard to fix blackscreen on windows 7 (a supported os), nice to see your 8bit porting skills are still ahead of the curve Capcom.

  12. I have windows 10, and NO blackscreen, ever. Maybe people should maintain their PC's a little better. Or it's possible that they don't have all of their software up to date. Or, yes, it's even possible that their hardware is not supported.

    1. Everything is up to date, Capcom lists windows 7 64bit as supported, every other game I have ever gotten on steam works, games much more complex and taxing than this one, I can almost assure you my hardware is much more powerful than your average hardware that is running windows 10, and programs drivers and OSes are software not hardware, ON TOP OF ALL THAT tons of windows 10 people are complaining about the blank screen it is just easier to fix for them, Stop being a Capcom shill.
