Mega Man Board Game Kickstarter is Live (Updated)

At long last, Jasco's official Mega Man board game Kickstarer has begun. The campaign is seeking $70,000 in funding. As of this writing, it's amassed over $60,000 under five hours. I think this one is going to be just fine.

Now, let's talk prizes. Campaign backers can get a copy of the game for $60 as part of the "early bird" special. Additionally, a deluxe bundle, which adds support for Oil Man and Time Man and additional pieces is, is available for the Kickstarters first 24-hours for $130. Other backer rewards include Proto Man mini-figures, tins from Jasco's upcoming Mega Man Universal Fighting System trading card game, and an art print.

The board game is projected to release October 2014. You can find out more details by visiting the Kickstarter page, which is filled with concept images, a rundown of gameplay, and other fun stuff.

UPDATE: It's funded. Onward to stretch goals.

  1. Wow that Elec Man token fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Also sad to see they changed from the original idea of expansions being sets of eight to sets of two.

  3. Won't it be nice to contribute funding to a cause that will actually result in a Megaman game getting made for a change?

  4. Huh... Mega Man fans will open their wallets for just about anything... So much for "screw Capcom, the franchise is dead" I guess.

    1. Because the franchise *IS* dead, according to Capcom Japan at least. Look at last year, and all the nice fancy stuff Capcom gave Street Fighter for their 25th anniversary. Now look at what MegaMan fans are getting from the same company for THEIR 25th: a crappy iOS F2P auto-run game, cameos in other crappy iOS games, and snippets of pixel art on merch for a DIFFERENT anniversary celebration. The only worthwhile things we've gotten so far are the 3DS Virtual Console releases (which takes relatively little effort) and a decent crossover comicbook miniseries...FROM ANOTHER COMPANY.

This is the EPITOME of the phrase "you had one job", and they managed to screw it up BRILLIANTLY. Unless Capcom manages to pull some sort of last-minute surprise out of their corporate butts, I coould very easily say that this has been one of the WORST anniversaries for any video game series, ever--and yes, I am considering it worse than both Metroid's 25th (in which nothing happened) AND Sonic's 15th (see: Sonic 2006) birthdays in that equation.

  5. Well, the sorts that post on comment boards probably skew negative. It's going to take quite a few of those stretch goals to make this worthwhile though. Not even any Cuts or Guts until some stretches are hit :( Hard to tell what the pace will be after the initial burst, but it does seem like it will get there.

    1. That really sucks, but I am hopeful the goals of making this game worth getting are met.

Still, this Kickstarter could not have come at a worst time. A lot of my paycheck this month is going to Christmas gifts for friends and families. I am sure I am not alone in this, either. Oh, well. It ends in January so hopefully there will be enough time to scrounge around to make a pledge.

    2. Gotta remember Kickstarter doesn't charge until after it closes, so not until the Jan. 19th in this case.

  6. I am skipping this bored board game. I want Megaman video games!

    1. One step at a time. Who knows, they make it into a video game like RockBoard! XD ;P

  7. Great, the backer rewards don't ship to Canada.
